  1. This hand is an easy reverse and while I don't favor upgrading as much as some players, it really is too strong to just open a 15-17 NT.
  2. If 3♠ gets doubled after you pass now, then what do you do?
  3. Nice thread here and like others have said, your hand is now too good to just bid 4♥. Better to keep the bidding open with another call. I'd bid 3♠ revealing the double fit and then PD should move us towards slam. I'd expect to stop in 6 opposite a bot or typical pd without expert level tools.
  4. I voted Not Good, but passing is almost bad enough for me to have voted Insane. 2 QT in this 11 count and a stiff and a 6 card suit with no rebid issues. 1♣ on days that end in y.
  5. I would run, not walk, but RUN to another partner. That play of the ♥7 rather than 9 or 10 is awful.
  6. 1♠-1NT-4♠ or on a cautious day I just rebid 3 which off course gets raised to 4.
  7. Yes please slow them down a bit while having them calculate/simulate for a bit longer so they play at least a tad better.
  8. Always these improper high level jumps! Why can't GIBiot just bid 4♣ rather than 5? Or as I prefer 2♣ the first time and later support ♦?
  9. Thx mikeh, good points! I am able to go over hands I play with GIB and apply common sense as to how to follow its DD analysis and to try to determine if and how I should've taken more tricks and I am usually capable of working out unusual positions once it leaves me wondering why I didn't take an extra trick. Once again, to possum. TBH I have serious doubts that you are legit, but if so, work on your declarer play!
  10. As mikeh said, you can just claim earlier. I am not sure why you are playing out your last trumps when all you have is winners and can claim. Just discard the J♦ on trick 10 and you have nothing but top ♥ in both hands so no chance to create the blocking disaster you did. There are so many good books on declarer play. Some have been rec'd to you in these threads along with a program or two. You seem to love GIB. You can use it to help your declarer play as it gives you DD analysis after every card. Of course it knows hows to pick up Jacks and Queen and even drop that stiff King offside, but you can realize when that is just a guess, and use it for checking for and hopefully curing some of the declarer play blunders you've shown in most of the threads you've started. Improve your declarer play and you'll find your enjoyment of this game increasing as well as your results. You'll also find more people wanting to play with you and you'll take less abuse as well.
  11. On that 2nd auction I find it unbelievable that the GIBiot in the East seat can't at least kick 4♦ up to 5. No wonder I have less than zero interest playing with them.
  12. This is some of the worst GIB bidding I've ever heard of.
  13. Do people really think that at unfavorable vul, the opps will sac in 7♠x after jamming your auction and making you guess?
  14. From reading your posts, my advice is straight forward for now. Work on your declarer play a lot! There are so many fine books and also programs to help. .. neilkaz ..
  15. Could that "or what" be prior knowledge of the hand?
  16. If the XX was suggesting a good hand with penalty interest, 3♣ from PD could be on very little and he's just trying to rescue to his best suit. I'd ask what XX means and then I think 3♠ is probably enough to get PD excited if he has anything.
  17. I think I last played 4 card majors before man walked on the moon, so I'm not the authority here  But with 3 small trump and a flattish hand, I somewhat prefer 1NT.
  18. "They were an advanced and expert pair who missed the 4S bid via a 3D jump shift which is one of the bids I was considering." This is likely due to a mix up concerning Bergen or Reverse Bergen raises. I assume you're referring to making a strong jump shift to 3♦. These should be reserved for hands with at least some slam interest..ie a much better hand. As most others point out, you have an automatic 4♠ bid and at any form of scoring. A 9 card fit is very nice, and you shouldn't have major worries about trump suit quality, when you have 9 of them and are only contracted for 10 tricks. 3 aces is an upgrade for a suit contract for sure.
  19. I recommend studying declarer play every day as you know it is a major weakness. As Steven points out, it is easy to take 13 tricks after the trump lead. Your line of play was not optimal, but you still had a chance to rescue things. You must pay attention to long suits. You have an 8 card fit in ♦ and once they split 2-2 you should know that you can ruff out their final ♦ and have 3 winners in dummy. Your line did this, but then you missed it. The Q ♦ fell on trick 8 so now your J is high and you already saw east show out. Therefore, you play the good J and pitch a ♣ and it will be very clear to pitch 2 more ♣ on the remaining ♦.
  20. North likely felt that his hand was a minimum for 3♥, but now after hearing the bidding it has improved since PD should have the A♣ and also likely just 1 ♠. Rather than attempting to s/off with 4♥, better to give PD some encouragement with 4♦.
