Take out doubles will be more frequent, partner can still convert it to a penalty double. This means that you pass with 4+ cards in opponents suit and partner is forced to double with shortness (xx) in that suit. Competing for a partscore is important. You can use this in combination with Lebensohl as well as with Rubensohl.

Can't login BBO windows version since 1 hour. Before it worked fine. Firewall port 80 and port 9999 are open. changed port=80 in bbover.ini but then I cant login at all I can see the first window when BBO starts to show the number of players that are logged in, before it can go to the next window connction is lost: reconnecting. I can login on the web version, but I rather commit suicide than play on that version, for multiple reasons. HELP!

GIB is inferior bridge software, better play with Jack, you waste your time finding out how GIB robots bid and/or play. Jack is multiple world champion.

I follow the law for unbalanced hands, your hand is balanced. For balanced hands I bid a trick less. If your hand would contain a singleton somewhere I would bid 4♥, with a balanced hand and a 5 card ♥ I bid 3♥.

As I expected, to bring up this subject was completely useless because the people responding other than Fred have no clue, you all did not see what he wrote? Or what I wrote? I am sure you are used to comparing 10 scores at your local club, but for a field this large it is a joke. It can't be changed so I will live with it, but it is not a good scoring method, see Fred's replies. Everybody ignores that OKB uses 52 scores, WHATEVER scoring method they use, and any large tourney uses much more data. You all want to compare BBO with scoring at your local club, thats fine, you just miss the point. I will never ever in my life post something here again, it is a total waste of time, (except Fred's reply that is). All comments are about details which do not matter very much.

If you think there are 2 kinds of bridge: serious bridge and non serious bridge, then this club should change the name: Non serious bridge base online, www.nonseriousbriggebase.com But non serious bridge is a joke, there is only 1 game and it's called bridge. If you like to play a non serious game, there are plenty of kids games you can play on the net, where you don't have to use your brain, and cheating and score don't mean a thing.

And there you go again, not answering the question not sticking to the subject, I asked you, if you just want to be a pain, then I prefer not to have your reply here, it is not leading anywhere. The point was that on a flat board you may have a 6 IMP plus or minus (for all 14 pairs that "scored normal") on 50+% of the boards. That would never happen in a serious scoring system, ever. This is the last time I respond to any post or reply from Gerardo.

Ok Fred thats a pity, but a fair answer. I was just irritated by the responses of someone talking about XIMP or butler, this was not the issue.

I will be happy to put you on my list, but I have to charge a small fee, to cover the wages of the bookkeepers I use to manage my BBO lists. The 2010 fee for such a service will be 25 EURO, so conversion according to todays rates the amout will be around 1000 USD, after you send an email confirming you agree I will tell you my bank details.

sigh, you are very stubborn, if you dont want to solve problems, then don't respond please, you know perfectly well what I mean, if I don't use the right lingo does not mean you should insist to discuss averages. The point is 2 pairs score an odd result this affects the rest of the scores and it should not, also to make a score from 16 pairs in the largest field on the planet is absolutely ridiculous, I expect this at the local club, not in a place where as many as 17000 players are online at the same time. On OKB they USE (see, I do not use the word AVERAGE) the scores of 52 pairs to make results for everyone else, and the top 2 and bottom 2 are not counted for the calculation of the results of the other 48 pairs, but they are for the 4 extremes, see I didnt use AVERAGE again.

The last couple of days I spent quite a few hours to edit my blacklist from the webversion, I had around 1500 blacklisted and I deleted 900. Of all those remaining I had a note in their profile why they were on my list. Now since I deleted those 900 of the remaining 600 the last few in the list being online do not have a note anymore, only the last few, even when I add it again, the next time I log in (or the next day I am not sure which) the notes disappeared again. For some blacklisted I repeated to add the notes for over 5 times, I am not that old or that blond that I forgot. How can this happen and how can it be fixed or prevented? Martin Amorison

Nor you should what? This result should be taken out for the calculation for everyone except the pair that played 7NT XX down any number, your replies are not related to the subject or you read wrong.

whatever the base is, butler or XIMPS, 16 scores is not enough, the base is not what this post is about it is about the big plusses and minusses you score on 1 board because so few pairs played it and because 1 huge score from others influences your score too much

the web version has too many flaws still

OKB as I said compares 52 pairs and does not count the 2 tops and the 2 bottoms for the average

16 boards is by far not enough, and 12 is nothing, only large tourneys will have normal results, using 12 gives random outcomes, if you do not believe me, ask others

She said half a board, not half an hour. 3 boards is only 10-15 minutes. Half an hour is ok, np at all, the problem is players staying shorter and not mentioning they will leave soon.

People accepting team games and never mention this just disappear, this usually happens within the first few boards of playing, VERY often in board 1. I made notes on all the people I blacklisted, many notes say: left in board 1 for a tourney (or team game)
