  1. Obviously you don't want to convert or bid 1NT, but it is legal to bid ♥s having passed on the first round after a reopening X.
  2. For the overwhelming majority of experts the negative double says nothing about ♦s. Hence a 2♦ rebid by opener is a reverse, needing the same hand stength as is if responder had bid 1M.
  3. I like pass here with a void in partner's suit. Double makes it more likely that partner will rebid some number of ♣s which I don't want to encourage. I accept that occasionally I may miss a game but more often it I think it gets our side into trouble. We need a pretty good hand opposite to make 4♥.
  4. When LHO has 2632 with HT of clubs Ruffing a heart, cashing 3 rounds of diamonds, does not gain, because we can still effect the same elimination after playing a second ♠. Win say ♦ switch, ♥ ruff, ♦, ♥ ruff, ♣A, ♥ ruff, cash last ♦, duck ♣ when LHO plays the T.
  5. I would pass and 2NT. No fitting ♥ honor, probably only one ♦ stop.
  6. I would double on the first round rather than 2♦. 3♦ was ludicrous over 2♠ and worse than partner's 4♦
  7. Fairly clear I thought. You have passed say as dealer, and later made a take-out of a one of a suit opening. If you raise partner's response to the 2 level in competition, the pop-up explanation says this shows 19-20 HCP, which I think let's say politely is unlikely.
  8. 5-5 hands will Michaels so logically this should show 6-4
  9. If you raise partner's response to a passed hand t/o X GIB seems to think this shows 19/20 HCP for some reason.
  10. Assuming there is a ♦A in the pack, that might at least promote his choice of lead to third in your ranking.
  11. I have had this a couple of times 1♦ 1♠ 2♣ 2NT now GIB bid 3♠ on a hand with lets says politely less than adequate ♠ support. Most recently it had a 1444 13 count
  12. 1♣ 1♦ P 1♥ now after P P GIB according to the mouseover thinks 1NT is 5/5 in the blacks 10/11 points?
  13. I don't think 3♣ is terrible but you have two decent cards in partner's suits and 3♣ is a level higher. hence 2♠.
  14. Well because it's actual defense of giving a ruff and discard was 100% guaranteed to let the contract through, if declarer had 4 hearts whilst attempting to cash two ♦s would have worked on the actul hand. Declarer was within range for a 15-17 NT.
  15. Playing for Kx offside is a normal play? Say in a similar situation declarer had to play AKQT9x op xxx for no loser. Would you make him finesse into stiff J offside?
  16. IMO _P = 10, 4♦ = 5, 3♠ = 2 You're joking with these score? Anything but pass is an obvious zero.
  17. Can anyone explain why GIB thought 4♠ was a good idea after P P 1♦ 2♦ P with Jxx Jxx xxx xxxx? Also it would be good to have some way to play in a minor after 1♠ 2♠ 4♠ ? 5 minor show some huge hand with that suit and 4NT is RKCB
  18. The bidding went 1NT 2♣ 2♥ 4♥ uncontested. During the play it was revealed that declarer had 5♣and two rounds of ♠ were played. GIB when it got in gave a ruff and discard rather than cash two winners♦. I assume that is because GIB assumes opening 1NT with a 2425 shape is heresy and it therefore assumed declarer was 2335?
  19. GIB is banned from leading a stiff trump K.
  20. Agree with Gnasher's reasons for passing.
  21. If you're hoping to learn something about opening leads, it is unlikely you will learn anything from GIB's lead choices which are generally terrile especially against NTs.
  22. North nearly 100%. Obvious to bid 3♠, even if he was unsure what the double was the ♦Kxx should have given him a clue.
  23. 1♠ X 2♠ 3♣ 3♥ P 4♠ 5♦ 5 ♦ showed 5+♦, 4+♣ apparently. Would be nice if we could show our long suit first.
