  1. How do you use to play after opponents redouble?...Do you have any agreement? (1X)-dbl-(Rdbl)- ? 1. pass is for playing this contract?...does it depending if x= minor or major?...what is the meaning of 1Y bidding?...2/3Y-jump bidding?...2NT?...the cuebid? 2. will be a different scheme for their (2X) oppening?
  2. sry Jan, I don't understand why can't play 2NT as "let's play your minor, don't like your major" and 3m= as natural, my own suit, tried to fit the major...how could you bid with : xx, Axxx, -, KJ109876 when you heard that pd has 4 cards in spade? how good could be to play 2NT as natural vs. their 1NT oppening in these days when every 2NT seems to be something else then "natural" ?
  3. I played this convention 5 years ago...sometimes very good results, sometimes disasters...now I have 2 good friends of mine who play Obvious Shift...my oppinion is that only a very old relationship should play this convention and after loooong discutions only...the worst thing regarding of this convention is that sometimes you should choice the smalest disaster from a hand which doesn't know anything...sometimes you lead and partner make an signal...you'll never know if that one is an agressive one or just a refusing for an alternative...sometimes you have Qxx and pd requires to play in this suit (the dummy has xxxx) and you'll play there and you'll make free way for the declarer...he doesn't need to find the position...you'll never know if the pd want's to play obviously there or doesn't like to continue the leadind suit...and finally I don't agree that a covention could generate disaster...I accept to not find everytime the perfect defence way, but I really hate to play a convention which sometimes could make me the only one player who will deliver a slam...and the players who use to play OS could confirm it
  4. ok, I'll come from Romania to play with you...you have to pay everything:)
  5. any nice developing ideeas about 1♥-1♠-2♥ ?
  6. sry, didn't intend it...just try to find some agreements about it
  7. I don't know which was the origine, for me is important to use this convention how much is possible...for 2-nd egg. the cue bid means 17-20 balanced or semibalanced with 4 cards support...If everybody wants to use it in his own understanding then it is ok, but I'm talking here about the well known "support double"...the real meanings is "3 cards support or any other strong hand without any other natural bidding" I could give you other recent hand: ♠xx♥AKxxx♦AKJx,♣Ax the bidding was: 1♥-(p)-1♠-(2♣)-? your choice?
  8. I am trying to find a complete "support double" convention...I am sure that 99% of players use to play with support double but I don't know how many of them disscused with their partners the continuations. Let's suppose our hand: ♠KJx, ♥Axxxx, ♦Kx, ♣xxx and the bidding was: 1♣-(p)-1♥-(2♦)-DBL-(p)-? Do not forget that the partner could have one from these 2 hands: 1. ♠Axx, ♥Qxx, ♦xx, ♣AKxxx 2. ♠AQx, ♥Qx,♦xxx, ♣ AKQJx you could easy find more egg. with strong hands without ♦ stop, without 3 cards support in your major and withour other natural biddings maybe someone could recommend me some "support double" links or ideeas
  9. I'll start the discussion with next hand: ♠Vxxx ♥Ax ♦xxx ♣xxxx LHO opened with 1♦, your pd overcalls with 1♥, LHO bid natural 2♦, you PASS (I suppose), LHO bid 3♦ and your partner DOUBLE what is your bidding?...why?...would be influenced by vulnerability?...could pd have ♠AKxx,♥Kxxxxx,♦x,♣Ax?...but ♠Axx,♥KVxxxx,♦x,♣AKx? I'm asking about your style because we meet a lot of these kinds of situation: 1) (1♦)-1♠-(2♦)-P-(P)-DBL-(P)-? 2)(1♦)-1♥-(2♦)-P-(P)-DBL-(P)-?
  10. nice convention...I already heard about it...but does it works if the agreed suit is ♣ or ♦? let's suppose we have ♦ fit...4NT-5♠ (2KC w ♦Q)-5NT=kings asking...how do you answer?
