1D-2C 2H-2S (natural) 3S-4C (cue) 4H-4S-P

What's the plan on defence? If you are ducking this, your agreement in this situation is that your card would be standard count.

The auction seems very strange, assuming there is a pass missing (you normally would not go into blackwood when you have limited your hand and partner hasn't). Hands like this is why normal blackwood is all but extinct among competitive players as the people playing RKC in the same auction up to 4NT would find out partner has ♠KQ and will have the chance to show the ♦K if they had it. There is nothing wrong with bidding 7NT missing 2 kings, as long as you have the tricks to justify it. By the way, the king of diamonds is missing in the deck, and there are two ♦4s

Teams Game, suggested feature
manudude03 replied to Stefan_O's topic in Suggestions for the Software
That functionality is there. When you click Create Team Match, there is a tab at the top for Reserve Seats. The randoms will only be able to join the seats which are not reserved. -
Without seeing the hand records, it's hard to say, but I'd be surprised if that was the actual auction.
-
As the cards lie, the spade finesse isn't needed (West can be squeezed in the black suits). I can hardly be critical of the line though. As for the bidding, there's no reason not to check for the club king if you have the means to do so.

A Bizarre Auction and Result. What went wrong?
manudude03 replied to FelicityR's topic in Expert-Class Bridge
Other than vugraph, no, but I was in the Northern Ireland team (sitting out that set) and that was what was explained to East. I agree there is a chance the auction had gone off the rails before that though. -
Then North runs. 2D doesn't promise a second suit.

A Bizarre Auction and Result. What went wrong?
manudude03 replied to FelicityR's topic in Expert-Class Bridge
I don't know what the rest of the auction meant after 3H, but 7D was meant as choose between 7H and 7NT, only because it was clubs that had been doubled and not diamonds, it got misconstrued. -
I know. The point is that bridge online is almost always faster than 6.5 minutes per board. I don't have any hard data, but tonight, I was getting practice with my partner and taking it very seriously, and we did 36 ish boards in 3 hours, something which would never happen in real life.
-
Define uncommonly slow. Most bridge clubs run at about 7 minutes per board. Sorting cards usually takes no more than 30 seconds of that. Do you complain that that's too slow? I'm sure most people in the forums have stories of taking a really long time to play a card. My personal record is about 10 minutes (on vugraph!). I remember watching someone on vugraph thinking for 25 minutes in the middle of the play. Sucks for the others, I know, but sometimes you just need the time to think. Edit: and as an aside, people complaining at the table that it's slow is more often than not making the problem worse.
-
That would be because the gib plays 0314, not 1430.

The auction starts (3H)-P-(3S), 3S is natural and forcing, how do you play double here? I realise options 2 and 4 seem kinda similar, but option 4 is meant as more as sussing out a psyche while option 2 has honest expectations of possibly playing it there. Edit: Must have been too late for me, posted it at 1:55am, but meant takeout as takeout of both (i.e both minors)

Serious or non-serious 3NT should solve most issues where the responder is only invitational (define serious as being a full GF opposite extras), the only issue may be after the start 1M-2NT-3NT in which case you could try inverting the meanings of 4♣ and 4M (i.e 4♣ is invitation, 4M=♣cue). True it only gives the opener 1 or 2 extra bids, but it's better than nothing.

This hand is in Bridge Master (World Class A-20), with the pips changed. The recommended line was CY's layout with the ♣J in the other hand.

You then cash 4 spades breaking 1-4 (RHO having 4) and 2 more hearts breaking 6-1. LHO has thrown 2 hearts and a diamond while RHO threw 2 diamonds. How do you play the clubs?

The 5 level Who owns it?
manudude03 replied to PhilG007's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Maybe some of the high-level cheats know what to do without looking at their hand, the rest of us mere mortals don't. edit: Incidentally this reminds me of when I played my first ever congress. I was a beginner at the time and being tired, an opp said nice hand. It didn't occur to me she meant the cards I held! -
Most hopeless / clueless comment?
manudude03 replied to flametree's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Had to revive this as I got a priceless comment playing tonight. I had KJxx AJTxx Ax Kx and heard a 1D opener on the right. Regardless of where you stand on the 1H vs double issue, I chose to double. The auction ended up going P-P-1D-X-P-1S-2D-2S-AP. I wished I could bid 2.5 spades, but settled for two. This ended up making 10 tricks. The hopeless comment? Partner after the hand said "You should overcall 1NT, give me a chance to show my suit". -
It would help if you were to provide actual numbers. What I will say though it that people in real life are terrible at shuffling and so computer dealt hands will often appear to be more distributional than normal.
-
1NT is correct, GIB plays constructive raises and is planning on rebidding 2S to show either a 2 card raise or a very poor 3 card raise.
-
From the home page of the site, click HAND RECORDS at the top. It will ask you to log in, so do so. From there, you can search for hands played by anybody. Just note however that BBO only keep hand records for about 3 months.

4♣ would be pre-emptive, south plays the 3 on the first spade (standard count).
