The only situation that would require a movement change given the above set up is if there were only 9 pairs registered originally i.e enough to run a 9 round Howell. Whether you let the movement continue with a sit-out or fill the half table with human or robot subs is entirely your choice. Once a pair does not start, we then have 8 pairs and not enough numbers to run 9 rounds. Any number above 5 tables would not have affected the movement if a pair does not start as there would still be enough pairs to play 9 rounds.

Good to know that, thx.
-
That will work but you need another + before howell e.g. +howell+ +rounds9+
-
+hm18+ only works with 3-6 tables otherwise will run as a Mitchell with 7 plus tables and revenge rounds if 9 rounds of 2 boards set, for rounds 8 and 9. What you should have set is +allavail+ +howell+ +rounds9+ then that will run 9 rounds of 2 boards with any number of tables 5 or greater. +hm18+ will run 6 rounds of 3 boards with 3 or 4 tables (revenge round with 3) and 9 rounds of 2 with 5 or 6 tables. Not sure what +nap+ does.

As far as I know, allowing robots means a human can buy a robot to play with. Two robots together would be to fill a sit-out, or take place of a disconnected human playing with a robot.

No, just the same effect as deregistering the pair. They are never part of the tournament whichever way the Director gets it started.

Hi Roger, I have 3 different lists. 1) No restrictions, open to anyone 2) An "Include players followed by host" list. Everyone on this list can register. 3) "Include" Custom list" list. Everyone on this list can enter. Option 3 can be used where you wish to restrict players who are on list option 2. For example you may wish only beginners, etc to this list.

Systems says insufficient BBO$ to allow players join

It's possible that one or both were offline at the start. It's the same message. -
We finish about 2115 hrs so a wait until shortly after 2200 hrs when results become available is no hardship for us. Not sure how many of the 123 clubs play in the morning/afternoon.
-
Was the vebu club host online at the start or were you added as an additional Director. If so the Howell won't run and will run as an ordinary Mitchell movement of 8 rounds.
-
Did you add the command +rounds8+ otherwise it would run as a normal movement with E/W 1 playing N/S 1-5 then 1,2 and 3 again (8 rounds)
-
Same here. Get same error message no traveller data and whilst running "cannot connect to server"

In addition you need to modify any other pending tournaments you may have created.

Setting up a "Pro-Am" club game
kenjay replied to aeroguy99's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
Create a custom list for your tournament (found under Entries) and populate it with eligible names. Anyone not on the list will be unable to register. -
There’s a thought. Run the Mitchell one session. Then the two Howells as you say inviting the N/S into one and E/W into the other. Create the XML files using J Goachers’s BBO to XML program, then merging the three XML files to create a new csv to create a new complete XML file combining the three sessions. No need to do it by hand. Any reason that would not work?

What we consider normal Swiss may be different from other parts of the world. I have often used a Danish draw for the last round of a “normal” Swiss in the case of a smallish number of tables.

Running a multi session tournament
kenjay replied to ahtan's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
Why not just run a 10 table Mitchell 2 boards/round in Round 1 Then take top 5 N/S and top 5 E/W and 2nd round run a 5 table full howell 9 rounds for these pairs for round 2 and similarly the same for the bottom half E/Ws. Yes you can run 2 sessions together unless you are restricted. in 2nd round of course pairs will probable play against pairs they played in round 1. Of course that is 38 boards in total, and, yes you can use same deal file for 2 tournaments Of course i may be misunderstanding you. -
Appears we are still having them. Lots of our members struggling to log on and find tournaments tonight.

I get this on one of my laptops, but only when I log out. Just thought it was me.

Had a regular player registering for a tournament today. However, when she loggged on she got a message saying 'you are barred for 2 minutes' or similar. Then told to report @abuse etc. Any reason for this?

Edit Tournament Time until start
kenjay replied to Bri_and's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
Not sure if this is your problem, but my login won't go beyond 14 days when modifying tournaments. -
+hm18+ only works for Howells of 3,4,5,6 tables. Any other number and +hm18+ is ignored. As previously posted use the +roundsX+ hack to play a partial Howell.
-
Looks like 8 table Full Howell playing 15 rounds. If total boards was less than 30 In set up the assume it tried the next best thing to achieve 15 rounds I.e one board per round. How many boards did you expect to play?

changing game parameters mid-game

Pretty sure it's not possible to change the number of boards once started, or number of rounds. -
Which registered player is off-line?
kenjay replied to pgoddard's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
If the “score has been adjusted” message disappears quickly then the software has intervened and adjusted the score, therefore, no need for me to be bothered about it, unless a player believes it incorrect. It will remain on the screen until the director manually adjusts.
