  1. Hi, What is the best way to defend against these (1C with transfer responses) methods? BR Viren
  2. Hi, I'm in the bidder's camp... 4S for me. ps I would have bid 4S on the previous round! BR Viren
  3. #1. Dble for now, and convert 4C to 4H, and 4S if Pd bids 4D/H I dont like 4S due to pd is unlikely to do anything sensible that is going to help. Although, I do like (over 4S) 4N as weak rely to 5C to play at 5 level and a direct 5x as natural and constructive. #2. I would open 1H and rebid 3D (if I survive the 1H opening!) I dont like 2C, however 2C-2H-3H is GF in my book. BR Viren
  4. Hi, I think you could make all sorts of partnership agreements for this dble, what I play with my partner(s) is as follows. - With a min and no 4-card major I would Pass - With a 4-card major and 12-14 I would bid 3M - With a 4-card maj and 15-17 hand I would bid 4M - With a 4-card maj and 18+ hand I would bid 4C - With a non-min and no 4 card major I would dble leaving decision to partner BR Viren
  5. Hi, I think there are really only 2 bids (3S/4D) on this problem. With a pick-up partner I would bid 4D, and with a regular partner 3S (and pull 3N to 4D). BR Viren
  6. Hi, Interesting question! I think I fit more closely into the option 4 camp... (more by luck than judgement because I dont have enough experience in using this method yet) I play that responder can get either side of the partnership to play the NT by either showing his/her shape, or by bidding NT. BR Viren
  7. Hi, Great summary of the system! I play strong NT and didnt realise/understand some of the benefits and advantages that the system gives you! Thanks, Viren
  8. Hi, I currently play the following (although it has never come up yet!) 1♣-1♦ ? 3♦= splinter with 6+ clubs and 3 hearts GF 3♥= inv with 4 hearts 3♠= splinter agreeing hearts And coping with the 4441 hands as follows... Opening 4441 with 15-17/12-14 a. 4414/4441 with 15-17 open 1N b. 1444/4144 with 15-17 open 1♦ and rebid NT c. 4414/4441 with 12-14 open 1♣ d. 1444/4144 with 12-14 open 1♦ and rebid 1♠/2♣ This looks a bit messy... any improvements/suggesstions would be most welsome! BR Viren
  9. Hi, Firstly, I must apologise to Fluffy (and others) that this is indeed the wrong forum. I am new to this forum. Back to the problem... Pass: seems a bit passive 4C: Is this forcing or non-forcing? 5C: Aceless hand - a bit pushy 3N: where are the spades? No raise on your right. No dble by pd BR Viren
  10. I think 2D is fine for now... followed by 4D splinter on my next bid... BR Viren
  11. Interesting hand that created a lot of discussion... What do you bid with the following hand at RED playing IMPs? ♠ J ♥ K 7 5 4 ♦ J ♣ K Q J 9 8 4 2 (2S) 3D (P) ? BR Viren
  12. Hi, As I have gone out of my to locate the heart fit. I guess I should bid 4H now. 4D is an interesting bid... ps I think 3D is a better description of the hand rather than the dble. BR Viren
  13. Hi, As well as the 1345/3145 hands being difficult to bid. How would you handle the 4441/4414 (15-17) hcps using the 1C transfer system? BR Viren
  14. Ummmmm, Not many responses.... I guess it is not as popular as I thought?!?! BR Viren
  15. Hi, I think 1N should be constructive with about 7-11 with a stop. Anything less, perhaps a pass is best, and wait for pd to reopen. BR Viren
  16. Hi, 3D seems right here, It is not worth reversing into a poor suit. Ocassionally I am happy to mis our 4-4 maj fit. Viren
  17. Hi, 1S seems right for this hand. The downside is that Pd may pass when you have game, there are many upsides, as pointed out by others! Besides the opps are usually there to balance - I havent played in a 1-level contract below 1N for some time! Regards, Viren
  18. Hi, I see that some partnerships playing 2/1 and SAYC have adopted the 1C with transfer responses. What are the advantages and disadvantages of playing this? Thanks, Viren
