  1. Excellent presentation and very kind of you to share. Your getting my vote for most helpful post of the year. Thanks.
  2. Would you be quite as confident in finding the 4/4 ♥ fit if the opponents bid: 1♣ P 2♣ 2or3♠ ?
  3. After a couple of passes your partner opens 1 Major, righty pre-empts. Something like [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=pp1s3c]133|100[/hv] Would a call of 3♦ or 3♥ show a fit suggesting a limit raise? and 3♠ just a competative call? If not then please suggest what it might show.
  4. I would always pre-empt with this hand. I don't see any glaring flaw...seems more or less textbook 3♦. 3♦ = 10 2♦ = 3 4♦ = 3 pass = 1
  5. I was thinking pass when I first read the post. After reading the replies I'm now convinced.
  6. I doubt many would play X as penalty....so IMO with only a dub ♠ there is nothing easy about X in the balance!, 3♣ maybe.
  7. Quite clear to pass. 3rd seat I would bid 2♦.
  8. I very much doubt you'll get a convincing answer to your basic question. I wonder how one would go about "proving" their respective point of view. FWIW I never 2/1 with 4 or more trumps and I never Jacoby with a stiff or void. This is clearly a splinter for me. I've been playing that system for a long time. I think it works ok. One think for sure. With 9+ card fit and the 3 top honors it would be unlikely to drop a trump trick, the same cannot be said if the trump length may only be 8. Splinters show 4 or more trumps and are unlimited for me. I don't understand why folks apply a top limit "to make the bid effective". Perhaps, they will respond.
  9. MATCHPOINTS your call? [hv=pc=n&e=st63haq9dq653c943&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1hp2h2spp]133|200[/hv]
  10. [hv=pc=n&s=sa7hj95daq95caj85&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=2hpp2sp]133|200[/hv] Can you probe 3NT here?. Sad fact is we had no real agreements in place. Would a new suit be F1 suggesting a fit? What is 3♥?
  11. 1♠ wtp? No close second this really should be auto.
  12. Perhaps this is expert treatment, but I don't get it. With 3154 why not 2♠, then 2NT is 2254, and 3♥1354 Can South ever have only 5♥ maybe 4513
  13. Yep, you got what you deserve, so don't make matters worse....just pass. You might get a bit more sympathy had your minors been reversed. :)
  14. 1m - 2♥ = weak 1♦ - 1♥ - 2♣ - 2♥ = NF why I/A ?
  15. Yep, I think you're right. I was the culprit. I think my 3rd bid should be 3♠ or possibly 4♣
  16. [hv=pc=n&s=s5hajt987dt2ck952&n=sa64hqdaj963caq84&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1dp1hp2cp2hp2np3cppp]266|200[/hv] MATCHPOINTS who's fault
  17. Agree with the bidding? [hv=pc=n&s=skq872hqjdj8cj872&n=s5hak3dakt4cq9654&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1d1s1np2c2h3cppp]266|200[/hv]
  18. If partner has a bust, I would still expect to make 9 tricks unless he also has 0/1 ♠. 18 points, 3 or 4 expected tricks on defence, what else do you need for 2♣.
  19. At MP's I'm bidding ♥ and have no qualms about it. Not so clear at IMPs. If I'm running out of time in the match, then bidding may pay off big time. Partner's presumed strength is behind the SNT, indicating bidding may be safer than it seems. Problem is, partner may expect more, but thats a risk I'm willing to take. Bid 2♥
  20. This is a horrible overcall which got what it deserved IMO. Agree with Aqua that bidding 2!c/1!D is likeable, but this is way too much of a stretch. I don't think it needs the "trifecta" to make it a bad call, it's just bad.
  21. The ACBL is an amazing organization. Thanks BridgeWinners
  22. I'm 1 of the dumb 2♥ bidders....thanks Justin.

    Breaking news

    Well done, congratulations
  24. Playing Standard with 15-17 NT, you as an unpassed hand make a simple 2/1 (10+ pts.) response. Which of the following rebids by opener can be passed. I play that only example 1 is forcing, do you agree. 1. New suit at 2 level 1♥>>2♣ 2♦>>F1 2. Simple rebid of opener's suit 1♥>>2♣ 2♥>>NF 3. 2NT rebid 1♥>>2♣ 2NT>>NF 4. Simple raise of responder's suit 1♥>>2♣ 3♣>>NF
