I have got a different experience. I was asked to create a tourney for somebody who was not authorised to do it. After entitling him as co-director, he could maintain the include list. Of course he overwrote my list, but the valid list has become whose, who last time modified the tourney. But not each entitled co-director's screen contained the custom list button.

I create a tournament and I give TD right to the tournament for somebody. If he wants to modify the tourney, especially wants to include a member list, there are some who sees the Create Tournament and the Include/Exclude Lists buttons and others not. Why?

I hoped that my complaints concerning the TD functions would be remedied in the newest release. I realized that nothing has changed. I know that the TD problems concern only some hundred BBO members (the TDs) directly. But take it in consider: there are more than 100 tournaments daily with 20 tables in average. It means that there are at least 8000 players daily who are concerned indirectly. If the TD cannot fluently fulfill his duty, after all the players will be afflicted and therefore the solution of the TD problems should be prioritized higher.

Is this the greatest problem? The newest version is still full of functional errors and nothing has changed.

I wanted to play with my partner in a casual play and I opened a new table. My partner couldnot accept the invitation because there was no Yes and No button in the invitation panel. He told me, that the bottom part of the panel is invisible. He tried to move it up and down but the panel remained truncated. I tested it in my own PC with normal and wide display, there was no problem. What can cause this error? Another problem: this panel disappears after about 20-30 seconds in the new BBO version, if it appears at all. In the old version the panel remained until I answered it.

In a former post I already mentioned that the TD feature of the new version is pratically unusable. That time the new version was full of flaws and for the developers it was more important to correct these bugs than those in the TD feature. But the time flies and I have not realized any change in this area. I hope the crew works hard on this topics, too. I hope you know the problems, but if not, I can put together a list of bugs.

I withdraw my praise, the private club maintenance functions are again out of order.

And is there any intention to repair it in the near future? A lot of potential new members wait for it.

I manage a private club in the BBO, the BBO Hungarian Club (BBO Magyar Klub). Today I wanted to maintain the membership list, but I couldnot access the club data. If I clicked on the line of the club, I arrived at the page of the previous club in the list. If I clicked on the line of the next club, I arrived at my club, but I couldnot maintain its data.

Another disfunction of the new BBO version: I was TD and wanted to adjust 2 unfinished deals. There was no problem with the first, but when I wanted to adjust the second one, I saw the bids and play of the first one.

The duplication of the results happens when one or more ones have been adjusted. Then you can see the calculated results both before and after the correction.

The History of a finished tournament is completely chaotic. It shows twice so many results as played, does not show the adjusted results, does not add the result of the last round to the final result, etc. If I see the results in the BBO-myhands, it is correct there.

I think, the CC option doesn't work properly in the v3 version. I filled in a New ACBL Convention Card, added my partner's name and saved. The CC then appeared as a Personal Card. But as I clicked again on it, I was asked what to do with it. There were 3 possibilities: View, Edit and Delete and a window: Use with partner. If I click on Edit or View, I see only empty boxes for input and if I want to add a partner, there is no option to save it.

There are really some good improvements in the newest HTML5 version. But I noticed some new problems, or perhaps not new, at least new for me. As a TD I found extremely slow loading the list of tables (Director menu, show tables option). Sometimes it takes more than a minute and if I want to take a look at the tables still playing, the next round follows before showing it. The other thing that requires repair, to refresh the list of tourneys. If I change the options of a tourney (or by copying I enter a new tourney), I must switch to another menupoint and switch back in order to see the amendments. Is an automatic refreshment not possible?

There is another trouble with the History. If I want to see an earlier deal in a tourney by positioning the cursor on it, I see the result of it, but the diagram under it shows the last played deal, not the concerned one. If I want to do this, at first I must switch to the other tables, look for my result there and then switch back to my own results.

The Chat Manager can be acivated by clicking on an empty point in the Chat Message area. But what to do if this area is full?

