  1. How did you know 3♠ was a splinter? I'm torn between 3NT and a 4-lvl bid. Anyway, what's partner's point range? What did LHO have for his overcall? I bid 3NT and hope partner continues if neccessary, though that may be wrong (partner my 'respect' my bid and Pass, he doesn't know how strong my hand really is...)
  2. ♠AKQx ♥AK ♦x ♣KJT9xx Red vs White: 1♥ X 2♥ Pa Pa ??? There may be a follow-up.
  3. [hv=n=sxxhtxxxd98xxckxx&w=sakqxh9xdqxcqj9xx&e=sjxhqjdakjtxxxcxx&s=stxxxxhakxxxdcaxx]399|300|[/hv] No way to go down in 4♥, is there? I played 4♦ in E/W, anyway but I thought it was interesting. (Except for ♦ or small ♠ and ♦ lead)
  4. So, playing forcing NT is normal here? I thought it was better to change your agreements and adapt to the 'special' situation.
  5. Playing 2/1 partner opens 1♠ and RHO doubles. Holding: ♠QTx ♥Kxx ♦xx ♣Axxxx What's your bid? How do you consider your hand? You can play one-under, 2NT limit in spades or you could play 'system-on' (1NT forcing, bergen, jacoby, etc). Of course there might be other options but, what is considered standard and what do you think is better?
  6. First hand of the tournament, all white, you open the following 11-count: ♠KT9 ♥AJTxxx ♦Kxx ♣x Pa 1♥ 1♠ Pa Pa ??? What's your bid?
  7. 4♦ is two places to play? So I guess over 4♠ we-d bid 5♣ then.
  8. You get this hand: ♠AKQx ♥9x ♦Qx ♣QJ9xx It goes: Pa Pa 1♠ 2♣ Pa 2♦ 2♥ 3♥ Pa 4♦ Pa Pa 4♥ Pa Pa Pa What's your lead? (What do you play 3♥ to mean? Would you have bid 3♠ in your methods?)
  9. ♠Qxx ♥KJxx ♦KJ ♣8xxx Red vs White: Pa Pa 1♠ Pa 1NT* Pa 2♦ X Pa ??? What is the meaning of the double? What do you bid?
  10. ♠AKxx ♥Jxx ♦Kxx ♣AKx All white: Pa Pa Pa 1♣ Pa 1♠ Pa ???
  11. Partner deals and passes, you open 1♠ on: ♠AKQ9xx ♥Qx ♦Jx ♣KTx Partner bids 2♦ (natural), you bid 3♠ and partner bids 3NT. You?
  12. This is the kind of thing I really didn't have to read. The problem with the internet: What has been seen cannot be unseen. What has been learned cannot be unlearned.
  13. I'm with jdonn. Usually after checkback responder goes back to NT to show a balanced or semi-balanced hand (5422) willing to play NT in case opener so prefers (this is great specially at Mp's). When responder is 4-4 in the majors it is better to bid it over the NT (1x-1♥-1NT-2♠) although I could understand a different agreement (though it wouldn't sound normal to me, so I'd like to be alerted).
  14. Pass and lead the smallest of my clubs.
  15. As it was pointed out (I think) you don't have to explain your psych. Of course as it was also pointed out you have to follow the rules of specific tournaments (not only online) that prohibit psyching. The 100 lashes go to you (and will probably be enough fi you don't do it again) if your partner's speed or any other symptom made you realize the psych and you acted upon that fact. If it was the speed of the double no lashes at all, but it's hard to demonstrate that it was so... However, in your defense, partner put you in a difficult situation, you might as well have gotten out of that table and checked what a substitute might have done over the same auction...
  16. You hold: ♠ATxxx ♥Qxx ♦ATxx ♣x Bidding goes: 1♦ 1♠ 2♠* Pa 3♣ Pa 5♣ Pa Pa Pa As I was on lead I asked opener (who had alerted 2♠ happily as something pretty interesting) and was told that 2♠ meant Hearts and a good hand. This was the final (screens were in use) of a teams' event called mockingly 'morons and masters', where players well positioned in the National ranking have to play with lesser ranked people in teams. What would you lead? hint:
  17. I double again and I agree with the bidding so far.
  18. 1NT was forcing, 3♣ could be 4th (though most people where you're playing use it to show a 5-5). No lead can beat this slam. One makes it harder to make.
  19. Bidding goes: 1♥ 1NT 3♣ 6♣ They're red, you're white, what's your lead? ♠K863 ♥9854 ♦83 ♣KT6
  20. ♠Kxx ♥KQx ♦Jx ♣AQxxx Partner bid 4♦ and I bid 4♥. We arrived at 5♦, heart lead taken by dummy's king, what now? [hv=n=skxxhkqxdjxcaqxxx&s=sxhaxxdaq8xxxckjx]133|200|[/hv]
  21. Most probably nothing wrong with the contract, although if the issue is pushed too much I'd say South could double again.
