  1. To Ds? A one under transfer?? :o LOL, nope. 1♥ shows ♠'s. And I can bail out in 2♦ later over 1NT from partner (xy-NT is on for us) - not over 2♣ though.
  2. 3♥ by south is ambigous, it could be just stopper showing, aiming for 3NT. Over 4♦ south should cuebid 4♠ IMO (yes, it HAS to be a cuebid, since 3♠ over 3♦ is a natural GF). That also clarifies that 3♥ was intended as a cuebid agreeing ♦'s (5♦ is what you bid with a hand that was looking for 3NT and has no slam interest), and north has enough information to bid 6♦.
  3. Why not? If you bid 1♥ on four and partner raised with say 1354, you'd prefer to play 3♦ instead of 3♥, at least at IMPs. I prefer raise of partner's suit after 1m-1M-2M to show exactly four in my suit, thus partner will know when to play in the minor. I've got other ways to invite holding five (or no fit for partner's suit).
  4. With ♠A9xx ♥KJx ♦Kxxx ♣xx vs ♠xxx ♥AQxxx ♦Qxx ♣Qx Our bidding would be: 1♣ - 1♦ 1♥ - 2♣ 2♦ - 2♥ pass 1♣=11-14/18-19 bal or nat 1♦=♥ 1♥=any hand with 3c♥, some with 4c♥ 2♣=xyz, puppet to 2♦ 2♦=11-14, 3c♥ (2♥ would show 13-14 and 4c♥, 2NT 18-19 and 3c♥, 3♥ a minimum 18-19 with 4c♥) 2♥=5+♥ inv
  5. Obvious splinter. 1♥ is forcing for me, so I'm unlimited. 3♠ of course invites slam.
  6. Pass. And I'd pass this even playing weak 2-suited openings, although that's close.
  7. Late night I bet I should not ask this but I do sigh....... This is an honest question. Is one d really standard expert opening in first seat? Yes I know this is a fine lite opening bid...just wonder if otherwise standard opening. No, it's not standard. It's a style question. Among experts there are light openers and solid openers. Helness-Helgemo would pass this, for example. I'm far from in their league, but with my latter partner this was an obvious opening - 1♣ (2+) in our methods. With another previous partner, where we had a very solid opening style, this was far from an opening bid.
  8. But here you also find: contradicting the 3rd suit forcing concept (other responses are OK, but over a 'forcing' 2D you have to raise to 3D on a (7+)8-count with 4-card support. I guess whoever wrote that on the site meant a 3rd suit bid at the 1-level.
  9. To me this is a very easy and obvious pass. I know some (very few) who disagree, though.
  10. The regulation on HOW to use the stop card in Norway is exactly the same as in the EBU. Both as a player and TD I strongly prefer the way we do it than any other procedure I've seen or heard about. Our regulation differ from the EBU in one respect; in competitive auctions we use the stop card before making any non-pass call from 3♣ and onward (if both opponents pass in one round of bidding, it isn't a competitive auction anymore). Of course lots of players over here - as everywhere else - doesn't follow correct procedure. Too bad for them - they're in trouble in any UI case in auctions where a stop card has been/should have been used.
  11. Looks like an obvious double by west. It's close to a 1NT overcall, but that really risks getting hammered. The east hand looks like a pass to me.
  12. It's not standard to play this sequence as forcing in Norway. I play it as 95% forcing, that is, partner is allowed to pass with a very week hand without fit - that is 1-3 in my suits and say 7 hcp or less - this is more forcing in nature than most people here do.
  13. Another problem showing that playing transfers after 1♠-1NT is far superior to standard, as long as you've got some convention to cover the minimum ♠-♣ hands.
  14. With a pick-up I'd expect this sequence to show 4-5, but I'd not be sure whether it was exactly inv or inv+, unless my partner had Smolen on his/her profile.
  15. I'd definitely pass this at IMPs - partner isn't joking when he doubles a partscore at IMPs. At MP it's a much tougher decision.
  16. I'd overcall 3♣ over any non-club 1-level opening and also open 3♣ as dealer with this hand. All four actions seem pretty clear to me - IMO the upside far outweigh the downside.
  17. 3♦ followed by raising 3M to game or 4♦ over 3NT. Expect 1NT to be 15-18, and partner is sitting over opener. Can't just invite on this.
  18. Anything could be right here, but I'd most probably lead a low club.
  19. Eventhough north already showed a hand with playing strength with his jump to 4♠, I think the hand is so good that you should double 5♦ to show real power. Anyway, south should bid 5♠ over 5♥ with a known double fit and no defence, whether or not north doubled.
  20. Hjertelig til lykke med dagen, Helene! Håper de er gavmilde med stikkene mot deg i bridgeklubben i kveld. :)
