  1. Can you guys still not see the flaw in the BBT? Here, let me help you. The Higgs boson is often called "the God particle" because it's said to be what caused the "Big Bang" that created our universe many years ago. The nickname caught on so quickly (even though scientists and clergy alike do not care for it) partly because it's a great explanation of what it's supposed to do -- the Higgs boson is what joins everything and gives it matter. If you still can’t see the flaw, try this. You guys needed to build (now already your fourth attempt) a massively expensive machine to collide two particles together at the speed of light or better. But you haven’t told us where the original two particles originated from. Nor have you told us the source of energy behind them enabling them to travel at these speeds. Nor have you told us the mathematical probability of these two particles colliding in the vastness of emptiness (or nothing). Nor have you told us how, from these two tiny particles, the universe and everything in it managed to evolve. We have growing food crises all across the world. Why not spend your time developing a new kind of yeast which we could mix into a batch of dough causing it to rise to the extent that these two particles of yours have done. One loaf can feed the entire human race into eternity. All of you guys reject the existence of God, yet you needed him to create the Big Bang for you to get your theories in motion. Directly after the bang, you conveniently move God off-stage while you embark on a 50 year and more crusade to find the Higgs boson to substantiate endless meaningless calculations as to the age of the universe, the planets, etc. Let me make a prediction: As soon as you guys can say with absolute certainty that the Higgs boson has been found, you will embark on your next crusade, and that is to eliminate God entirely out of your vocabulary. Oh sorry, you are already going down that road with your Theory of Everything.
  2. The Particle Everyone Said Was the Higgs Boson is likely to be the Higgs Boson Seems like you guys aren’t sure yourselves if the Higgs was found. Here’s an extract: I asked physicist Sean Carroll how they determine if it is or is not a Higgs, and he said the ways the particle decays – and the rates of those decays – could have indicated that it was something different. “This is one of those situations where it would be easy to know that it's *not* the Higgs, but very hard (impossible, in some sense) to know for sure that it *is* the Higgs,” he wrote in an email. Seems like not one of you guys know who said the Higgs Boson caused the Big Bang. Can you answer this question from the article – I’d like to know who said the Higgs Boson caused the big bang. Obviously not a physicist. How about this one: Higgs Boson, the so-called ‘God Particle’ – What’s really as stake? If the Higgs doesn't exist, it will also be, for some, a relief. A resounding 'No' from the data would be easier to swallow, after all, than another couple of decades of expensive and time-consuming research on something that would turn out to be wrong anyway. If the Higgs doesn't exist, it will be back to the drawing board on science that's dominated for decades, so you can expect to see a range of "Higgsless" models that may contain even more novel mechanisms. CERN is under pressure to produce something tangible. So there is a lot of hype around the POSSIBLE existence of the Higgs Boson, CERN’s Expensive Science. Proof of the Higgs boson would be perceived as one of the most important scientific discoveries for decades. Disproving its existence would be even more substantial, as this would lead to a tearing up of current scientific textbooks and a major rethink about the way the universe works. This week’s announcement is an indication that the boson almost certainly does exist. But scientists, being scientists, are wary of giving iron clad guarantees without irrefutable evidence. That will have to wait for months or years, while CERN’s computers crunch through the data. How about this? Cash Challenged CERN
  3. People, this madness had many predecessors before the LHC. Here are some that I managed to dig up – Bevatron, which began operating in 1954, has reached the end of its life. The demolition of the Bevatron began in 2009 and was scheduled for completion in 2011. Tevatron (see my previous post). Superconducting Super Collider was under construction when the project was officially cancelled on 21 October 1993 due to budget problems after $2 billion had been spent. DESY is a national research centre in Germany which still operates. The research centre has an annual budget around € 192 million. UNK Proton Accelerator was Russia’s foray into this madness as well. Seems like this came to an end in 1996 after the breaking up of the Soviet Union. Now we have the LHC and still no progress has been made while the cost keeps on mounting.
