  1. I can't either, though I admit, due to company, I'm only 50/50 to be able to make it tomorrow.
  2. I'm guessing part 2 is the diamond overcall?
  3. This. Of course, a ton of players seem to play 2NT as 10-11 invitational. Hopefully you know which one partner plays. If not, maybe 3NT is safest. I have to admit, as loathe as I am to adopt conventions, I've pretty much decided I can't live without inverted minors. Vuroth (Intermediate)
  4. Didn't notice the spade spots were really THAT good. nice.
  5. matmat, you're just miffed that there's no slot to rate your kibitzing skills. :)
  6. Righty would be ruffing a loser. Unless righty overtakes and returns, and lefty was single. It seems to me there's always at least a small added risk in ducking the first club. Not saying it's not worthwhile, necessarily. V
  7. 1NT 2♠* P 3♣ P 3♦ 3♥ 4♦ 4♥ P P ? *Cappelletti Is this a forcing pass situation? First of all, I should never have bid 4D. This hand was a disaster, and the disaster was totally my fault. That said, we just pushed opps into a game they weren't bidding themselves - I have to double or bid 5♦, don't I? V
  8. It's related to BBO points. Looking for a link... Link.
  9. Wow, I'd be awfully nervous about ducking one club, much less 2. It seems to me that ducking 1 club is safest, though of course you may go down if the finesse was on and clubs were 6-1 - certainly not impossible. I guess the reason it's right to do so is that we have to minimize our chances of east getting in and leading a heart. Certainly, if it happens, we're no worse off than we were just taking the finesse, but if we're going to expose ourselves to the added risk of a second round club ruff, there have to be compensations. V
  10. It'd be brilliant if I could lose my third trick to west.
  11. Around here, it seems like a lot of people play it as min/max - i.e <12 or >16.
  12. That's annoying. I'm guessing that the bidding should be 1NT 3D (invitational, decent suit) 3NT (based on diamond holding) and that his is so trivial, that all B/Is should intuitively know this? Thanks for helping. :)
  13. I'd sure love to know what that 5 board tourney was, because I'd sure never play in it in my life.
  14. I think I see. Squeezes aren't my strong point, but we won't be able to squeeze the reds if opponents lead diamonds TWICE. (If they err and return us a black suit, we're still afloat.) Now Trumpace's comment makes sense. Thanks. :) V
  15. So from the above, the percentage play is A♥, low to Q♥, and if that loses, hope hearts are 3-3, or one opponents gets squeezed in ♥/♦?
  16. That went as expected. Was still very fun, though.
  17. As an intermediate: 1. Invitational values. Optionally, garbage stayman may be used. 2. Nope. I'd be happy to transfer with a distributional 0 count, if trump offered better chances to go plus than 1NT.
  18. I can't picture a trump holding partner could have that plays better with east leading than it does when north or south leads. Are we that worried about partner being endplayed in trump?
  19. Try signing up now - the tourney is listed on BBO already. :)
  20. Ace, Ace, spade. I see all our winners going away really fast if we don't take them now. If partner doesn't have K♠ and a natural trump trick, I have no idea how we're going to do this. V
