  1. South and North need to be checked for heartbeats. As South open 1C, and as North overcall 2D.
  2. With all due respect, you two bid the hand fine. You'd be better served, by not worrying about missing a game that should be set unless the terrible player to your left makes a horrible lead. What if you or PD had taken the push to game, and South actually knew how to play bridge and you were off 1? Would we be seeing an ATB problem for overbidding?
  3. About 30 years ago this hand meant that my team won the U100 teams at the San Diego NABC. The unopposed auction by my vul opps went 1NT(15-17)-2♣-2♥-3♥(invite as they said when I asked)-4♥. So holding only 4 HCP which was A♥ and all 5 missing trump I doubled since PD likely has 10+ HCP and declarer whom I knew wasn't a super star. They went -800. They should run to 4NTx but that would likely be -500 and that don't know that.
  4. Gag that a ♦ lead could take you -1 when 12 tricks are cold in a Black suit. It is MP and trying for a slam is likely anti-percentage and leaks to much info. Just transfer and bid 3NT and be done.
  5. Best common sense post I've seen all year!
  6. You have the most routine normal pass ever for your 2nd call. X is looking for the well deserved ZERO you got.
  7. Now I'll bid 4♥ which should show a really long suit. I don't mind the 4♣ Approach but we do have 2 more ♥ than ♣.
  8. If there's a way to make this a diagram I don't know how. Anyhow, GIB's 3♠ bid goes along with it's explanation but why bid it with this garbage and then why jump to 5♦? Most of us use 3S to ask for a stopper for 3NT. What is with this crazy bidding? GIB had replaced my PD during this hand, of course. https://tinyurl.com/yxkjlxcd
  9. East should be shot for not pulling this to his very good 7 card suit.
  10. Send the paramedics to check your PD for a pulse for not balancing with X.
  11. Up the list of the worst was in MBC a couple years ago when the bidding went 1NT (15-17) on my right, I doubled for penalty (SAYC agreed) and my PD pulled my X to 2NT intending natural and to play and inviting 3NT. I didn't think this player could bid 2NT as something conventional so I passed and wished him GL. Even though he should make as he basically should know where almost every high card is, he managed to go down. Clever of him to pull a contract of 7 tricks at NT to one needing 8 tricks.
  12. It's a really good idea to keep your hands off the bidding box while thinking!
  13. Regardless of what bridge has or will become I prefer a 4♠ bid with this aceless hand with 2 small H (not good) the first time and think it pathetic to not bid 4♠ the second time.
  14. 3♦ for me, as when the opps have bid 2 suits, you cue bid the one you stop when interested in 3NT.
