  1. Is it so clear that the 2♣ bid should be alerted? Even if it is alerted, isn't it an unnatural bid since a natural suit bid would require 4 or more cards. So would a systemic 2♣ bid be GCC legal?
  2. Thanks! It is quite frustrating to learn about better methods but not be allowed to play them :)
  3. Hi, Maybe I'm missing something, but my question is whether it is allowed by the ACBL GCC or is it mid-chart or higher. I found the links, but the links don't say whether I could play it in , for example, a mini-spingold
  4. Using a conventional bid (2D) to show 18-19 balanced without a 5 card major, what is a good use for the jump to 2NT after 1m opener? I came across a website that discussed one use, but am unable to find that page again. Are there a few standard-ish uses for this jump to 2nt?
  5. I tried to search the web for this, but could not find a definitive answer.
  6. Maybe I should explain where I was coming from. I was learning precision and WJ05, and thought I'd play around with my current system by incorporating some ideas. For example, (and these ideas I got from WJ05) I like using 1C for all weak NT hands. Then 1D shows an unbalanced hand. If I suddenly spring the whole Polish Club on my unsuspecting partner, I think that would be unwise. So I was looking to incorporate some ideas from Precision and Polish club in a 2/1 framework, so that we are both comfortable and learning some new stuff at the same time, and can gradually move towards the whole system. Thanks for your replies all.
  7. Yeah, you;re right. Sorry, stupid question.
  8. Is it possible to use the 2C opening to show a precision 2C hand (6+ clubs, 11-15) in a 2/1 framework? I'm stumped because how would one show a 2/1 2C opener then? I tried searching for this in these forums, but didn;t find any. Does any one play a precision style 2/1 in a SAYC or 2/1 framework? How do you handle GF hands if you do? Thanks
  9. Thanks very much for all your excellent replies. I'll just follow Helgemo (my hero) on this one - I believe he refuses to play -sohl in such sequences and also over weak 2's
  10. Hi, I was listening to someone a sequence in which the opponents opens the bidding, and partner in balancing seat doubles. (sorry, don;t remember all the details). And they they said would 2NT by the partner of the doubler would be scrambling. What is scrambling 2NT? Is there any place on the web or any book that I can read up on it? Thanks
