  1. Okay so last night at the club this situation happened: Partner is playing a contract say...♦ is already going down but all of this is I think inconsequential. She has all trump in her hand but 1 bad ♣. Dummy has 2♦ left and no ♣. LHO has one low trump. My partner drops 2 top trumps and the club and says pulling trump and ruffing a club. Director gets to table and rules that since she dropped 2 trumps she was going to pull 2 rounds of trump and would have in this case left no trump in dummy so she could not ruff. I thought this was unfair as is not logical even if there were 2 trumps out which there were not. What is the proper ruling?
  2. Partner's hand was this: (hidden) This is more why I thought the hand was difficult. I am fairly certain my partner should have done a little bit more after my 3nt. Or for that matter bid something much different than 3♠. What I am not sure though. So lets pretend it is a perfect world and you play both hands what do you do with each?
  3. [hv=s=saj3ha97daj9caj64]133|100|[/hv] Dealer opens 3♥ to you? Assuming you double it goes pass 3♠ pass-? 1) Do you double? 2) What do you do on ? 3) is there any systems or anything that most people play for this? 4) Assuming you get to open what do you open? Enjoy

  5. Bidding seems to be an issue here. 13 points are unaccounted for and nobody seems to own them. What do you lead from a douleton? If high then seems like singleton is only possiblity. If low then it is more ambigous. The 2 return doesn't seem bad though I think I would probably return the 7 so partner knows that I have the A♦.
  6. 3♦ seems just enough to give them trouble while still not letting them collect a good penalty score.
  7. 1) 3 of both. 2) Depends on partner. Vulnerable prempt at the 3 level some like to have a very nice hand others require less. With a pickup I would probably pass. I think that 3nt is crazy. Even if I don't get a ♥ lead off the bat (going through p who has the only hope of a "stopper") I am not sure I am going to be able to get 9 tricks before they get a second chance. 3) I play up with the A♦ but rather than try and finesse the ♥ I am going to play A then J, I am more worried about East getting in after I lose the finesse then playing is king♦ getting a ruff. I plan to lose 1♥ 1♦ 1♠.
  8. 1) Pass. I think 5♠ is going down pretty hard and I think they have very little room to make and educated decision on 5 or 6♣. Secondly, I think that action here is likely to give declarer a roadmap to the contract. Partner probably has a dog and if you bid declarer will know it and play you for everything perhaps making a previously unmakable 6♣. Double wouldn't be bad except for the above point and that I think it might suggest a longer ♥ holding. Even if it does just show points what hands could partner possibly have that he would want to get in at the 5 level with that he didn't do anything prior? I can't think of too many. 2) 5♣ seems fine. 3) 4♣
  9. The reason I asked was I played with 2 very good players and both gave opposite advice (when the bad result came) on very similar hands. FYI: I do not know if this is a flaw in jdonn's flaw (much more likely) or I should take it as a compliment but I passed the above hand.
  10. 5♣ kindof seems like a copout indicating that both of his previous calls were just being competitive rather than actually having 2 beautiful support suits.
  11. [hv=s=s97532hq75dt98ca8]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] This may be a question primarily of style but after a 1NT - PASS- ???. When do you transfer and when do you leave them. Playing % obv. Please also give examples of where you draw the line (assuming there is one :( ) edited for 13 cards which is always good edited round 2 for 13 cards it is early I can't count
  12. what is stopping them from leading spades through your JXXX? not only that seems like if you decide to lead a ♥ and the A takes (offside or on no matter) they can still take AKQ of ♠ even if they don't figure out to lead through your J which would give them 4 tricks rather than the 3 it looks like they get if we take them off the top
  13. Generally the suggestion is to have 8-13 hcp which this hand obviously does not meet. In addition 2 of the 6 points you do have (Q♣) are virtually wasted. While you do have a 6 card ♥ suit I do not think this can outway the other negatives of this hand.
  14. Great tournament. Get to play with some top notch players. Resig's hand review afterwards is always informative.
  15. [hv=d=n&v=n&w=skq6h2dakjt65cj72&e=sat74ha43d93cq964]266|100|Scoring: IMP Bidding(opponents always pass): P-1♦-1♠-3♠-4♠[/hv] I realize that my partner bid it wrong. I still have to play the hand though so how do you play it (I am east)? Lead is ♥J. Average pickup game with average opponents. (First post BTW)
