What happens if, before you leave the table, you change your status to "be right back" using the Accounts tab?

Please cut "CHAT->CLUB" when playing
johnjo42 replied to 661_Pete's topic in Suggestions for the Software
The problem seems to be caused by the chat window remembering the last person you chatted to. In the (in my view) better Windows software the chat default was always to the table and if you wanted to chat to someone else, opponents, club, kibs etc, you had to select that choice. So if you post a request for opponents to the club, the program will continue to chat to the club unless you change it manually. -
Since I've been forced to stop using the (much better in my view) Windows platform I have also noticed that the trump suit is on dummy's left instead of the right in violation of Law 41. I'm surprised that given how long ago this was pointed out it hasn't been fixed

What is confusing is that there are now two Acol Clubs. One on the new server under "casual" and the original one on the old server which is only accessible to people like me using the old Windows software (which I very much prefer). So instead of there being over 150 tables in the club there were only 30 or so in the "old" club and over 100 in the "new" club.

We tried this tonight. Because of the problems in setting up team matches after 7.00 p.m. (UK time) we set up a 25 board team match with the aim of the pairs swapping after 12 boards and everyone passing out Board13. Unfortunately we couldn't leave the table as BBO apparently won't let you leave a seat or even log out. When we forced quit and logged back in again we were immediately taken back to the original table. The team director wasn't able to "unreserve" seats. So we ended up playing all 24 boards as we were. Any suggestions or help please?

I am having the same problem. To make matters worse the results aren't there over an hour later. This is happening in casual play, too.
-
Thank you all. The consensus seems to be that I was right to alert and will continue to do so.
-
Good point about bids above 3NT not being alertable. I'd overlooked that, thank you
-
Having played on BBO for many years I always self alert what might be an unusual conventional bid as I make it using the "alert" button. I was recently criticised very strongly by an opponent who said that I was giving away information to the table, including, presumably to my partner. I explained that only opponents could see the alert but she insisted that I should only alert when asked. Is this right? The alert she objected to was in a RKCB sequence where I responded 6C in the sequence 1S - 4S - 4NT - 6C where 6C shows 1 or 3 keycards and a void in clubs.

Mobile app 5.0.9 feedback thread

It is equally bad on my IPad. It is extremely slow, the sound effects are out of synch and it is no longer easy to use. You can't even log out. Please go back to the previous version of the app. -
What on earth have you done to the IPad app? Since the last update it has changed completely especially playing with robots anonymously. Until recently I could play anonymously within the app without logging in. Now, tapping play anonymously opens a tab in Safari. It's incredibly slow, the sound effects are out of synch and it seems to consume a lot of power. There also isn't any facility to log out. It is AWFUL. Can we please go back to the old app.

Thank you BBO for listening re landscape. -
The moral of this is that Defenders ought not to claim unless they know that they can win the rest of the tricks themselves and are claiming the lot

"New user?" Err, I joined BBO in 2006 -
I can’t see how you wil ever stop the most blatant cheating such as talking to partner on phone but I do wonder what the point of these people is. What exactly do they hope to gain. (Not talking about money bridge or Robot tourneys).

I tried to give a “positive vote” to an earlier post on this thread but got a error message that I can’t because I’ve already used up my quota of positive votes for the day. I haven’t done any today or for the past few days so how can I have used them all up. Is this another bug in the new app. -

The inability to use the new app in landscape mode is very serious. I can no longer use my stand. I don’t understand why companies keep updating apps and programs when they work perf3ctly. There was nothing wrong with the old app so why change it, especially without testing it first. -

I was late in learning about the closure of the Windows version and fired a few complaints which some in here called a "knee-jerk" reaction. I accept that criticism but having tried the web version several times, I'm sorry but I don't like it. It doesn't have the flexibility of the Windows version and today I've discovered that you can't set a partnership bidding table where you can "fix" the hands. For example my partner and I often practice slam bidding by ensuring that both hands have at least 15 HCP. I can't see how you can do this in the Web version. -

They are not "asking us". They are forcing us to switch or forget BBO completely -

Also there is no way to see who is kibbing at your table. Perhaps BBO will provide an easy comparison "How do I do this" guide between the two versions that we can print off. -

I am APPALLED at the decision to close the Windows version. I used the Web version for the first time today and discovered: 1. There is no way to delete the chat screen quickly (if at all). F6 key in Windows 2. Results are confusing. You have to click on a separate screen and then go to other tables to compare instead of a separate window and a straight forward traveller opening. 3. Sounds are limited to one. A single drum. With Windows version there are several options. I'm sure there are many more. This smacks of Microsoft's bullying everyone to change to Windows 10 whether they liked it or not. I refused and am happy with Windows 7 just as I am VERY happy with BBO Windows version. PLEASE think again. JJ -

I have a real problem when trying to chat to someone who is at a table. My "keyboard" disappears and I can't get it back without logging out (This is on IPAD ap) -
Today when I try to play anonymously, I get to a table but there are no robots and no cards so the whole thing stops. I have tried logging in and out again and even reinstalling the app but no change. I have used this app very many times but this is the first time this problem has arisen

Thanks Jack. That is good advice. Let all the teething troubles get sorted
