  1. Ok. And what about result? Adjust? A ridiculous contract might affect the rest of the results in the tournament. i.e.: if everybody plays and wins 4 hearts and a pair plays, lets say 5 spades because on account of a misclick on the 1st round player believes his pd has spades and corrects contract to spades in a competitive bidding ... he going down will affect all of the other results of the hand. And IF adjusting, would that be A== / A+- (minus to the pair who misclicked?) or just leave the result as it is.... Many times a TD arrives a the table when "all is cooked" already... 2. I've opened the "undo" option with no hesitation when a player opens 7nt... and leaves... I replace him and open the undo, allow his sub to undo the bid and start again because there has been no other bid except perhaps a double from opps, and eventually a redouble from the bidder... but a fresh start does not give new info to pd or opps. But there are many times that after the misclick, opps bid or pass. In that case there may be damage for one of the partnerships. And there is no time in clocked tournaments to open the undos, allow the undos and close again the option In additon many times you deal with players who hardly understand the language. If I allow undo for one table, I have to allow undo for everybody misclicking and that would be an absolute hell in large tournaments. Except, of course, you allow undos for everybody, from the start. But I find this is frequently abused. I rather not allow them. Veronica - allspice
  3. Many times, running tournaments where no Undo is allowed, a player calls to tell he misclicked bidding and his bid is completely misleading opps and pd on his holdings. Can you suggest how to proceed? I try to apply the rules I learnt when TDing live tournaments, but that was about 30 years ago.. and things have changed a lot since then. On those days, opps should know no more than pd knew, so there was no need of explaining. And, of course, there were no misclicks... I've been telling player to go on bidding, try to correct if possible and after bidding is over, if he is defender, to inform declarer privately that his bid was a misclick; if he is declarer, to inform opps before the lead, that his bid was a misclick, or to inform opps in the alert window, when his bid can affect or modify opps bids. Is there a rule about it? I would very much appreciate some brainstorm on this issue! Veronica - allspice :)
  4. I've been TDing lately about 2 or 3 Free tournaments a day (B4F - Irish Eyes - Rush Tournament - Nothing Else to Play) and I can assure you that sometimes I think I am back in Kindergarden!!! Unbelievable the calls you receive on this issues. Please keep in mind that many players don't speak a fluent English, and literal translations (as provided by Google -many use this feature) sometimes might sound rude or not polite, but its not what the "writer" meant. Also, when in writting the phrase has the "tone" of the reader's mood, not of the writer's. Think of a phrase and say it with different tones and it completely changes the sense (try with wdp just for an example). I've had to deal with hundreds of misunderstandings (and not misunderstandings) which is the hardest job a TD has: you must rely on he said she said... (except when you don't have the GIB to ajust hands on a clocked tournament <_<)! Veronica - allspice
  5. Many times, a player gets red, we get to the table, we ask pd, and when after 20 seconds there is no coming back, we hit the "replacement" key. The replacement takes its time, and while waiting, woshhh! back comes the player. Is there any way to stop the process? It's not easy to explain the disconnected player how the replacing works (sometimes he doesn't even speak English) and many times he want his place back... which causes a lot of trouble and talking and time to make things right again. Thank you!!!! allspice - Veronica
  6. Thank you so much, Uday, for your answer, and Fred for your patience! I've tried what you suggest already, before this update issue. I'm so very used to the Windows version that the Web client results a little awkward, but I hope I'll get used to it, time given. It has many enhanced features, though I hope it will get better in the future. What I find still better in the Win.V. vs Web.C. is: 1. Win V: Whenever I replace a player, I see it immediately WebC: I have to leave the table to see the changes. Sometimes another TD does the replacement and you don’t see it from “inside” the table. 