-

One-level takeout action
menggq replied to mgoetze's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
"In 4th seat, you hold ♠109xx ♥x ♦AQ9xx ♣Qxx. LHO opens the bidding with 1♣, partner doubles, RHO passes." 1C X P ? 1.1♦ was underbid. If u think ♦ suit sd be showed first time bid 2♦.In my opinion i wd bid 2♠ which means ♠4+ and 8-10hcp probably. 2.1C X P 1D P 1H P ? for this bidding sequence,DBL and then 1H promised extra 17+hcp but not very strong enough otherwise sd cue bid 2C.I guess you hv a game contract, may 4S?3N?5D?... 1D wrong bid showed 7-hcp and denied any majors.how can make forcing bid again? If u hold really forcing hand first round cue bid 2C to establish forcing. -
PASS! PD sd hv 10-12hcps and ♥ stoppers, also sd hv ♦ FIT,for yr view 7 tricks hold wd get one ♥ at least.must trust PD.
-
P 1N P 2H P 2S P 3D P ? 3H=cue bid means D FIT promised D4+ 3S=confirm S contract promised S3+ 3N=no S/D FIT means S2 and D3- probably. I dont agree with 4D bidding which is over 3N.
-
P 1D P 2C P 2S P 3S P 4H P 4N P 5S P 5N P 6D P 7S ALL PASS 4H=cue bid 4N=RKCB 5S=2A+SQ 5N=All key cards held ,do u hv anything else? 6D=DK or bid 7S directly since u hv singleton C and DK.
-
3♥ might mean limited raise with ♠ support,PD sd hv short ♠ more likely singleton,i wd bid 5♦ and let opps guess:DBL?5♠?PASS?FORCING PASS?...
-
If N/S play DRURY may reach a ♠ slam contract and get better scores without any trouble.Any unnormal bids sd be alerted for sure. 2 WAY-DRURY is workable for pass hand to respond one major bidding by PD: p p 1S P ? 2C=3 card spade support inv hand 2D=4 caed spade support inv hand
-
2H P P X P 2N P ? 1.2N=LEB so bid 3♣. 2.If pd has good ♥ why not pass for penalty? or bid 3N when u RED opps WHITE. 3.PD didnt bid ♠ might mean no ♠4+cards,pd sd hv one minor suit probably and not a INV hand, that's why bid 2N=LEB otherwise just bid it directly.
-
1C 1S P 2H X=? 1.P show 0-5 hcp not 5-7hcp for my pre sys. 2.X show extra and balance hand without both ♠/♥ stopers. 3.if hv ♠/♥ stoper may bid 2N,if hv ♦ or ♣ suit just bid it. 4.if no extra no minors suits pass 2♥.
-
4H cue bid deny DA.the rest key cards r SQ and CK,looks like PD sd hv one of them at least.if SQ that can hv entry to cash H honors discards C losers,if CK no SQ drop it or finesse.so i wd like to bid 6S after 4H directly.
-
This strong hand sd force pd bid again anyway,so cue bid 2♣.1♥ was forced not free bidding so may hv 0-7hcp.

What to do when partner gives a wrong explanation?
menggq replied to Antrax's topic in Simple Rulings
If long weak ♠ suit only can bid once 3♠ or 4♠,how can bid twice 3♠ and then 4♠?wrong bidding!hard to explain it. -
Who white?who red?pls dont forget tell us.5♣ was good contract, wasnt it? I wd bid 3♣ after 2♠ even if PD bid DBL 1♠ which means NEG normally but PD can only hv ♦ suit with 10hcp-.
-
I agree with bid 1♥ and then pass 1♠.
-
If u hv some choices to bid,3N is one of them bid 3N wd be the best. For this hand u hv three choices probably:3♠\DBL\3N.obviously PD almost doesnt hv ♦ stopper,if u bid 3♠ or DBL,PD wd bid something over 3N. It's not easy to decide which bid wd be the best after 5♣. 6♣?7♣?6N?PASS?

15-17 pts 2-3-4-4 after partner opens 1 Spade
menggq replied to dickiegera's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
1.Many players bid 2♣,it doesnt promise ♣5+ 2.I also know someone bid 2N,it shows balance hand with 13hcp+ GF,doesnt mean ♠4+ FIT -
1C -1H 2NT- 3C = relay to 3D 3D = nat 3H =H6 3S = H4S4 3NT= TO PLAY with H4 balance hand 4C/D/S =SPL for good H suit 4H=TO PLAY 1C -1H 2NT-3C; 3D- pass = sign off show H4D6 weak hand 3H =H5 unbalance hand 3S =H5S4 3NT =H5 balance hand 4C =C FIT slam try balance hand 4D/S =SPL C FIT slam try ....... Here is not full convention for 1X/1Y 2N/? , if u wd like to use it sd discuss with yr pd before playing.
-
It's depend on what's convention u play.CAPP? DONT?...u decide with yr pd.

bidding 5-5 in the minors
menggq replied to senor bert's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
of course bid 1♦ -
I think the key question is what's the 3♦ meaning? 1.3♦=SPL ♦single ♣5+(since 2♣ can be 4-cards) 10hcp+ 2.3♦=good ♦suit inv hand I prefer 3♦=SPL for ♣ FIT ♦single.

Can you bid the grand after preempt?
menggq replied to dcohio's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
1C 3H 3N P 4H P 5C P 5H P 5S P 7C ALL PASS For precision sys: 1C= 16+any 3N=♥ stopper 9hcp+ 4H=cue bid with good hand and slam try 5C=suit 5H=♥first control(♥A/void) and ♣ suit FIT grand slam interesting. 5S=cue bid show ♠ first or second round control that's very important cue bid for grand slam otherwise bid 6♣ 7C=all key cards for 7♣ in pocket why not bid it?! if E has ♥A can bid 7N too. by the way i wd like to say if no preempt bidding from opp,7♣ wd be easier but dont forget use ERKCB asking. -
2♥ sd be passed since 2♥ no forcing just show ♠4/♥5 with no more than inv hcp. IF bid 3♥/♠ that's smolen with 4♥5♠/4♠5♥ GF. IF with inv hand 54 majors bid 2N again if pd accept inv to a game wd bid 3cards major when u hv 5 raise to 4M or bid 3N. IF with inv- hand just bid 5 cards major pd sd pass it.
