The situation is much different than the Cold War, but in both cases engagement with govenments, leading by example, and patiently waiting for change is much better than reactionary violence. We really can't deprogram individuals who are trying to kill us. What we can do is to try to make it possible that the next generation has far fewer of these folks. Peter

Clinton should never have been impeached. He had a high approval rating, which was driven to near 70% by the impeachment process. His impeachment is a great example of what to avoid. The Republican party suffered in the 1998 elections because of this. Nixon, OTOH, was forced to resign by congressional Republicans, who saw increasing numbers of Republican voters turn against him. This took quite a while. I don't think this will happen to Cheney or Bush. Peter

There's very little we can do to positively affect Islamic culture. There's a lot we can do to stop providing ammunition to the anti-Western radicals. Start behaving decently, for one... Peter

Impeachment won't and shouldn't happen until a large majority of voters want it to happen, including a lot of Republicans. It should never be a partisan action. That doesn't mean he doesn't *deserve* it, though :P Peter

Opening bid style is only important as it shapes the meaning of 2S. The main question is really: what the the range of 2S? The secondary questions are vulnerability and scoring. IMO, playing 2S as 6-9(bad 10), it's crazy to invite. 8-10, you've got to invite vul at imps, 8-10 at other vul/scoring combinations and 7-10 vul at imps it's marginal but OK. Peter
