  1. :) having met sceptic i would say it proves the case that 'inbreeding' is not a good idea :D
  2. The Big TD goes round with his Whip keeping the players in line  :D
  3. :) lol Nickrw I suspect that the same player would not even bother under old system of using TSS to even bother looking that what North had written was correct; then complain afterwards :D But seriously the system we use here in Blighty seems to work very well North entering and East checking before OK'ing; any errors can and are altered by the little TD with his Key
  4. :) Dburn as a member of our L&E would know better than I as to whether we have had ANY scoring problems with the Bridgemates we use in EBU Land or whether ANY errors have always been down to a combination of 'Input Error/Operator Error or Scoring Programme Error' I cannot see ANY computer/keyboard doing anything other than what it is told to. ;)
  5. ;) Hi I cannot believe the Bridgemastes can be at Fault they work on the GIGO principle; far more likely is the Human error either with the Scoring Software or Scoring input
  6. :) Here In the England North enters the Contract and then + - or = then EAST MUST check before ok 'ing we have had no Major problems that I know of
  7. :P I agree with a campaign for outlawing abbreviations mainly those none Standard; But English could be a problem for those across the 'Pond' :P
  8. :) but seriously roland would you not like to know what partner has opened with? and would not a pass let partner tell you with a re-opening double he/she was strong or merely 2!h to show weak and 5 (or 6) :o
  9. :) In the real Bridge World we employ Tournament Directors to run out Competitions; thus it is only logical that the TD is the one who decides what is a reasonable amount of time to take over a Board (Or are they taking too much time); They are by nature TIMED events like the fact or not; We allow 1 hour for 8 Boards that is generally suffice; We also give a 5 minute warning to the end of the round and even tell them NOT to start any more Boards. Why should a Player GOOD BAD or Indifferent be allowed to hold a whole competition to ransom? :o
  10. :o mm how strange why not just PASS (if you cannot bring yourself to Double) ; If partner has a GOOD hand he/she will re-open it with a DOUBLE (unless you do not play Bridge) WALD Acol is NOT dead when will those who cannot play Bridge realise that FACT :)
  11. B) Interestingly a Colleague of mine TD at an EBU event actually timed a 'Notorious' Slow pair and then confronted them with the Data eventually fining them for the Slow play ;)
  12. :) This is easy for anyone playing the Proper System (ACOL) 1♣ intending to show strength next time Acol is such an Easy game B)
  13. :) someone is working on an ACOL basic; good luck to he/she Acol means many things to many people Weak NT Strong NT Mini NT Strong 2's Weak 2's Just for starters see tony's missive above Now if you want them all to play 'Shintaro' Acol Weak NT Stayman Weak Take outs Strong 2's Mckenny discards Gerber Blackwood then that would be fine should be fun :)
  14. ;) As under the Laws of Bridge (whatever variety) Phsyches are a legitimate ploy; Then there are and should be permitted If however a pair decide to phsyche at each and every occasion then the Laws also cover this. However online I feel for the poor TD when players shout that a phsyche has occured Should the TD LOG them down as EBU do ?? All I stipulate is that players are not allowed to Kick, bite, scraTCH OR POKE THEIR PARTNER IN THE EYES :)
  15. wow what a load of missives about people merely being polite to partners / opponents etc much better than saying well butchered prantner
  16. Lets keep Acol of the Steam or Dinasour variety these Weak 2's should be banished Play the proper Acol as was intended Or Play Asylum whist if you wish instead But please don't call it Acol
  17. mm above posted to wrong thread  oh no its not is it just another page ah well back to the reading room
  18. I am amazed (and slightly amused) that the setting up of 'Free' tourneys can generate this amount of feeling; Does it really matter
  19. ;) now septic buddy why the leading question 'brain' transplant ;) :) sooner rather than later :P
  20. question are you actually playing 'Bridge' if you knowingly will never ever underlead an ace!! ;) ;)
