  1. Imps all vul (1C) P (1H) KQJTxxx x Txxx Q If you where the opener would you open the 74 4S? Generally 74 like to be bid at the 4 level so I would be looking at opening this 4S. I'm happy with (and a going to bid 9/10 times) 4S. Chronos.
  2. There are some continuations with other bids that make The_Hog's version more interesting... Over 1m a 2D overcall in Intermediate in a Major. The only thing I wasn't all that sure of, is what you do with a 6 card major and partner Staymans. What are the continuations? Do you show a six card suit somehow? Or Does partner guess? Is there a risk that partner guesses badly and you miss slam? Just some thoughts. Chronos.
  3. Polish/Raport would be my preference if played, but I'd want to bid 2D at the table. With agreement that partner cue raises with strong hands, Double would be nice, but that needs to be agreed. Hopefully, partner will bid 2H with a D fit or a good hand. The question is, will you bid 3H after the following auction: (1S) 2D / 2NT / ? Chronos.
  4. Playing undiscussed, this would be a helper suit trial. Generally I'd vote for long suit trial, but I am playing some relay bids after this auction. Chronos.
  5. I'm in agreement with Ron (The_Hog) Playing Precision, I hold: S: JTXX H: QXX D: X C: AT9XX After the auction: 1C / 1D 2D 2H / ?? I would be bidding 3D and correcting 3NT to 4H. This should show extra values although I would not be adverse to bidding 4C as this would (should be) interpreted as fit showing. The part of this auction that I think should be addressed is what partner has for 2H. Given that partner can pass the 2D overcall, bidding in this situation should be showing something extra. I'm not convinced that we have the possibility of a Spade fit, as partner could have made a T/O of 2D if they held a hand playable in both majors. Just my 2c worth. Chronos.
  6. There is the implication that 1C - 1NT holds 4 Clubs by default, however I am not adverse to bidding 1NT with 4D if the Diamonds are very bad. I would never bypass a four card major over 1C. Chronos.
  7. Double has the advantage of setting up a penalty pass situation, but playing against quality opponents what are the odds of getting a reasonable result by passing. How are you going to feel when the auction comes back to you at 2D or 2H? I know that playing against quality opponents they are like to find better spot if we are going to get rich from 1S X. I would bid 2C, as this is going to lead to the best spot in most situations. If partner has the penalty pass, then I'll be :) but I'll stand by the decision. Chronos.
