Go to: https://www.bridgeba...p?&from_login=0 Enter your username where it says: Enter username. change the dates and interval to get the period you are looking for. click get hands you will get to a page that looks like this: Main Bridge Club hands Tourney hands Team Match hands Hands played by DJNeill since 2021-11-18 00:00:00 to 2021-11-20 00:00:00 2021-11-19 Nº Time North South East West Result Points Score Movie Traveller 1 09:17 djneill joshs Anneket Longsilver 3♥N-1 -50 2.07 Movie or Lin Traveller 2 09:22 djneill joshs Anneket Longsilver 4♥S+1 650 6.27 Movie or Lin Traveller You can copy the data you want by selecting it and Cntrl/cmnd copy and then paste it anywhere you want (eg a spreadsheet. You may be right. it must be an inadequacy of Ora sweet syrup that makes me overly optimistic and causes me to lose at Bridge.
-
The flavourings are the same, but one has acetaminophen and the other has "Avicel Microcrystalline powder (100 mg/ml)" whatever that is. I suspect that the sweet syrup overwhelms the (to me) unpleasant taste of crushed acetaminophen. the "Avicel powder" is presumably an inert white powder that looks a bit like crushed acetaminophen. But yes, like you, I take these kinds of studies with a grain of Avicel.
-
The bottom line of this study is that taking acetaminophen/Tylenol (paracetamol in Australia) causes optimism. The students (it's always students in psychology experiments) that took the Tylenol were more prepared to take greater risks. One obvious concern is that if Tylenol relieves discomfort does this simply mean that a person is more likely to take risks if they are not experiencing pain. "affective reactivity to positively valenced" - I think affective reactivity is code for how it made them feel. positive=good. valence=enjoyableness. So I think it means "doing X makes me feel good as opposed to doing Y" - My valence reacted positively when I bid and made 6♠ but my "affect" reacted negatively when I saw that everyone else made 7.

BridgeMaster level 2 A-24
pilowsky replied to AL78's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
This problem is a flaw/feature of tournament Bridge. Suppose you face the (not uncommon) situation where you can guarantee making a risky contract but will not have the opportunity to make an overtrick. You will surely get a bad result for two reasons: 1. Someone will take the risk and pat themselves on the back for being "clever" and having "good judgement". 2. At some boards, the opponents will make an error so that overtricks are unavoidable. The "good judgement" I'm talking about is similar to the "Right Stuff" in Tom Wolfe's book about the test pilots. The pilot takes a flimsy aluminium tube with a rocket on the back as high into the air as possible. He (always a "he") then attempts to move the tube on a rocket into more and more dangerous configurations. If he survives, he's brilliant, brave and skilful. If he fails, he doesn't have the right stuff. -
much the same as the robot auction I guess.

Grave indeed.

All the "seats" were occupied by humans. I was playing with a regular partner - we play a butchered version of so-called "Standard" with very few gadgets. I would have preferred 2♣ game-forcing, but that isn't what we play. At the time that I bid 4NT I was in two minds. My holding did not pass the test for a certain slam if my partner had a minimal holding - which he did. FWIW, I just gave the hand to GIB (basic I think) on a bidding table and the bidding went - 1♠-2♣-2♠-3♠-4♠--- My over-reliance on Aces and Q of Trumps is now appropriately attenuated. I just put the North/South holding into playbridge.com and generated 64 hands with a random holding for EW: not a single slam amongst them - many only making 3S. Here is a summary of the Traveller - none of the pairs included a robot.

I couldn't decide how I felt. Sometimes I wonder if people are unable to comprehend the difference between movie/television/video games and reality, The defence attorney and the Judge seemed as Loius Gohmert as the defendant; this does not leave me with much hope for life on Earth. Is it possible that Forrest Gump was a documentary?

Are there any lawyers here? I just watched a bit of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. Day 7, Part 2. The prosecutor is about to show some drone footage and points out that the operator uses the "pinch and zoom" capability on the Ipad. All hell breaks loose because the defence attorney states that (~1:04:48). The Judge agrees that this is a valid proposition and that the prosecution needs to find an expert to testify that the zoom feature simply enlarges the original image without affecting what was already there.

Auto Score Adjustment in Clocked Tournament?
pilowsky replied to criptik's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
The idea that an adjudicator can work out the result is problematic because it assumes that the players would suddenly develop the ability to play double-dummy if there was more time. Or that they will all suddenly have the same skill level as the person adjusting. Adjudication is a completely different skill from directing. sfi is a skilled player and Director and may be able to do both well. Someone like me may be able to become a Director (I was asked to become one after playing for about a year) but asking me to adjudicate would be unfair. Yet another reason why the slowest pair should get 40% or -3 IMP's. This form of adjustment is the minimally fair and reasonable way to deal with adjustment in a timed game. It accounts for the fact that in a mind game, skill is a function of available time. Adjustments can be made where the Director sees that the slower pair is attempting to game the clock, where the other pair has managed to find a high scoring contract or the time-wasters have blundered in a cold win. Because internet-based games can accurately record time and moves, penalties for gaming the system are much easier to detect and punish. -
Opener's Reverse after 2/1 GF response
pilowsky replied to profhsg's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
A quantum Bridge player might suggest that it's because the bidding of a stronger colour is stranger and more likely to succeed and make game. As opposed to the bidding of a weaker suit, which is not strange and more likely to deteriorate if you do end up in a game contract. -

He pandered to people's insecurity about having a job and protecting themselves from sickness and violent crime. "It's the economy stupid" WJ Clinton (I think). Pre-pandemic (Trump's Iran hostage rescue debacle) Trump's pandering would have seen him easily beat off any candidate. The results of the polling seem to show that Americans are in a constant state of fear - about everything. Nothing in the polling points to anything aspirational. Trump just played on that fear a la the Apprentice and it paid off handsomely. I don't like it because things that happen in America affect the whole world. Also, we have our own Trump running Australia - they're a plague.

So long as it comes with leather upholstery, a cocktail cabinet and has a little metal statue on top, who cares if it works or not.

Bridge world discover homographs. And no, that isn't something that displays data for members of the LGBQTIA2S+ community. -
The reasons that Americans vote (or don't vote) have very little to do with racism or sexism. It's a mistake to talk about sexism or critical race theory if you want someone to vote for you. Here is of the main things that concerned Americans in April this year. Here is the list of topics they asked Americans to label as important to not important - I randomised them - see if you can rearrange them in the correct order from most important to least (See the spoiler for the right order). When you finish, compare the result to the Pew findings. This is the reason Trump got more votes than any previous President twice - and it has nothing to do with an explosion in the population.
