  1. I assume he is planning to repeat the diamond finesse and when West followed suit, he saw he would make it if diamonds are 4-1 with West then having 3 or 4, so I would rule -3 ( 6x spades and 1x diamond).
  2. I can never understand cases like this -- how does a person reaching for a pass card end up with 1♣? It is in a different section of the box. Ones mind is a curious thing..... if you just happen to be thinking you should have opened 1♣ on the previous board there is a chance you might actually bid 1♣ instead of wanting to pass. The most famous one when ones mind is not operating in sync with ones hands, is when you open 1M and partner bid 3m as Bergen. Now you decide you wont accept the game-invitation and pass!
  3. Yes, Congratulations David!! well done! it is difficult to exceed expectations if everyone thinks you will be nr. 1 so I wonder did you B) :)
  4. Well it seems that North figured out the meaning of 4♠ before he finished executing bidding his bid, so IMO I would let him change the bid, but according to the regulations it seems ok to decide on the contrary. I would say that there is UI but there seems to be a remote chance that anyone can benefit from using them. Its normal that people forget conventions and how many times have you seen people handling 5♣ and then changing it to 5♦ when anwering 4NT (when changing from 3014 to 4130). Would you only allow the change if players didnt see the 5♣ bid? I think you should change the regulations B) :) .
  5. well, you cant have everything.... but now you can stop in 3x or bid your way to any sensible slam knowing what you are doing instead of only having the singleton as a forcing bid
  6. Compliments to the boxes I have been too lazy to go through since I moved 10 years ago....... One of the best ever transfer situation is after Opener shows 4441 with a bid below the singleton.... f.ex. in Multi 2♦ - 2♥; 3♣ showing 4-4-1-4 now 3♦ = ♥ 3♥ = ♠ 3♠ = ♣ Next step can be asking for losers, very effective as you know distribution and now you just count covercards and place the contract. 2nd step to be a relay to next bid and then you ask for losers if you have singleton in the 4-card suits counted from below, recurring again but now with voids in 4-card suits counted from below. 3rd step could be RKC as you have already set the suit.. Another one for you playing 2♣ Precision. Have you tried to find a transfer scheme after 2♣ (which doesnt deny 4-card major) and come up short? Let the opponents help you with a X and see it all works!!! xx = At least inv. hand that would have bid 2♦ without the double. 2♦ = ♥ 2♥ = ♠ 2♠ = ♦ or alterntively good bal. inv. with ♣. 2NT = bad or very good ♣-raise 3♣ = inv. ♣-raise with at least 4-card support. I guess Im a couple of years too late with this stuff as it hasnt been usefull to me after moving away from strong club systems more or less 16 years ago. Have you tried to make a
  7. Personally I think its enough to play 2 systems. One NV and one V. Ofcourse optimal you would like so, but I think because of memory strain and because of extra burden to players having to learn new things instead of relying on their subconscious to just decide more or less for them... I really like to play strong clubs systems when opponents are V. as its not as easy for them to overcall without risking more. Right now for easy to learn and very productive systems I would pick ETM spry when NV and ETM Gold or Victory when V.
  8. what version was it that had 1♦ as 44+ in majors? It also had a 11-14 nt opening that denied 4-card major...
