;) Never mind a Coffee ban: Alledgedly our English Mens Team were worried a few years ago that Drinking BEER was going to be banned in Bridge Rooms  And following on from Frances's observation re one of our young Female players ; before frances and Jeffrey came on the scene we had 2 or 3 'Notable' female players with low cut tops and large clevages

It seems to me that all three of these suggestions are legal rulings. How you rule depends on how culpable you think the players are. The TD is not obliged to apply Law 11, if he thinks the defenders ought to have known better. ;) read law 49 option 3 in the list given by phil is not permitted under LAW 49 :)
-
:D quote LAW 50 D 2 When a defender has the lead while his partner has a major penalty card, he may not lead until declarer has stated which of the options below is selected (if the defender leads prematturely, he is subject to rectification under LAW 49). Declarer may chose ....... unqoute the law continues. how do you get round this part of the LAW ????? :)

Have you read the BBF terms of service
shintaro replied to Trumpace's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
:P out by 20% so far Bridge this accurate i hope  -
 The best concerts I have ever been to are (in order of date) The Seekers Final Concert when I lived in Australia in the 1960's. The only other I have been to was to watch a person perform at his own venue called the Shrine in Lagos Nigeria; that man was Fela Ransome Kuti and his band the Africa 70; superb renown African artist who became a great friend whilst I was living out there :)

shintaro replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
B) If you are going to pre-empt then I say do it 4♥ Let the opps study :) -
B) Interested to know if you have 4405 Good 5 clubs do you still open 2♣ (we don't) But if you could hold a 4 Card Major then we use 2♦ as Stayman Works for us :)

shintaro replied to Fluffy's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
:P In UK i would venture that most play 'Acol' or a variation; Some do play Sick And Yellow Colour Some Precision Some parts of England have their own Strong Club systems Nottinghan Club In Nottinghamshire ;) -
Well it is "just" a theory, like gravity and the atomic theory are "just" theories. But the word "just" is misplaced. ;) helen_t Gravity is just a theory; If so what do you think keeps us all 'Grounded' :P
-
;) One inescapable fact appears to be that Evolution exists; Can the same be said for Religions being correct in what they espouse as being correct :P

Psyching a 2C opening
shintaro replied to qwery_hi's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
 Interesting in EBU land 6 A General 6 A 1 A Psyche or Psychic bid is a deliberate and gross mis-statement of honour strength and/or suit length. A Misbid is an inadvertent mis-statement of honour strength and/or suit length. A Deviation is a deliberate but minor mis-statement of honour strength and/or suit length. 6 A 2 A psychic bid is a legitimate ploy as long as it contains the same element of surprise for the psycher’s partner as it does for the opponents. 6 A 3 Systemic psyching of any kind is not permitted. A partnership may not use any agreement to control a psyche. For example, if you play that a double of 3NT asks partner not to lead the suit you’ve bid (Watson), you may not make such a double if the earlier suit bid was a psyche. 6 A 4 A player may not psyche a Multi 2♦ opening in a Level 3 event (see 11 G 6). A psyche is a deliberate action; if a player misbids this is not illegal. 6 A 5 Frivolous psyching, for example suggesting a player has lost interest in the competition, is a breach of the Laws. (Law 74A2, 74B1, 74C6) 6 A 6 The regulation in the last Orange Book that a player may not psyche a game-forcing or near game-forcing artificial opening bid no longer applies. And just note the current 6 a 6 reproduced above B) -
:) it seems that there will always be those who play Bridge and those who wish to play 'Asylum Bridge' :)

Only bridge players will understand...
shintaro replied to jillybean's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
 draw last trump exit with ♣Q hope that west has missing ♣AK and ♦A, or that if East wins ♣ that he holds ♦ Q -
;) Surely the withdrawal of TD rights is down to those running the site, I assume that if any ban is put in place the Banned person is notified as to Why? Thus they should really take it up with the management not air it in public

What your favorite NT range?
shintaro replied to mtvesuvius's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
:P 12 - 14 Cos I play proper bridge (ACOL) and prefer the pre-emptive value of the bid; Perhaps those who play Strong NT only do so cos they cannot play No Trump contracts; Ducking down behind couch and putting on Tin Hat and Tin Knickers ready for the backlash :)   -

Skill level description
shintaro replied to jw_rob2's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
:( Much prefer Black Leather Basque (or Blood Red) and Leather Whip with nine Tails :( -
:) ... It happens to be so nice that I'm in the committee that makes these rules. So if I don't like them, I'll just have them changed. :D Therefore my question is purely political, how should the rules be? I was not part of the actual incident. :) However you or I feel about the rules we have to have them the Game just would not run efficientely without them :)
-
:) How do you check if the scores at the other tables are entered correctly? Obviously YOU dont nor for that matter can the TD's (assuming the score entered is possible) but that still does not alter the Conditions of Contest If players do not enter the correct score and using Bridgemates confirm that what has been entered is indeed correct; then the only way round it is to start draconian measures for INCORRECT inputting/checking of scores; but that will not solve the problem of someone who only notices that THEY entered or agreed an Incorrect score when they look on the Internet 2 or 3 days later; how would you know at all if they were not posted on the internet; perhaps one answer is to NOT post frequencies on the Internet then no-one would know That is life The 30minutes Joanne I assume is ACBL contests but I do not know We have similar time limits here in UK :)
-
;) My point is that you Abide by the rules of contest Thus if you do not wait and check then you have nothing to cry about if the scores are wrong There are logical exceptions one of which you state <_<
