  1. Actually Nadal beat Federer on Rolan Garros final only 3 times, he beat him once at Wimbledon and once at Australian Open, so on all 3 surfaces, as for Federer he only beat Nadal in finals on grass. The level of competition is higher now than in Sampras era? That era you had the claycourt specialists - Bruguera, Kuerten (who, let's not forget, beat Federer at French 6-4,6-4,6-4 on 2004, a year when Roger won all other 3 majors) and the grass specialists - Ivanisevic, Becker, Krajicek and you can add a Rafter or Agassi. How about now? 3 (THREE) years running same players reached the final at Roland Garros and Wimbledon!!! So you either have those 2 as the best players ever or the competition is very poor.
  2. Not really surprised. It is not sure he is the best player of his generation (Nadal anyone, what's their head to head record in GS finals?). In my view (sure, lots of people will disagree) he was really lucky to have lived in an era full of not necessarily unskilled players, but mentally weak players. Remember how Roddick threw away the second set tiebreak, it was pathetic (especially the 6-5 unforced error). Nadal is not as talented as Federer is, but is mentally stronger, and Roger wilted and cried a few times.
  3. would Precision players give me some good ideas? their preferred structure maybe? ty all.
  4. spade to the Ace, K♥ with diamond discard J♥ ruff small small spade to the T only need ♠ 3-2
  5. you deal at IMP, favourable and hold: ♠ 8754 ♥ 3 ♦ AKQ97 ♣ 963 bidding goes: P P 1♣ 1♥ X XX 1N 2♥ 2N X P 3♦ X 3♥ X P P P please feel free to comment on the bidding also
  6. playing 2/1, MP, fav RHO pass in first seat you hold: ♠ 9x ♥ KJT9 ♦ KQJTxx ♣ x what now?
  7. I'd play too. I hope I made enough posts already to qualify.
  8. 2. why play K♣ at trick 2? at trick 2 ruff a ♥, cross on A♠, ruff another ♥ (since W didnt open 2♥ he probably does not have 6 of them), AK♦ with ♠ pitch, ♠ ruff, ♥ ruff, leaving this position: ♠Q ♦Qxxx ♥10 ♣KQJ8 now play ♦Q and with at least one diamond still outstanding we are cold for 4 more tricks. all it's needed is ♦ 4-2 or better, and we might survive ♦5-1 with singleton in E if hearts break 4-4
  9. I'd guess partner has: K AJx AKJxxx KQx and I would pass. But I am aware he might also be: J AKx AKJxxx KQx.
  10. win A♣ cash A♥ and ruff a ♥ cash AK♠ and ruff a ♠ ruff a ♥ cash K♣ small to A♦ cash the last 2 ♣ - if they overruff me at any point I am down - if Q♠ or K♥ are coming down it is cold - else, in the endgame, I might have a double squeze if W has Q♠ and E has K♥ or I have to play for ♦ finesse

    X?

I bid 6♥, I am expecting part to have a ♠ void, so 6♥ will be max -1. In 5♠ we might win 2♠ tricks, but most likely no ♥ tricks, and if we win a ♦ trick it means we can make 6♥.
  12. I guess it is very possible the 1NT bidder is 4423, the 3NT bidder 4333, leaving partner with 4405. I would bid 4♦ at IMPs and pass at MPs.
  13. how about keeping 10♥ and discarding a small ♣ on the 4th ♠, cashing AK♣, crossing to Q♦ and playing the last ♠ from dummy. this will make anytime W has Q♣ or E has it doubleton or less.
  14. if LHO is 1-5-1-6 we are cold no matter what, either LHO or RHO will be endplayed to give us the 9th trick. if LHO is 1-5-2-5 we must play 2 diamonds and hope LHO has AS, if we play a third one it might be easy for him to ditch the A of spades. if LHO is 1-5-3-4 playing 2 rounds of D and exiting a spade will not hurt if his singleton spade is A or K, we will still make it ...
  15. did LHO started with: ♠A ♥xxxxx ♦xx ♣AQxxx ? play 4 rounds of ♥, 2 rounds of ♦ and exit with ♠. In the end we will score 4♥ + 3♦ + 2♣
  16. IMP's, unfavourable vulnerability You are dealt: ♠ --- ♥ KJ54 ♦ AQJT2 ♣ Q842 You open a strong club 1♦ (11-15 HCP, 1+♦) in first seat. The bidding goes: 1♦ - 4♠ - pass - pass - ?? back to you. What now?
