If one describes 1♥-1♠ with the exactly same meaning for 1♥-2♠, this is clearly not full disclosure to the opponents (even if the partnership would just deliberately and randomly decide between the two bids, they should provide that info). So at this point, we can conclude that while "the explanation is completely according to book", the book is not complete, and thus just providing these descriptions would not result in "You have been informed of your opps". The one exception would be if the opponents were using that book, and so were just providing the description as given in the book, without having noticed or thought about that 1♥-1♠ was exactly the same as 1♥-2♠. Yes - Blue Team systems were 30-40 years ago more well-known. Today people seems to have a different approach to features and quality in bridge. That I have chosen the same FD text for the 2 continuations means nothing else than I am unable to see the correct interpretation which may differ from the stated one. Therefore I informed you of how to interpretate. The 2♠ is mostly an invite for trump but as 4+cards is may also be a balanced invite. Here you need to bear in mind the frequent cue continuations and slam approach. Those are special to Blue Club.

So 2♠ is forcing (since no upper range given) even though it could have just 5 HCP? Or are you just describing P-1♥--2♠ and there is a different description for 1♥-2♠ (unpassed hand)? If 1♥-2♠ is 5+HcP, 4+♠ etc., what is 1♥-1♠? Is your description of 2♠ perhaps the description of a 1♠ response? The book is not so very clear. Therefore I added 3♠. 2♠ therefore normally means 5+♠ and some perspectives. It is no preempt but invite. Holding a weak hand you try to stay low bidding 1♠ or the preempt. The book does not inform much about passed hand bidding in offensive - it is more clear about that for defensive. This makes good sense because you will often play defensive playing Blue Club. It is a passive system - hope you understand this term. The text I have in FD for 1♥-1♠/1♥-2♠ is exactly the same: 5+HcP, 4+♠, Round. Canape' - may have longer

Please re-read starting posting first example. We are looking for FD of 1♥ opening opposite a passed hand, and the FD of the P-1♥--2♠ bid. Could you please provide these two FD examples. http://bridgefiles.net/Picture/BOOK-BlueClub.jpg Aha - here it is. It is not so detailed. 1♥=12-16HcP, 4+♥. Canape' style - may have longer 1♥-2♠=5+HcP, 4+♠, Round. Canape' - may have longer 1♥-3♠=Preempt

Did you miss this key question: so that is how you would type them into FD? Just "natural, possible canape" for 1♥ and let everybody assume point count etc. from that, and "non-forcing" for the 2♠ bid? Let me put it this way: could you please post the text of how you would describe the two bids in FD in reply to this post? We will then compare your description with their description. Btw Frances, I've asked for a [RANT] and [/RANT] feature - it would have a nice bold red font with steam rising. I would have used it here. 1♦=12-16HcP, 3+♦. Canape' style - may have longer 1♦-1♥=5+HcP, 4+♥, Round. Canape' - may have longer 1♦-2♠=5+HcP, 4+♠, Round. Canape' - may have longer I dont know whether your comment about the word 'rant' is for me. I assumed it meant something like 'stolen' but looking up my dictionary I see explained as noisy rubbish talk, boring talk, declamation, noisy party. None of these explanations make much sense to me.

By me Windows Defender seems to detect and to remove this adware program each night. How about you? Any ideas of how to get rid of it completely or suggestions with which program I may have got it? http://www.microsoft.com/security/encyclop...t&threatid=9108

The mail referred to here is asking for what phising mails normaly do. Mcafee has just released a report about the increase of private losses caused by phising, for USA this is estimated to 40 billion dollars. 1 1/2 year ago I received 4-5 mails, which in fact were phising mails, pretending to be sent by BBO. Phising is expected to find new forms now with fake web-sites. Phising is assumed to raise by 250% a year. No wonder Dwingo came to think of what to do.

As a frequent poster on these forums, it would be really nice if you could call me "she" in future, thanks. Sorry Frances - No offence intended, certainly not. :)

For that you will never get away with me without alert + explain everything not included in your pre-alert.

Did you misread the starting post? Let's take just the first example. That is how they explained the auction. You really believe that is properly informing the opponents? Is this all you would type into a FD description? If you don't believe this is properly informing the opponents, then you are sure that there is "much to complain about here". In that case you should retract your contention. The point is that numerous follow-up questions were required to drag the information out. Contrast to: US: Please explain the auction? * THEM: 1H natural, four or longer, possible longer second suit**, always unbalanced, 10-16 points. THEM: 2S non-forcing, 8-10*** has four card minor since would have opened a Multi without one. * I suggest "please explain the auction, fully describing each of your bids as much as you know about them" ** this assumes in their system, any other suit can be the longer suit, even the other major *** 10-12 range provided by them makes no sense in their system context, so 8-10 likely real range. I don't misread I think. The explanation is completely according to book. Thats the implication of canape'.

There are not so many variations of Blue Club as those calling themselves Precision. Certainly all don't need to know all kind of systems in details - but those who call themselves advanced need at least to know the basic of the well reputated systems - at least so much that they know where they need to ask. The problems still looks like Frances has been trapped from his own private modification using the same name. I think it would have been brave of Frances to give it a laugh and continue.
-
No need for that. They have told they play Blue Club and those sequences Frances has mentioned on top of this thread looks completely according to the book. To me it looks like Frances has been in doubt because it looks like what he calls Blue Club looks to be a very special and private modification. I wonder how to play canape' with 1♦ - 1NT(5-4 majors).