This is partially true. I made the following: I switched off all notifications and then I made a logoff. Then I signed in again and the notifications were switched off. After a while (about 20 minutes later) I signed in again and the first 2 notifications were switched on again. And the same happens if I switch off pictures of cards.

There are a lot of problems I have collected both as player and as TD in the new BBO version. Some of them are only uncomfortable but others are really annoying. Minor problems: • In the Flash version as I began a tourney, it automatically switched to Results. Now I must manually switch to the History menu. • Making a double dummy analysis the figure of overtricks or undertricks are too small and the colour of it is difficult to recognize. • The account settings will not be saved or only partially saved. Some settings will be reset on the default value. • The handling of the Chat Manager is very clumsy. I store my messages I want to send about our bidding system and signals there, but it is not easy to fetch and post them to the appropriate target. Major problems: • As TD I do the following: I play a tourney in a window under my playing BBO-name with one of the browsers and direct it in another window under my TD-name with another browser. This is useful, because as TD I don’t see all results in one and so can’t see the unfinished boards. As player I see these by switching on the other tables. But this “Other tables” option is not reliable. Yesterday e.g. I saw 3 AVEs in a deal but there were really only 2 of them. The History option is generally a little chaotic. If I navigate on it (previous or next deal), sometimes I see the correct row in the result but the wrong deal. And this is unpredictable, sometimes the deal corresponds to the result, sometimes not. • The Director (TD) option in the new version is more difficult than it was in the Flash version. I wanted to determine the result of an unfinished deal and it took minutes to do this. Loading the deal took long seconds and to replay it until the break, too. The players are impatient, they play slowly but allow the TD no delay in order to adjust their result. :)

Some comments to the Hungarian translator of BBO: 1) As I mentioned earlier, it is unfortunate to call two different things identically. In the Messages menu both Chat and Mail is translated to Üzenetek. It can be annoying. It would be better to call Chat as Csevegés and Mail as Postaláda. This identical expression can disturb the player during the play. 2) Another annoying point: During bidding the players’ positions in the bidding box are abbreviated by the English letters, i.e. N, E, S and W. For the hands there are the Hungarian abbreviations, i.e. É, K, D and N (correctly Ny, because „ny” are two letters, but only one graphemics). 3) Not so important, but can be corrected: During loading the tournaments, this text is posted: “A versenyek listája törtődik”. The correct text would be “A versenyek listája töltődik” or even more “A betöltés folyamatban”, i.e. “Loading in progress”. (Or the best solution for all languages to show a sandglass icon.) 4) On the Login panel the Hungarian text is „Betöltés. Kérem várj…” for “Loading. Please wait”. The expression “kérem várj” doesn’t fit to each other, either “kérem, várjon” in polite form or “kérlek, várj” in familiar form.

Thanks, I found it. The Host button is so small in the profile that it is hard to find.

I am not only a common BBO user but a TD and yellow as well. And as a former software developer, I have a deeper view into the BBO. I don’t think that you need a critique as “I hate it”, “I love it” or similar, because this don’t help your developers to make BBO better. Nevertheless, I have some comments, especially concerning the TD functions. 1) The list of pending tournaments consists empty rows with dummy tourneys.I suppose It can occur if I generate new tourneys by copying old ones. 2) List of tables: The size of the window of the tables is not adjustable and the right border of the window partially covers the names of the West players. 3) The popup menus are immovable: if the menu is on the bottom of the screen, the lower part of the menu is invisible and cannot be used. It is a problem e.g. when a disconnected player must be replaced: if the player is on the bottom of the list of tables, by right-clicking on the name the last one or two rows of the popup menu cannot be used. 4) I do not find the yellow functions at all. 5) It would be advisable to make a short guide for TDs, how to use, where to find the different functions in the new BBO. During directing a tourney there is no time to discover these or to make experiments, the players are impatient. If I direct tourneys in the new BBO, I will gain new experiences and If I find new problems, I will announce them.
