  1. I would double....as they say, if you are always successful when you double, you're not doubling enough..... Lead A or K ♦ (to show partner I have the other). Upon seeing dummy, possibly collect second diamond winner before switch to partners suit. Which spade honor's dummy has will determine how I play the trump suit...
  2. For those that pass the 1NT, what is west's opening lead? A Q♠ lead looks automatic, and results in down 2. How can west figure out to go after the minors first? I see that if they start on the minors, EW can set 1NT by 4 tricks, sqeezing south in both minors. If south keeps all hearts, then the K is trapped and the hand could be set 6 or 7. Clubs by north makes 4. What was your result Echognome?????
  3. Pass. Being on lead and leading the Q♠, you have him down 1 automatically and might be able to run the spades and/or clubs to take him down even more. Take the sure plus score vs the risk of opponents bailing out to something better or your pair getting into trouble.
  4. How about : 1♣ - X - P - 1♠ P - 2♥ - P - 2♠ P - 3♦ ....? (new suit forcing) Then partner can either bid his spade suit again or 3 ♥s to show that he has two cards support or 4♥ with three cards support.
  5. How about responding 3NT?....make opponents guess which major suit partner is weak in (if any). Partner could be 4-4-3-2, but is likely 4-3-4-2 or 3-4-4-2. And if the club suit is runnable, then you would only need one trick from partner.
  6. Playing second negatives, I would expect partner to have the Queen of his suit. For bypassing the second negative bid means that he had some points. As to final contract, the question is 6 vs. 7 and H's vs NT..... NT is scary because after they get off to the minor suit lead, their king in that suit is good. In addition, the singleton and Ax doubleton in my hand..... Thus, ♥'s look better....
  7. [hv=d=e&s=sakq108xhakjxdxcax]133|100|Scoring: MP In second session of continuous pairs in regional last week, I decided to open 2♣ strong. Partner bid 2♦ waiting, I bid my ♠s, and partner responds 3♥. Next I go into RKC and find out we have all 5 key cards and are missing both minor suit kings. So after the 6♣ response to 5NT, which slam do you bid?[/hv]