Claus... There is nothing wrong with being opinionated. LOTS of people are opinionated. But your combination of deadfast certainly and appalling ignorance is really infuriating. Idiots should not lecture their betters, especially not in such a condescending manner. The sooner you learn this, the happier your life will be. I played a LOT of Blue Club in my day. Using 1♦ - (P) - 1N to show 11-12 HCP is decidedly NOT part of classic Blue Club Responding 1♥ to a 1♦ opening with 3 Hearts and a balanced 7 count is decidedly not part of classic Blue Club Admitted, I played BTC based on the original books. Things may have changed (Indeed, I understand that things have changed). However, as I understand matters, one of the first significant changes was dropping the classic 1NT opening. In short, if the pair really is playing Blue Club, they're playing their own highly customized variant. What's really remarkable about this all is that you're selling system summaries. You don't even know the basics behind these systems and you have the nerve to charge people Your hostile attitude force me to stop further communication with you Richard.

errm... i) This wasn't online, it was a local KO match against a regular partnership who have been playing together for years. ii) I have played against Blue Club before. Playing 1D - 1NT as 11-12 HCP may be 4-5 in the majors (and 1D - 1H may be 7-9 with 3 hearts) is not standard. iii) I have played a number of international events against significantly weirder systems than this. My experience is that people usually try and be helpful, not seem to do their level best to be unhelpful. We had a few more like this... 1H* - 1S* - 1NT (uncontested) US: can you explain the auction? THEM: 1H/1S possible canape etc, 1NT 13-15 US: Can you explain why you didn't open 1NT THEM: Oh no, a 1NT opener is either 16-17 balanced, or 13-15 exactly 3325/3334 USTHINKS: So why not say so on your convention card? (USTHINKS: we vaguely remember that is part of blue club) 1C* (1D*) x* (P*) 1H (P) 1S (P) 1NT (P) 3NT (early discussion about the meaning of the 1D overcall) US: can you explain the auction ....x 6+ HCP < 3 controls ...1NT balanced... US: Is it forcing? THEM: Of course, the double was game forcing USTHINKS: why didn't you say so, since when is 17 opposite 6 obviously a game force? US: Does it have a range? THEM: Yes, about 17-20 ...play hand out.... 1NT bidder transpired to be 1534 though no impact on final result US: I thought you said 1NT was balanced? THEM: That is balanced (OK, now we just have a terminology issue....) I have played against Blue Club before. Playing 1D - 1NT as 11-12 HCP may be 4-5 in the majors (and 1D - 1H may be 7-9 with 3 hearts) is not standard Well you play a modified version I see - then you have nobody but yourself to blame for need for precise explanations. This may explain why you didnt understood the MAJOR-jump and 1♦-1NT. (USTHINKS: we vaguely remember that is part of blue club) According to book - YES
-
Frances I am not sure you have much to complain about here. You have been informed of your opps. plays Blue Club(NT=13-17) and canape'. Looks to me their features are fairly standard for that. Now you have faced reality of some of the differences playing online in an international get together milieu instead of domestic.

Now we know the names and the basic positions of the main contenders for the french presidency elections in May. Sequeline Royale versus Nicolas Sarkozy. To me the battle looks already to be over. Looks like Sarkozy has no chance but does this looks different from a french perspective?

Does anyone have any definite agreements on the sequences? you find them here - This is Ron Andersen which it looks like you are using yourself: http://bridgefiles.net/cc/Conventions.bss

ACBL TD ruling
csdenmark replied to SteelWheel's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Right now I feel no need to involve in a renewed public discussion of that kind. I understand you know my position - else I will privately be ready for some clarificative exchange of views. -
No - this hand is not passed out over 3♣. The right bid is 3♠(trans -> ♦). A pass hand looks like this xx J xxx Qxxxxxx. A 2NT bid holds 0-7cP = 0-4HcP. Therefore the hand is a borderline for 2NT. I think it will be right to bid 3NT(balanced, No ♥ stop). 2♥ - DBL - 3NT(balanced, No ♥ stop) - 4♠ (stop) 2♥ - DBL - 3NT(balanced, No ♥ stop) - 4♥ (slam)
-
2NT shows 0-7cP, any distribution - so 3NT can be a poor adventure. Holding a 2 suiter I will consider 3♥ as relay instead. In that case the sequence is: 2♥ - DBL - 2NT - 3♥(GF/slam invite)
-
The 3♣ relay I bid. There is a risk we will miss a club game if partner is very weak - but I prefer to have an indication from partner. As always I prefer good hands to progress slowly.

It is excellent the Nobel Prize Committe' has excessed their power to focus one of the main obstacles for development. It is no new discovery that his idea is based on but the new thing is that he has focussed the idea a way for all countries to walk along. The idea to help families via loans in small economy scale has for many years been one of the key stones for development aid programmes from the scandinavian countries.

Additional classification for players
csdenmark replied to ArcLight's topic in Suggestions for the Software
I dont see your point here but the handle ought not to be so difficult. I think an easy solution for a complete costumization of the friend-list area could be a relation database working in a similar way as we know from FD. Such a database would be able to solve the issue some think is important - skil level, nationality, special agreements - you name it. In fact it would be an ID looked from the opposite perspective. -

Very happy to agree with you Fred. Wonder why we have ever disagreed! You may have noticed I often have hard disagreement with persons in this Forum advocating everyone can play anything - and nothing else than composing a few strange sequences are the requirements. I don't play - and therefore have insufficient knowledge of - systems mainly relying on natural definitions. I have pushed a hard job in front of me - but after finishing Lukand Major(pass-system) I have decided to investigate your system. A few years ago I gave up 'Scientific Aces'. I expect your system in based on that. -

Very delighted to see this statement Fred. Oh - I know, I know - I am just twisting salt in the wound - couldn't resist, a devil tempted me :P
