  1. 5♦ for me to. KISS
  2. For me this splinter shows a void, as does 1M-4m, 1m-3M etc.
  3. Well, if opps found the worst bid, it's OK to stay out of the auction.....
  4. 1♥. I don't like 2NT with this, with week hearts and a potential spade fit. And 1♦ is worse. Double would never enter my mind.
  5. Why is that? I used to play a lot against Ekren's 2♦ and 2♥ earlier, but those are uncommon in Norway these days, since most people had very little trouble defending. Of course, when the Ekren opener hit a good fit with partner, it's hard to defend against it, since they jump to the 4-level (or higher) on the first round of bidding.
  6. 3♣ shows 5-5 to me, so that's definitely out on JTx. The alternatives would be 2NT and 3♠. 3♠ probably gives us the best chance for reaching the best spot.
  7. Ehh, the hand is sitting over the opener and passed throughout, and the question is whether you should double 3NT for a spade lead or not. IMO it's an easy pass, not remotely close to a double.
  8. I'm a light opener, but this one is an easy pass. We should have no trouble getting into the auction later, and avoid a stupid 3NT (for example), as Josh comments above.
  9. 1♠ of course, WTP? That should be unanimous.....
  10. 2♦ followed by double would show a stronger hand for me.
  11. It's an obvious double to me. A lot of Norwegians wouldn't double with only 3-card ♥s here, and prefer to overcall 2♦. I don't like that approach at all.
  12. This is a clear 1NT response for me. Not an absolute minimum.
  13. Even for me this is a GF. A little weaker, and I'd raise to 3♦.
  14. I don't think that "present count" and "original fourth best" mean the same thing here. Playing "original fourth best, you should lead back the 3; playing "present count", you should lead the 4, following the normal principle that you signal with the highest card you can afford. I don't agree with "the highest card you can afford" part. But with the actual suit I'd return the 4, since that's easier to read for partner.
  15. In Norwegian: http://nbf.bridge.no
  16. If I could double for penalties and bid 2NT for the minors over 2♥, that'd be my choice. I don't have that agreement though. So then it's tougher. I'd probably go 2NT.
  17. I'd have rebid 2♦, assuming I've taken over for someone after my first bid. I'd have WJS'd.
  18. Agree with this almost 100%. But IMO it's closer between 2♣ and 3NT being the worst bid than David think.
  19. ..also if you already discarded? e.g: Holding AT5432, you discarded the 3 and still have AT542 when partner plays to your A. Now you return from T542 the 4? Yes, except I'd not have discarded the 3. :( (If I discarded from this suit I'd either have encouraged with the 2 or discouraged with the 5.)
  20. Happy birthday and good luck in Beijing! Remember to NOT beat my Norwegian friends though!! :P
  21. This whole thing is weird. I don't need my partner to double to tell me I've got a singleton to lead. Lacking an ace, I'd normally lead my singleton, hoping to hit partner with the ace or the trump ace. So this double is NOT about leading hearts. The bidding seems to indicate that dummy is 4234 and declarer 1525 (or maybe 2524/2514 with a spade control). That indicates a diamond lead to me, but then partner would rather double 4♦. Not sure if this leads me towards any solution at all. I'm just leading a spade.
  22. You couldn't help yourself, could you? :P
  23. Normally a clear pass. Under some circumstances I might chose something else, of course. No idea why this thread was reopened....
