  1. perhaps a direct 1h 3s was 11-12 6s and via 1s it was gf with 6s 13+ gf with 5s gf going through 4th suit and 2s rebid non forcing 5s
  2. yes i understand but was not sure in your outline what they did with 5s and 8-10 since 1h -1s -2d - 2s was a game force there seemed to be no bid for this hand
  3. not sure if jumping with 8-10 and 5 spades would be the way to go due to missing 4-4 minor fits to often 2s strong gf with sing suit spades (ot h supt) seems better over 2h 2nt would then be ogust / gf relay type inquiry since 2h would now show 6 ( 1h 1s 1nt = 5332 or 5h 4s) and 2s over 2h ongoing 8-11 jumps to 3s 11-12 6 decent spades (old super precision) and weak spade hands via 1nt
  4. re opening x here would be straight out penalties 3 of a minor nat 5cds non forcing 2nt both minors a x by opener becomes co-op penalty
  5. there may be a slight vunerabilty to 3 or 4 of a minor intervention after 1h 1s but this seems a minor concern really and there are other benifits than the simple advantages like making it difficult to compete in spades
  6. they were apparently playing it in 2001 dont know if they still play it but it is a sound approach
  7. been wondering how to treat 1s in response to 1 heart decided showing 3cds with inv hands or 4+ with strong hands was best and recently noticed that meckstroth rodwell also use this approach does anyone know details of thier methods (saw they put long weak spades into 1nt which makes a lot of sense)
  8. what works for me over 3d is to use 3s as stoper ask in resp 3-cd suit (axx not a stop) i would normally break relay to 2nt once two suits are shown to show a semi solid suit (in one of the other two suits) so i dont need one of the rkcb (best is p shtg ) any more with these sorts of hands this allows p to place contract in and right side 3nt ( 4c = min no stop 4d+ max no stop )or realise that p may have wasted values oppissite a singelton the exact rules depend on strength of responder or relayer luck
  9. re phantom sac generally ace empty especialy ace doubleton should not be treated as a stopper nor often do you have to stoper ask before full shape is known splinters early oppisite 2- suited hands solve most other problems
  10. relay is only worth playing if incorperate breaks after balanced hands splinters and stoper ask then it is well worth while
  11. thanks all think i will play 1s as showing 3+ s and reverse gazilli seems to cope well with most hands ( 1h 1s 1nt shows 5332 min or 5h 4s min) luck all
  12. interested in the subtelties of swaping 1s and 1nt in response to one heart input appreciated.
  13. in forcing auctions at game level when you are deciding to bid or penalize why do some people revers pass and x ie x says i want to bid on pass says i want to penalize leaving it to p to x
  14. can anyone remember the pakistan pre-empt structure I think they played these in a world champ final with Zia at the table (2c might have been game force or weak d)
  15. do people think an average 5431 hand with 5 hearts and a 4 card minor is worth rebiding 3 of the minor over 1nt
  16. over 1nt x blood 2c ss h or d+h 2d majors or ss spades 2h hearts + clubs ( c often>h) 2s spades + m ( minor often longer) 2nt both minors 3c 3d ssm
  17. a solution to the prob u see is to play trans fers here x 5c limited or strong 1nt semi natural spades no 5 cd suit 2c trans d limited or strong 2d trans h limited or strong 2h strong t/o pass weak t/o 2s + =: 8 pt 2nt 19-21 big prob here is wrong siding but if p aceepts normaly weak and where u play
  18. used to play a system called heart bypass over pass pass is 11-14 bal over 1c / 1d x clasical t/o 1M shows good 5cd suit over 1h x 11-14 bal or 4h 11+ 1s to 2d natural 2h strong w/outh 2s+ strong f 1rnd (1nt 15-18)
  19. what do people think of using 5s as gsf for minors
  20. hi all have heard that transfers in to 5+ card suits is gaining in popularity. wondered on peoples thoghts on the subject with everyone re opening x and tnt for 9 at three level I can see there is a lot of merit in this. e.g. 1s 2d overcall. then x becomes 5h 2h becomes 4(3) h equivelent of a t/o x or 1h 2c overcall x = 5d 2d = 5s or possible 4+ s t/o interested in how people think higher level auctions are best handled and general merit
  21. not vul playing a wide range nt 9-13 where p can bid 2d 2h 2s natural nf 2c scramble scince p wont have a hand he can invite with and use 2nt 3-level responses as 5-5 ( 2nt weak c or 5-5 with c) these are only likely hands u may have game on after passing ( xcept poss 9-10 6c) vul u will get carved if you play this so strong vul 14-16
  22. thanks all appreciate the tips I appreciate the strong nt advice an was already seriously for all of the above nentioned in the en i think i will end 8-12 6d or 5d +m simarlar to 2c this will free up some of mt 1d structure so I can open some 11-12 s with majors which comes at least part from mM suggestions or both m/M
  23. hi working on precision style system based on 9-12 nt but it seems to be big loser vul (big winner not vul) looking for a sensible alt for 1nt as am happy with 1d struct incl strong 13-15 bal and can pass bal 12 currently using mod 2d multi 2h sht d weak 2c 8-12 precision any ideas appreciated
