  1. A couple of my players are complaining that the BBO hands are not random but have been selected to be "interesting" I know this is not true, but they are not convinced. Is there somewhere a description as to how the random hands are generated? Do you use a program like BigDeal? If not, what algorithm is used to generate random numbers and convert to hands. Is there a writeup somewhere?
  2. Click on the tournament and pick "Substitutes" Substitute Select sitout by robot Do it twice to replace both players in the pair
  3. Used robots tonight to fill a half table. Also to fill a disconnect. Everything worked fine
  4. Running a VACB virtual club game. How do we specify?
  5. The report I got says that robots frequently (always?) freeze at the start of a new round.
  6. In favor of ignoring the laws? No. But the platform does not provide for the part of the laws for procedural penalties. So we look for an alternative. Don't like that - find another platform. Of course you can see no technical obstacle. But then you haven't studied nearly 20 years worth of code.
  7. I have noticed the same thing. But some who are missing have played many times at the club. They show up as associated with my club on the VPortal, but are not in the include list. I simply add them as friends.
  8. You can also click on the tournament and then "Unregister offline pairs"
  9. The TD can talk privately to the players and try to resolve the discrepancy. This is what happens in face to face. The director can then apply the Laws. We do it all the time when an alert/explanation doesn't match the system card. No reason to do anything different online. The software is what it is. There are lots of changes that can be made, but not overnight.
  10. Apparently you must first Sub-any and then replace that sub with your sub using sub-select. Then Sub-select again to lock them in their seats. Why sub-select doesn't work the first time is a mystery.
  11. When you sub-select in your players then sub-select them again. replace them with themselves. That makes them permanent
  12. I would like to see a list of all boards that have had an adjusted score assigned in the tournament I am directing. Some boards seem to be automatically adjusted to averages when I could assign a real score.
  13. Your face-to-face style is to leave early in over 25% of your tournaments. Not at my club. Leave early once you might get away with it. Twice, you won't get a chance for a third time.
  14. Yesterday evening I was running an ACBL club tournament that started with a half table. It was about 1 minute before the end of the first round before I found the second sub. What happens when I can't find that sub. This was a 0-1500 game. Monday I am running a 0-500 game and I really don't want subs with lots more points than that.
  15. Your intention was to play in 3NT and you selected the 3NT bid. Law 25A does not apply. Absent-mindedly is not the same as unintended.
  16. In the ACBL A jump to 2NT as unusual does not require an alert A Non-jump of 2NT as unusual by a passed hand does not require an alert A Non-jump of 2NT as unusual by a non-passed hand does require an alert But as barmar said, this is probably NOT in the ACBL
  17. I am working on procedures to use BBO robots as fillins at our club as described in the latest ACBL Bridge Bulletin I will be using a teaching table with robots N/S I want to be able to turn off UNDOs by the players. Leaving them as an option for the teacher (director) would be a plus THanks John Nichols Indianapolis Bridge Center
  18. So, are you saying I can pull an ace from my sleeve and legally win a trick with it?
  19. In the ACBL it is legal at all levels. It does require an immediate alert.
  20. 4. A player has played an incorrect number of cards to a trick.
  21. Ask your players if they would be willing to pay an extra 10% or 20% in card fees to get dealing machine and electronic scoring. They may look at you like you are crazy. If I asked my players if they would be willing to get rid of ours and reduce card fees and they would throw me out of the club. I guess it depends on your point of view.
  22. Every club that I have an association with, as a player or a director, investigates every allegation of cheating that is brought to the director or to club management and takes appropriate action. What more do you suggest that we do?
  23. if non-consecutive ranges are to be counted as though they are a single range (12-13 / 18-20 counts as 8) then why even mention them in the regulations?