2. WinV: Player can replace his disconnected pd (choosing himself (saving TDs of a lot of complaints against the sub...) WebC: Player can't replace his disconnected pd 3. WinV: Its fast WebC: things seem to happen in a slow motion What I find better in the W.C. version is: 1. WebC: I can see all the pending calls to all TDs WinV: I only see my calls. I can't send a msg to caller that I'm on my way 2. WebC: When I receive a call, it doesn't block what I am doing WinV: When I receive a call, whatever I'm doing is interrupted (even macros) 3. WebC: When I check a player’s hand history, I can see results for all hands played, and in a much better display WinV: I only see the hands played, results, but not scores and not too clearly. What I would like BBO to improve is: In both versions: 1. Whenever a hand is being played, TD can't see the full hands. We must wait until the hand is finished to see the 4 full hands displayed 2. It would be very convenient to be able to se the traveller of a hand before the end of the tournament. Sometimes we must adjust a hand, where one partnership suffered damage and we don't know if we are really improving their score or the other way round... So we must wait until the end of the tournament to do so. 3. To eliminate a player from a sub-list (exclusive for the tournament we are TDing) we have some players that when replaced keep going into the sub list again, even if blacklisted. WinV: Scores do not appear when we see the hand history of a player. Just the contract and the result... Yes, we should be able to know what the result is... but not the IMPs or the % obtained. WebC: To share the list of subs is quite an inconvenience. Too many times we are rejected because players just wanted to sub, for instance, for goulash and not for a clocked tournament. A list just for the tournament works better, though a "general list" for those who ask "find me a place to play" is convenient when you run off subs or when “any” sub results convenient. (From this "exclusive" list of subs, to be able to eliminate a chosen one, as said before) And one more thing: There is some cheating going on in some tournaments. It’s quite curious, if you just take a look at the results that whenever a tournament allows kibitzing, the matchpoints of the winner are way above 80%. If kibitzing is not allowed, a 10% less is generally obtained. I don’t think cheating will be completely avoided just by closing kibitzing. MSN, Skype and even the telephone company provide enough means for those who want to cheat. But, is there a way to know, for instance, if 2 players with the same location or IP are logged? Just, for example, a different colour (as hosts are yellow, and friends are violet, and disconn are red…) let’s say, if 2 players are on the same location or IP, they both appear in a different colour or with a sign (#1..2..3) beside their name? Many couples play from the same location and that is not indicative of cheating. But it would surely be a hint when we find those few players with a curious and miracolous insight on opps hands. Thanks very much again! I live in a farm and didn't play bridge for 25 years... until Internet and BBO arrived here! Veronica - allspice
  7. I have managed up to now to elude the upgrade of my Windows version. I will try to do so until I hear the problem with the GIB is over. I put up clocked tournaments (RUSH TOURNAMENTS, 5' per hand) and adjust about 10 hands pero round and without the GIB this will provoke endless arguments...and I wouldn't have time to finish the job in time for the next round. Furthermore, my co-TD upgraded his version and now can't help adjusting nor even with his web version (he alerted me about the issue). I wonder: if I log through the Web Client, will I have the GIB for adjustements available? Will that affect the GIB in my old Windows version? Hope this does not sound very silly, but I really need the GIB or I wouldn't have material time to do the job. Thanks in avance, Veronica - allspice
  8. Thank you, bid_em_up. It is a great help. Anyway, whenever I want to see a hand I am logged to BBO, and talking about it. I meant something that didn't force me to go to BBO files in my pc and find out the number of the tournament. Just get it by date in the "movie" button of BBO, and "open" in that window. Also the date appears in my PC month, day and year, and I rather use year, month and date for all files. Easier to find. Regards Allspice
  9. Whenever there is a tournament in progress, it doesn't show how many hands are missing until the end. The ones which admit kibitzers, can be checked by going into a table but the others, there is no way to know. Sometimes I have 20 minutes and I would go in as a sub, only if I can estimate I'll be finished in time. RGDS VGK
  10. Tournaments and hands are saved in # order. It would be much easier to find them if they were saved by date, year first, month after. Can I change that in my PC, or is a BBO issue? Thanks
  11. To mark a player as an enemy has a big inconvenience: If he registers before you do to a tournament, you are not allowed to register. So just the "edit player's notes" is the best option. Of course, you can't access them when you are invited to play or when you are invited to join as a sub.
