AVG found a Malware Program on 7/2/2013 on my computer: ie4uinit.exe Full path: C:\Windows\System32\ie4uinit.exe Details: 1 process terminated 3 files deleted 4 registry keys deleted Files Deleted: Web Slice Gallery.url IEFRAME.DLL IE4UINIT.EXE All 4 Registry keys deleted. I can list them if you need them. I am thinking that the DLL file is critical and I may need a new driver. Since 7/2, I cannot enter BBO via the downloaded program. I get in and the players in the lobby load, then Message Block pops up with: NetBridgeVu.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Since Windows does not offer a solution, I decided to write to you :D I uninstalled the program and downloaded it again and opened it and same thing happened. Can BBO programmers offer suggestion? I much prefer the downloaded program to the web based variety. Thanks so much! fifee

awesome hand with hearts

2H is my preference but find double acceptable as well. -
Yes..the colors look right for 4♥ Not any day and a half that I have seen. 4♥ naturally.
-
It also has three aces and two 109s. I'd probably upgrade this. no upgrade for flat 4333 for me. 1D

1♥ then rebid 3♣. This hand is not worth a 2♣ opening.

Why can't the ACBL join the world in allowing multi and other banned conventions? Does anyone from the ACBL read these posts and pass the along the wishes of the multitude?

Have you seen the price of gold and platinum lately?

No capital punishment Period. I am optimistically thinking that we have evolved beyond these barbaric customs, but I am still waiting for rehabilitation to be the main focus of the prison system and the courts. We no sooner build a new prison than it is full and we are needing more. What's wrong with this picture? I think we should use whatever we have in our arsenal and start asap to - educate, rehabilitate, de-program, re-program or whatever it takes. We had had many "leaders" who have shown us how easy this can be for a determined person. Some may never make it back into society but unless we make a bigger effort to begin to rehabilitate criminals, we will just need to continue building more jails. P

For me, this negative double says nothing about ♦s, only that I have 4 ♠s and 6 or more points - or I might have a shapely 4 or 5 with 4 ♠s and a ♣ fit. Depends upon agreements, 2!D could be a reverse. What will you do with the same hand without the ♦ King? Rebid 2♣? Some at bbo are opening 1♦ with a minimum 1345 and rebidding 2♣ which lies about shape and makes it harder to find the right minor suit slam at times. This would alleviate our problem with this hand though, we count this as a reverse now.

With 4 controls, partner has 2 aces. What we need to find is the Queen situation for 7NT. Does partner have any Queens at all? There are methods to ask about suits after a 2♣ opener and step response. Perhaps you had this in your repertoire? If not, simplest might be to set ♣s as trump and ask RKC. If no Q, then bid 5!S looking for other Queens since continuing guaranteed all other keys.

We will come closer to setting this if partner has a better opening hand.

Overheard an old bridge pro once say, "I have to drive because I am too drunk to walk." -
I like 2♠. If opps have bid 2 suits, then cuebidding one of them would show a stopper in the suit that I cued and interest in game for me. Qx is not the best trump support but how many times do we have the textbook hand for a specific bid?

Well stated, Csaba  My thoughts, too.

Using Firefox browser seems to cause translation problems ! :P

South 75% yes he should neg x North 25% I would reopen with a double. I open 99% of all hands with a double if short in the overcall suit. Now we have a strong indication that the opp are in a 9 card d fit and should not be allowed to play at the law level when we might bid 3s. I agree with re-opening double. If partner has ♥s, he will have made a negative double. If he has opponent's suit, he may likely have passed. Playing negative doubles, this is automatic for me. I agree 100% with negative double with this hand and with the Robson/Segal hand.

This hand rates to be a constructive raise for me. The stiff ♣ definitely puts the hand into the "constructive range." For me 2♠ would show 3 card support and shape and very few points or 4-6 dummy points balanced and support. Personally, I am not married to 4♠. The stiff ♣ is great but my trumps are not and the ♥Q9x is not quite enough to accept imho.

Great job in Shanghai, Zmud !! This is a marvelous video and so were all the rest of the videos that I saw from Shanghai. So nice to get a glimpse at the human side of the venue. Please keep up the good work. Any other videos to share?

You are a representative of your federation. When you win the trials you do not automatically get to go, you have to be approved by your federation to go. They then pay at least some of your bills. Regardless of how you feel about your federation you are still representing them, they are still doing you some favors, and you have to play by their rules. Let's put it in another perspective. What would you think if a USA team won an Olympic medal and on the podium, held up this sign. Completely inappropriate for me and the same for a World Bridge Federation sponsored World Championship. I certainly sympathize with this team and the motivation behind the sign. They had probably discussed politics with many over the past weeks and felt compelled to do what they did. I think the best solution is for the organizations who sponsor these events to simply put in place directives that their podium will not be used as a political forum. Patricia Anderson

I don't know Pat Henderson, but Roland could be referring to me. I have been called everything from Pat Henderson to Pam Anderson, the latter many times at bbo - mostly by males who were probably daydreaming. Warm regards from Patricia Anderson, definitely female :) I think its easy to tell male from female even if you don't see pictures. The dynamic is the key.

great idea !

Pass is clear. Especially since you know partner is balanced and so are you.
