ok that's too bad. I guess I may as well just keep clicking that I haven't gone away then. Thanks for the reply even if it wasn't the answer that I had hoped for.

Is there a "Time Out" setting that can be adjusted by the individual BBO member? If not what time is it set for? I attend a class on BBO which is largely just a series of lectures and occasionally BBQ thinks I'm no longer there. I'd like to adjust the setting to the length of the class (which is sometimes close to 2 hours) if that is possible. Thanks for your assistance!

I'd like to play twice a week to reinforce my knowledge of Cuebids, NMF, 4th Suit Forcing, DONT etc.

If our Robots did NOT (attempt to) play 2 over 1 they would be highly valued tool for Beginners and Intermediates trying to learn the more common conventions. Even if they played 2 over 1 with some accuracy it would help. It's just a shame that they are so unreliable in bidding.

Is this possible? I've tried opening the hand in the Hand Editor and Editing. I can change players names, cards, vulnerability but nothing I try seems to change the position of the dealer. Obviously I'm overlooking something. I'm ready to admit defeat and ask for help. Thanks!

I may not have been clear. I already have a number of hands saved in "My Hands" folders manually entered, and saved and I can use them as a deal source. My objective is to find a way that I can transfer some of them to my partner to also practice with when I'm not available. Being already in my folder they would already be in Lin format but I don't know how to get them to her. Can I download them and email her the lin files to import to her own "My Hands" folder? Thanks so MUCH for taking the time to reply!

I'm looking for way of saving my hands to actually play so that I can send them to my partner. Is that the result of this tool? To be able to play the hand or just to study it like a screen capture. If this IS the tool I've been searching for, how do I go about finding that HV code for the hand to copy it into the spread sheet? Thanks!

I'd very much like to know if there's a way that I can share hands that I've made using the Hand Editor with my partner. I've tried sending a hand to her BBO account but it ends up as a screen shot and NOT a hand to be practiced playing. I do have some programming experience (Visual Basic) not C so if I had to I could learn to use the Dealer but if there's an easier way to transfer hands, I'd rather focus on learning to play better Bridge. Thanks in advance for any replies to this question.

I've been trying to get to teaching tables for nearly a week now without success. Right now, there's suppose to be a lesson in BILies Retreat that I wanted to sit in on and while I can see there's a table there, I can't get to it. PLEASE can someone tell me what it is that I'm missing to get there. I hate to miss yet another opportunity to learn something! Thanks for any assistance!

I've been trying to access BILies Retreat for a lesson that started a few minutes ago. I see there's one table there but I can't get to it. PLUS... I know it uses VOICE but I found nowhere on BBO that explains where I download whatever is needed to hear voice. Can anyone offer me some wisdom?

Thanks so much for your reply. I don't have great memorization skills but I was hoping to find some resource that would give me a general understanding of what to look for in order to make an informed decision on order of play. I've downloaded Suitplay and it does calculate percentages of the distribution I enter but it does not explain. It may well be that this is a topic still too far over my head if I can't even find a way to learn the basics. Your column sounds very informational but I guess I'm looking for a collection of those columns to get an understanding of what is involved. Thanks again, Judy

Maybe there is more than one "Suitplay". I downloaded it and opened it but it seems to be blank. Apparently I have to enter the cards held in North and South and then I play them. Does this sound like what you had in mind? Since I don't know anything about it yet, I was kind of hoping that it would show ME combinations and teach me the best way to play them so I could start to memorize the most common combinations and how to handle them.

Thanks for all the input. I've seen the term used in Bridge Baron. (Although since no one here has heard of it I'll need to watch more closely to verify that I haven't mangled it). I DO know that what ever the term was it did not make sense to me. I was used in explaining hand evaluations (Before I can see partner's hand) so I suspect that Cyberyeti may have it figured out. I peek a lot at hand evaluations to get a better sense of what to look for when deciding on a bid. It is NOT by mistake that I'm posting here in the Beginning/Novice forum. I understand simple stoppers like A and Kx but I still count AJx as 1 stopper. Is there an article somewhere here that explains how the Js are counted as stoppers? Thanks again for all the various insights. Oh and I agree that "half double" sounds like a single!

Hoping someone can explain the various types of "stoppers".

Is there an area where one can sit at a teaching table?

I've been studying books to learn American Contract Bridge and I would like some more practice playing. I'm familiar with 5 card majors, Stayman, Blackwood, Gerber, and Jacoby transfers. I'm also happy to be educated when I do something wrong. I'm hoping that with some regular practice my play willing will improve. A mentor would be fantastic but even another Novice could be helpful.
