A very good way to avoid XYZ problems (almost all) is to play weak NT 12-14. This also has the benefit of terrorizing the opponents.
-
Short suit cuebid.
-
K. Martens books about bidding are recommended. After trump agreement all suit bids except trumps are cuebids!

No somthing else and more oppurtunities. Why not take a look at my site www.fanfantunes.n.nu?

Yes 2C is not two-way but Always strong. Helps a lot.

Fantunes: 2-level transfers over 1C
snillrik13 replied to Tryggolaf's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
I Think Free is giving a good proposal. In my version of Fantunes www.fanfantunes.n.nu I use much the same but 2M is Reverse Flannery handling the tricky 5-4 in S/H very well. -
Fantunes 1C vs "natural" short club
snillrik13 replied to Kungsgeten's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
In Fantunes Lite www.fanfantunes.n.nu I have modified the club openings to 1C = 16+(15)balanced or unbalanced, a jump to 3C after a 1C opening is Acol 8+ tricks, 2C opening is only a two-suiter C+M, 2D Multi can be a 6-carder in clubs 12-15 and 3C is a strong 6- or 7-carder containing 7 probable tricks. On top of this 1C-1X>2C is 22+ one step ahead of a "normal" 2C GF. All system is guided versus IMP play. So the club gun is well loaded or? -
Pd opens 4S vul. Go slamming?
snillrik13 replied to diana_eva's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Spades is the boss suit or have I missed something? So you just open 1!S with a random partner and listen - no hurry. Vulnerable against White I cannot see six-loser hands or more be actual for a 4!S preempt. With your regular partner you surely apply Namyats or Another strong opening. -
I vote for Gazzilli especially the ultimate? version in my web site www.fan.fantunes where I use 2d Multi as 12-15 h or s suit, 6-carder. Then 1M-1NT>2M is M plus clubs and 12-15. Now 1NT-2c is always Gazzilli.

Polish club is a fine system, however, Fantunes Lite is a Little better as all one of a suit are forcing one round. If you are interested in a playable Fantunes system visit www.fanfantunes.n.nu

A Fantunes fans list is under design. See www.fantunesfans.n.nu -
Agree with two last opinions. Would like to add that a Multi 2NT should not be just for fun but reasonable to play. So 2NT = clubs or diamonds weak preempt as per your taste. I play 3 of a minor opening as very strong 7 tricks and have an Acol bid as a Little stronger 8-9 tricks. Works very well. This is a design for imp play. What to play in matchpoint might be Another subject.

Krzysztof Martens, coach of the Monaco team, has an interesting proposal. After trump agreement - show short suit. He regards this better than cuebidding aces first. Then he has a further twist: a raise of the singleton cue is a maximal hand in view of earlier bidding.Martens has written many good books but why not start with Camouflage, Waiting Bid.

Interesting decision from BBF vs JEC Oct. 4 2014
snillrik13 replied to Phil's topic in Expert-Class Bridge
With AKQxxxxx in spades and a side ace I Think a take-out double stands out, If you bid a direct 4S partner has no chance to guess your hand. Don´t forget spades is the boss suit. -
I Think there is a VERY simple solution. Just use a 2C opening as whatever you prefer and a rebid after 1C-1X>2C as a GF or 22-24 balanced. Good luck!

Take a look at "odwrotka" a la snillrik (myself) in www.fanfantunes.n.nu and you will find a super response system to 16-21 NT (after 1C - transfer and splitting 16-18 and 19-21))

Hi again Did you guys miss my second proposal? Club hands is a weak Point in all big club systems. That is main reason for this topic. Btw in oursystem (see fanfantunes@n.nu) we use 2NT as a Classic preempt in D or C, 3m as a strong preempt, 7 tricks to search 3NT or higher and we also experiment with 3C based on points and some 7 tricks to be integrated in Multi 2D. On top of this we also have Acol bids 1C - 1X > 3C. This might well boil down to using 5C4M (or weak6C4M)ONLY and not 6-carder in clubs when we open 2C......To me it seems the ultimate solution :) What do you say???

Overcalls versus strong club
snillrik13 replied to snillrik13's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Foobar this suggestion of yours looks good. I like the idea of having X as balanced 7+ allowing opener to pass for penalty.I prefer cuebid in opps suit as GF then and still like Leb. 3-level your way to bid is fine. -
So what you are afraid of is a penalty opening also with 5-4? Then the next question is how do you bid non-reverse 5-4 hands? Calub hands is a weak Point in all big club systems. This might well boil down to using 5C4M (or weak6C4M)ONLY and not 6-carder in clubs when we open 2C......To me it seems the ultimate solution :)

Do you see any big disadvatage with having both 6C and 5C4M as possible hands after a 2C opening?

Overcalls versus strong club
snillrik13 replied to snillrik13's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Forgot X if balanced 6-10 -
You open 1C and LHO interferes. What is your preference? In Fantunes Lite www.fanfantunes@n.nu 1D, 1H and 1S are all F1 and can be strong we bid pass = 0-5 or 10+ transfers from 1NT and up with 6-10 vs 2M jump we use Lebensohl

Questions on riton 2C and Roman 2M
snillrik13 replied to yunling's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
2M showing 5-4+ in M/!C is essential playing imps and Gazzilli. Much easier to find crucial games and slams. Also as Ritong says less sensitive for preempts. Playing match Points maybe weak two is better.