  4. This pursuit of madness started with the Tevatron which was completed in 1983 at a cost of $120 million and significant upgrade investments were made in 1983–2011. The Tevatron ceased operations on 30 September 2011, due to budget cuts and because of the completion of the LHC, which began operations in early 2010 and was far more powerful. And still they only think they found the Higgs-Boson!
  5. Here is a List of Theoretical Physicists who are recognised in Theoretical Physics. Here is an Academic Genealogy of Theoretical Physicists. You need to read this. These are the guys who had a Doctoral Advisor helping them develop these theories (sorry, thesis).
  6. Gwnn, PassedOut, mikeh and Vampyr Kindly explain to us in layman’s terms why you guys needed to create all these Axioms in the first place. Then you went further by creating Logical Axioms and Non-logical Axioms. Why was it necessary to create these two distinct groups? How about telling us which of all your theories contain the Logical Axioms, and which contain the Non-Logical Axioms. What would really fascinate all of us is: Which of all these theories contain both.
  7. Seems like our fancy theorists have lined up work for themselves for the next 1,000 years. They have compiled this list to keep themselves in a job, List of unsolved problems in physics.
  8. I have just found myself a new favourite theory! Check this one out, The Theory of Everything, or ToE.
  9. gwnn, PassedOut, Vampyr and mikeh Come an explain to us in layman's term why the Standard Model was abandoned in favour of the BBT.
  10. True to yourself you have not answered my question, “The squandering of money to this extent to give credence to a THEORY is truly apalling. You come and tell me - How do these THEORIES benefit mankind?” The theory we are talking about is the BBT. Instead you refer to electricity, computers and medicine. But taking your example of medicine – if there were 10,000 scientists (the number working on the LHC) with a budget of $15.25 billion (the amount wasted to date) to find a cure for HIV/Aids and/or cancer, I’ll bet you a BBO dollar any day that we would probably have had a cure for both by now. That would benefit mankind! Surely it must be glaringly obvious to every Forrest Gump out there, that there is someone (a group of people) hiding in the shadows with ulterior motives who are driving the LHC project to give substance to the BBT? No sane person will continue throwing this sort of money into a fruitless project THAT THEY THEMSELVES KNOW IS FRUITLESS and which ultimately benefits mankind zero! The physicists working on the project couldn’t give two hoots as long as they keep on receiving their fancy salaries every month. To keep themselves there all they need to do is keep on coming up with all these stupid theories. When one has run its course e.g. the Standard Model, they invent a new one the Big Bang. That way they secure a job for themselves for the next 50 years while they make all sorts of meaningless calculations as to the age of the universe etc. When the Forrest Gump’s of the world point out the flaws in the BBT to these guys, they convince their paymasters to build something like the LHC with, “Hey, we got a theoretical answer. Now let’s go about trying to prove it.”
  11. If you don't know what vanity means, read the link. Here is an extract - 1: something that is vain, empty, or valueless
  12. How many of you know what Axioms are, why they are needed, and who it is developing them?
  13. Anyone actually believe this crap about Participation and Funding of CERN? The list for 2012 includes Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal - all countries under severe financial austerity measures. So where do you think they are going to find the money for vanity projects that benefit mankind a big fat zero? The situation in Greece is so bad that Greece is to sell off historic buildings to settle debt. Higher up I said that 9 billion Euros had already been wasted by CERN on projects like the LHC. Read the whole article - the annual LHC running cost is $1 billion. Seems like I got it hopelessly wrong. According to this article, published on July 5 2012, Finding the Higgs Boson cost $13.25 billion. Another two years has almost passed, so we need to add another $2 billion to the total cost. And still they only "THINK" they have found the Higgs Boson, something they need to give credence to all these stupid THEORIES of theirs. How about someone updating the Wikipedia article with actual cost until 31 December 2013, plus the budget for 2014? The squandering of money to this extent to give credence to a THEORY is truly apalling. You come and tell me - How do these THEORIES benefit mankind?
