  1. My partners would bid 3NT with that hand, so that's not an issue. Still, double might be right. To me this is very close between pass and double. I really don't know what I would do. I'd have to be at the table.
  2. I'd raise to 3♥, but I'm minimum for that when partner balanced. A 2♠ cue would never ever occur to me with this hand - I'd pass several times before bidding 2♠. :)
  3. I favor light openings. But that 2nd hand 1♥ is really sick IMO, unless you play some non-standard system. The 3NT bid is far worse - I lack the words to describe it. I don't know why you bid 2♠. It's an overbid, and a negative double is more descriptive. But still - that doesn't account for the final result. I'll assign 5% to west and 150% to east. :) Btw, I'd turn the table doubling with the north hand. :D
  4. I'll follow Noble's plan and just finesse trumps. This caters for ♥'s 4-1.
  5. 4♥. It might make, it might be a good save, it might steal enough room to get opps overboard..... there's a lot of good things that might happen. Of course it might cost 2-3 IMPs if 500 vs a game (who cares?), it might be a phantom or I might go for 800 vs a game. Maybe the downside is bigger than the upside - I really don't know. But I like to put on pressure.
  6. If partner bid 6♥ to make, there's something seriously wrong with his 4♥ opening.... or he expected some other hand from me. I don't think opps are sure who is saving here, but for me it looks to be us. Partner should have a non-heart trick for his double, doesn't have to be a void. I'll lead the ♣A, since then I might know how to beat it at trick 2. The alternative would be a trump, to avoid too many ruffs.
  7. 3♠. I'll pass 3NT, 4♥ and 4♠ from partner. If partner rebids 4♣ (cue), I'll give him a hand with 4♦ (a slight overbid, I know).
  8. In my regular partnership I'm lucky enough to be able to rebid 2♣ (transfer) and follow up with 2 (or 3 if I fancy that)♠. Playing standard methods I'd rebid 2♦. Partner would strive not to pass, so I don't think it's a disaster when he does pass. If I survive this, I'm fine. ;)
  9. Not only allowed - I would just love to see anyone playing them. ;) I'd never ever consider playing transfer preempts myself. I think it's the most stupid convention I've ever run into - see Phil's post above.
  10. Let me guess.... you'll start playing it? ;)
  11. A simple 1♥. Higher openings misdescribe the hand. I'm comfortable opening at the 1-level. Overcalls will just help out when I later declare some number of hearts. And I've got decent defence too.
  12. I think you'd get some votes for pass, but yeah 3N for me as well. Agree. My first instinct was to pass, but I'd bid 3NT too.
  13. 1♦ for me. Want to get my suit in first. If partner bids 1M I'll rebid 2♣. If opener rebids 2♣ and it goes pass, pass, I'll reopen with a double.
  14. I can't say I'd absolutely pass at the table. But agree with Josh that it's the best call.
  15. ditto. 3♥ followed by 4♣ if partner signs off. If he rebids 4♠, then 5♣ next. Roland Same for me.
  16. 1NT for me. I can live with 2♣ too, but prefer 1NT.
  17. Wow. I play this, but didn't think anyone else did. Most seem to like cuebidding or shortness trials here in my experience. However, assuming that a 2♥ bid the transfer to ♠s, I would rebid 2NT over it - superaccepting in NT shows the suit bid by responder in my system. Is this poor? I don't play this myself, but know people who do (Brogeland-Sælensminde among them). They play 2NT as a max with 4c support and no strong side suit, AFAIK. If you don't superaccept without a maximum, your method should be superior, since it's spacesaving.
  18. For NT purposes, this is a good 17 IMO. If partner transfers to ♠'s, the ♠T devalues. Normally, one of the side suit holdings devalues too, while the other two gains value - according to partners (at this time unknown) shape. Mostly the same happens if partner transfers to ♥'s. I'd always superaccept if partner transfers to a major here. My agreements is to bid 3M with minimum and 3x with a weak doubleton. Here I'd bid 2NT over a major suit transfer - I won't treat ♦QJ as a weak doubleton. Playing a method where you bid a strong four card sidesuit when super accepting, I'd rebid 2♠ over a transfer to ♥'s and 3♥ over a transfer to ♠'s.
  19. 1) Agree. I've made my move already by bidding 5♣. When partner doesn't bid at the 5-level, I double. Partner's pass is forcing IMO, if he takes out my double I'll bid 6♠. 2) Agree. 3) Agree.
  20. I don't play wk2♦ NV, but do vul. Then it's very constructive. But I'd still pass with this hand.
  21. Agree with Ben and Justin's post - 4♣ is a clear cue bid agreeing ♠'s.
  22. It might not be, but this really looks like a misfit. I've learned how to bid misfits - you don't. I'll pass this.
