Clock in a block? What do these things mean?
bid_em_up replied to msfolly's topic in BBO Support Forum
The clock is the time remaining in the tournament (how much time is left to finish all 12 boards) The rank is your current rank position in the tournament The MP% is your current Master Point percentage. -
3rd Seat Weak Opening

I hate to break it to you, but it is practically impossible to define the word law without the regulations part being included in the definition by default. Most readers are likely capable of understanding that the two terms are interchangeable. Sorry that I didn't pick the one that met your satisfaction. Also, if you had bothered to actually comprehend my post, I was pointing out that the regulation (law) regarding psyching 1C still applied, just like it did earlier in the thread when it was pointed out that the 1D psyche was prohibited, as both are conventional bids in precision. I'm done here. This isn't worth wasting any more of my time on. No wonder there was recently a thread lamenting the lack of participation. Why would anyone want to do so for this nonsense? -

Sorry. Most of us consider it more important to not be thought to be a douche and know how to read the intent of a post without quibbling about how it's worded or if it meets our own individual standards. Guess your standards are different... Some things never change. -
3rd Seat Weak Opening

I could, but it's really to much to type on mobile, and there's always some self serving prick that's always too happy to point it out. -

The problem with the 1C scenario is that pesky little "not allowed to psyche a conventional bid" part of the laws.... -
I'd call the director on you as my partner if you opened 2c on this. 😉
-
Loosely translated that appears to say "anybody bidding a total nonsense 3D is an idiot". And I don't even know what language it was. 😄

Aye yai yai. Technically, that's 7 tricks for declarer. But who's counting? You are missing the fact that he can score two spades in addition to these for a total of nine. Do you know how to use the movie and select play to control the play of all four hands? Try it and see for yourself. Declarer will take two high diamonds, 2 spades (he ducks a 2nd spade to the stiff ace & later takes a spade finesse), AK of hearts, the Ace of clubs, and a ruff in each hand. That's nine.

Learn to use GIB. 3d can still be made on your suggested defense.
-
on a club lead, ruff in hand. Trump to ace, ruff club. Draw 2 rounds of trumps, play spade to A, cash club ace pitching diamond from hand and run trumps. 3 card ending will be: AKx diamonds in dummy, q spaded & 109 diamond in hand. East cannot hold the spade king & qjx diamonds in the three card ending. He must give one of them up. There is a slight indication that this is better than straight spade finesse. East only had 2 clubs and one heart, so has 10 cards in spades & diamonds. Jmoo

Well, Mike, unfortunately, I was playing with someone who I consider(ed) to be an expert player. After I bid 3N, he said "This hand should pass". I responded, "This hand is 3N 100%'. To which he replied, "You are relatively inexperienced (compared to me) and if you want to argue with me, i will just mark you as another idiot and not waste my time." So.... I'm just making sure that this hand actually is, 3N, 100%. And that he is the real idiot. So far, so good. (I didn't suggest 3D for any reason other than I couldn't think of what the heck else he would have me do.)

♠K104 ♥1073 ♦K10542 ♣94 Both Vul, IMP scoring With opps silent, auction is: 1♣-1♦-2N-? vanilla 2/1 system And if anyone could run a simulation on how often passing 2N is right, versus bidding 3D/3N, it would be appreciated. Thanks

I can't comment on South's bidding without officially earning my first warning, so I will refrain from doing so.
-
you mention "Kantar for the Defense, vol 2", you should also get Vol 1, along with the 2-3 books he has on declarer play as well.
-
Change the hand to: [hv=pc=n&n=skhkqj9dkt82ckq32]133|100[/hv] and your partner may be right. As it is, there is nothing to be gained from opening 1N on the hand in question and much to be lost.
-
Not to mention the opponents have to forget to cash the diamond Ace at trick one.

I'm not quite sure how we gained on board 7. I'm fairly certain we stopped in 6C (but don't have access to hand records @ the moment.) If Tyler sees this, maybe he can verify. Edit: I have verified that we were only in 6C on board 7. So, I'm not sure how we gained here.

Ben, Tyler & I were supposed to do our bidding last night @ 7 pm. We were there (from 7 to 8), but no host to be found (I thought you had said you would be there). I am unavailable tonight, but will be available tomorrow (Sat) afternoon EDT. Hopefully Tyler is also. Thanks!

Mainly dislikes so far, sorry. As mentioned elsewhere, the red topic bar is hideous. It is also too thick (takes up too much vertical room on screen). All individual topics also take up too much vertical room. Likes/Dislikes functionality seems to have an error of some sort. I successfully liked a post early today, now when I try to "like" another one, I receive an error telling me "Action Failed: You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day". One?? A negative vote just receives "Action Failed: New website address: forums.bridgebase.com was not filtered by Websense. bridgebase.com/forums is. Personal info extending down left side of post: For those with long information in their profile, this increases the size of the post. Likes? I'll have to get back to you on that.

South said they had a spade stop when they bid 2N, why North does not bid 3N after that looking at 8 tricks in their own hand is beyond me.
-
thank you but not my anwer  Huh? Then what are you looking for?
-
If partner is responding 1♠on ♠QT87 ♥Q83 ♦QJ6 ♣653 after a 1♥ opening, I think you have more things to worry about than getting to slam on this particular hand. (edit: this is stated from a 2/1 or SAYC context, I suppose you could be playing something else where this is normal)