  14. Ever notice you have a 9-card ♣ fit?
  15. My friend, you are closer to the truth than even you could imagine. Those who are currently under the age of 50 are going to witness the return of Yehoshua. Those who are currently over the age of 50 might not live long enough to see it happen, though you will be seeing the beginning of the unfolding events leading up to his return. The Jews are about to get their long awaited Messiah, but not in the way any of them foresaw.
  16. The short answer is really quite obvious. Funding of the LHC is already at an astronomical figure of 9 billion Euros; funds are running out which has led to a reduction in the number of physicists working on the project. Some have left on their own accord while others have been cut from the project, and still zero progress has been made towards giving substance to the BBT. Paying some of them in bitcoin can keep them around a bit longer. When the stock market comes down (the primary source of current funding), those who are hiding deepest in the shadows and the ultimate driving force behind the LHC, are going to be hard pressed indeed to keep the project going, but more importantly, to pay the salaries of those they still want working on the LHC. The long answer will probably cover two full A4 size pages.
  17. This can be extended further as follows - 1. With slam interest in either major, bid 4♦ to ask for the major 2. With no slam interest, bid 4♥ as P/C
  18. I looked up Michaels cuebid again. These guys say use Michaels with a weak hand (5-10 HCP) or a strong hand (16+ HCP). With an intermediate hand (11-15 HCP) bid the higher ranking suit first. I put these numbers through BBOs deal generator to get an idea of the frequency of occurrence. This is what was spat out: 0.45% = 5-10 HCP 0.33% = 11-15 HCP 0.08% = 16+ HCP 0.86% = Overall frequency of occurrence I don't like this suggestion of yours here. I prefer this - 2D (3D) majors (this is fine, no problem; use it for the weak Michaels hand i.e 5-10 HCP) 2D (4C) hearts and clubs I prefer ♣ plus an unspecified major. To ask for the unspecified major, responder bids 4♦. The reason I choose this is because your next suggestion below forces the auction to 5♣ when partner has preference for ♣ but an otherwise bust hand. Following my suggestion allows partner to pass 4♣ with preference for ♣ and an otherwise bust hand, and to ask for the major with preference for the majors 2D (4D) spades and clubs I prefer this to show the strong Michaels hand i.e. 16+ HCP 2D (4N) blackwood [blackwood with no suit agreed upon? Can you please give some more detail as to what you have in mind here?]
  19. What about the rest of your defense to a 2♦ preempt i.e. Double = takeout of ♦ 2NT = Natural, balanced, HCP range according to partnership agreement New suit = Natural (is this forcing or non-forcing according to partnership agreement?)
  20. Faceless power rules in furtive finance era
  21. Here's some good advice to all you buffs who play the stock market, Are you owned by an investment? Here's an extract: "My advice to people who have such a significant exposure to one brilliant share is to sell small portions of your shares periodically to ensure that you have sufficient money stashed away for a rainy day. If you don’t believe that this investment will ever have a collapse in its share price, remind yourself of the Didata example. You don’t need to sell all your shares. Sell just enough so that a significant drop in the share price will not compromise your current lifestyle."
  22. 1. Was her involvement bona fides or was it through you? 2. What was her contribution? 3. Why was it so short? 4. Did she get paid in USD or Bitcoin (or a mix of the two)?
  23. I am going to ask gwnn, PassedOut, or mikeh to answer your question for you. I know what the answer is, but coming from me, you won't accept it. Coming from one of them, maybe you will.
  24. Bitcoin must grow out of its obsessive adolescence
  25. When the stock markets crumble The word of Yahweh will stand Stock prices may rise and fall But his word will endure Though the investors may stumble The word of Yahweh is strength I will not be shaken I will not be moved I will not be shaken I’ve had a vision That we are living In strange times Everything is shaking The whole earth is quacking Can you hear it? Can you hear it? Victory’s in the air!
