    WTP?

I think passing is pretty sick at imps. Sacrificing with no remote shot at making at IMPs is a terrible strategy. I would bid 5S. At mp i understand that partner can take a pretty wild stab at a sacrifice but still way too strong to pass.
  2. You have bid and led spade. Declarer run a suit... If you discard a spade (low or high) is it attitude for spade or suit preference for the unbid suit based on the assumption that if youre spades are good you wouldnt discard them ? My style is to always play attitude unless it is clearcut that suit preference is better.
  3. I play the following: -X shows a strong balanced hand (NT overcall type) -2NT shows a good 3 level overcall (16+) -an overcall shows 11-15 So I have an easy 3c and partner won t expect too much from me. Also when i X 2h partner will know that i have a balanced hand and will pass when it s right.
  4. 1♦-X-pass-1NT- pass-pass-X What do you except the doubler to have? Some points with clubs and X should be penalty oriented or a shapely hand and X should be take out?
  5. In my system: 1♠-1NT 2♠-pass 1♠ is 5+♠ 12-14 or 18-22 unbalanced 1NT is a relay 2♠ is 12-14 with 5♠ and 4♣ Over 2♠ North knows about the double fit but with most of his values in the red suit shoud pass when he knows his p his limited to 14 pts. (and with a nice 14 south would open a strong♣)
  6. South knows that when he doubles North will be sitting most of the time with 4 spade and will at least consider passing. My question is then why south should X with no defensive values and no sure tricks? IMO if he doesn t want to play in 2SX he should find another bid. What can go wrong if he bids 2NT? Partner sitting with the S stopper should realise this can t be naturel and will bid on (even if he passes it won t be a disaster!) So even if North pass is a bit optimistic at IMP, i will blame south for putting his partner on the hot seat.
  7. Heart lead to the king and heart back...now the heart are set up and you still have to loose 3 aces and the jack of spade
  8. Everebody agrees but this lead to play an hopeless 3NT on 23hcp... -In balancing lawrence says that 1NT shows 9 to a bad 12...so i think that the hand with 5 spades and 12 hcp is a clear pass over 1NT...24hcp max with no insurance of a fit. -On an other hand the 1spade bid is limited to 14pts so why should you take a bid with 9-10pts when you know there is no game. My partner thought that the 1NT should show 11-12+ and therefore invite to game and if we follow his thought the hand with qx in spade and 11 soft pts is a clear pass of 2NT.
  9. 1♥-pass-pass-1♠ pass-1NT 1-What s the range for the 1NT bid? 2-KTxxx Ax QTx QJT Having balanced with 1♠ what s your bid over 1NT? 3-partner raise your 1NT to 2NT what s your bid with Qx Q9xx KJx Kxxx