  11. I try to find a good way to ask about kings...how do you use to play?
  12. ok, let's come back to the board...partner hand was: ♠xxx ♥- ♦AKx ♣Kxxxxxx result= +250 instead of +1440 as you can see 12 tricks in no trump...was a big "fight" between the commentators...a part of them agreed with this pas and doesn't like the partner's PASS, with the♣ suit...they argued the balanced pass with no a good suit for 3NT...maybe pd is 5440 with a very wak hand ...the others agreed no overcalling with a bad suit (K in 7 in a minor, only) and were unsatisfied about no balance with this strong hand my idea (also I like was the same with my pd's ideea): if they are vulnerable is easy to PASS...if not we'll bid 3NT...it is life, sometimes we hould pay the preempts...but I like to fall from Niagara...:)
  13. I was watching yesterday to the BBO vugraph Norway Pairs final and one bords was something awfully: your are in 4-th position vulnerable vs nonvulnerable (of course) and you have: ♠AK ♥AJ10xxx ♦Jxx ♣AQ and the bidding goes: (3♥)-p-(p)-? would you balance?...how?...it depends on vulnerability?...it depends on the tourney format?
  14. Also, maybe I really think in a deferently way, why the pas doesn't means something?...if the opener who doubled with 4441 will try to escape yourself?...he already informed the partner about a kind of shape and about a strong hand...why would be impossible to play 3♣ redoubled?...in my oppinion the PASS in 3♣redouble means that I would like to play it...if not, I HAVE TO bid something
  15. he will defenitevely raise ??????????????????????????...it is a joke, I suppose
  16. a faster 4♠...not only because I know the board ;) ...but my partner call me to play at 3-rd level...sometimes I could have xxx, xxx, xxx, xxxx and then I would bid 3♦ or xxxx, xxx,xx,xxxx and then I would bid 3♠...now I have 5 suit cards and another 4 good ♦ cards for us
  17. maybe yes, maybe not...but sure, now, after the bidding goes in this way I heard more informations so, in my oppinion 2♦ means 3 things: 1) both majors with not a minimal hand...in order to play 2M 2) strong hand witha major, 18+ 3) strong hand with ♣ suit, stronger then 3♣ bidding 4M= just a good hand and a good shape...less then 18 HCP
  18. I'm not so sure that 4♥ means strong hand: ♠xx ♥AKxx ♦x ♣AKxxxx is it for 3♥ only? on the other hand, double could include an invited hand with a bad 4 cards major and good minor support...do not bid 1M over their 1♦ with xxxx and a good support...do not receive a bad lead if you would be in deffence, bla, bla...this is the system, doesn't matter, I was asking about other think...the way to require a 3-rd Major control
  19. is wellknown about grand slam try, asking about 3-rd round control, after an agreed major: 1M-2M-4NT-5x-6m I would like to ask about this kind of grand slam try about an agreed minor and I'll give you my example where I didn't know to control this kind of grand slam. My S hand was: ♠KQ ♥AKxx ♦x ♣AQJxxx and the biding was: S W N E 1♣ - 1♦ - Dbl* - p 2♦ - 3♦ - 4♣ - p 4NT - p - 5♦**- p ?? we will not commets too much about the bidding untill this moment, let's try to solve the problem starting now Dbl= could be invited only with ♣ support with or without 4 cards in a M in a balanced or semibalanced hand (sure 1♣-(1♦)-2♦= would denies 4 cards in a M) 5♦= 03KC sure, is very easy to bid 7♣, 7NT or something else, I just want to ask a constructive way to find a 3-rd round control in ♥...am I very sure I would bid 5NT partner would not bid 7♣ with next hand? ♠Axx ♥xxxx ♦A ♣Kxxxx or ♠Ax ♥xxx ♦Axx ♣Kxxxx for me is very important 3 things: - to find xx in ♥ - to find the Q in ♥ - to find AJxx in ♠ how can I inform him about it?
  20. I use after 1♦-(2♣) or after 1♦-(3♣) with transfers. I'll loose 2/3♦ natural but I'll winn many other things So: 1♦-(3♣)-3♦= at least competitive with ♥ (part will bid 3♥ with a min hand, will bid 4♥ with an ordinary hand, will make a cuebid with a strong one) also:1♦-(3♣)-3♥= for ♠ 1♦-(3♣)-3♠ = GF with ♦ or GF bal 3334 without ♣ stop JUST AN IDEEA
  21. 4NT...I have the bigest hand of the world and my pd made a forcing pas (even was not forcing pas I'll bid the same)...I don't understand why someone would bid 5H and not 4NT...4NT means the same but with a very good hand and a lot of controls in any suit
  22. I used to play a lot of discarding signals...I didn't discover yet a good enough one ...now I'm playing with any small as encouraging...I played also italian discards (odd/even) it is a good way when you have cards enough only...pls try everybody to say which discarding system uses to play and why consider that it is better then the others...thank in advance
