  1. In natural methods I prefer 15-17 throughout. In a strong ♣ system I played for several years till 18 years ago, we also played 15-17NT and 5cM in all seats. At MP we tried out 4cM, 12-14NT in 1st and 2nd seat and 15-17 in 3rd and 4th seat. Seemed to work fine for us.
  2. No. 2 is "standard" in Norway. I don't know any pair using the queen ask as promising all keycards if you can still stop at the 5-level. In fact, I guess 75%+ of all queen asks are made to determine if you should stop at the 5-level (without) or bid slam (with).
  3. This method and other either-or methods work only if you understand them. If you don't, stay away! I definitely agree on that. And I do know how to apply these methods. I'm not 100% sure if that's true for my regular partner now since we so seldom run into bigclubbers these days and have little practise. But him being a sensible guy and generally a good bidder, I'd expect little trouble, if any at all.
  4. I'm happy to open on xxx, since that will always be 1♣, and playing a T-Walsh variation I'm mostly off to a better auction than the field. :) Often we have autcions not revealing our minor suit lenghts and holdings, making it difficult for opps to evaluate our number of tricks (we open 1♣ on 11-14 and 3-3-5-2 for example). Of course on occasion they guess to lead ♣'s when the suit is open or only once stopped, but just as often it's the other way around.
  5. I prefer to bid as often as possible over a big club. At the 1-level i prefer "CRASH": x=Colour, blacks or reds 1♦=RAnk, majors or minors 1NT=SHape, pointed or rounded 1M=natural, good hand, might be our hand At the 2-level I use "Amundsen": 2♣=♦ OR majors 2♦=♥ OR 4♠-6+m 2♥=4♥-6+m 2♠=natural After 2-way bids, we use the multi principle; partner bids as high as he can and is ready for correction. Passing first and entering later (natural overcall or t/o double) shows a strong hand.
  6. 1st choice: ♣6 2nd choice: ♦4 3rd choice: ♥J No choice: a trump
  7. 1. 55+ GF. 2. 5-4 NF (sign off, opener passes or gives preference to 2♠). I play xyz here (others play NMF, check-back, gazzilli or whatever). Any adv+ I know play some gadget after 1x-1y-1NT.
  8. That actually makes sense, going from 75% to 70% to 50%. The longer you think about it, the more likely will they figure out the bad trump split ;-). ROFL! :P
  9. 1. I rebid 2♣. Far from 3♣, too strong for 1NT and offshape and a little light for 2NT. 2. This would be a lebensohl position for me. I'd either bid 3NT, denying a stopper or 2NT..3NT showing a stopper, probably the latter.
  10. This is an obvious 2♥ overcall to me. I'd not consider passing.
  11. Agree with the majority here. Too strong for a direct 2NT. Double followed by NT.
  12. I agree, it's a stupid defence. But it's nothing new. Some people used the same here some 15-20 years ago. Of cource it doesn't really show 13 cards. They've got other bids to show some hands, and they still pass other hands too. It's bad disclosure - they should always tell which hands they can't have (at least what hands they might/would pass in stead of overcalling this "random" 1♠).
  13. I guess he means the average - at least 60% without the double.... :)
  14. Pass - clearcut. I haven't got the values to bid, partner most possibly haven't got a fitting hand and I've got no bid to describe this hand (other than pass :( ).
  15. I was going to propose the same line, when I read the OP today, but Frances beat me to it.
  16. You're normally not allowed to double your partner. I know it could be nice on occasion.... :D
  17. This is very close between bidding game and making an invite. Since partner is very strong, I'll ask him to evaluate his hand and stand by his decision. So I'll bid 3♥. At IMPs I'd just bid game myself.
  18. Well done Justin. I agree pass is a LA suggested by the UI, so the ethical thing to do is pass 3NT.
  19. I love it..much better than the awful "SA" responses to J2NT. Is there a web site explaining further continuations after the relays ? I looked but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for and found some different responses to Stenberg as well. TY .. neilkaz .. You won't find this variant on any website I know of. But I'll fill you in how I play it: 1M-2NT 3♣-3♦ (relay) 3♥=11-12NT 3♠=any singleton =>3NT=relay, 4♣=♣, 4♦=♦, 4M=OM 3NT=13-14NT 4m=void 4M=void OM 1M-2NT 3♦-3♥ (relay) 3♠=single ♣ 3NT=single ♦ 4m=lowest cue, single OM 4M=now side suit cue, single OM 1M-2NT 3♥-3♠ (relay) 4♣=6322 =>4♣ relays for 3c up the line 4m=4c (5422) 4M=4cOM (5422)
  20. Double and, presumably, let them pay for their indiscretion. :P
  21. You're a little light for a reverse here. Just rebid 2♣ - that's not a bad thing. :P
  22. No, this is a clear pass IMO. 2NT - this is a maximum though.
  23. You should read Ulf (Ulven) Nilsson's blog: http://viewsfromthebridgetable.blogspot.com/
  24. 1NT=15-18 balanced 2♣=two unbid suits 2♥=natural 2NT=two unbid suits, more distributional
