  1. Thrippsy Misho, Inky tinky 1NT pobblebockle 2 over 1 abblesquabs Precision? ?- Flosky! Beebul trimble flosky 5322, osobenly okul Vul ! ?- Okul scratchabibblebongibo X, viddle squibble tog-a-tog XX, ferrymoyassity amsky flamsky ramsky damsky crocklefether squiggs DOWN 7??? Flinkywisty pomm ♥, Slushypipp (aka Lexica) P.S. The above is recognisably English, isn't it? There's just one Bulgarian word thrown in, cos I don't remember the English equivalent - but it should be no problem for speakers of English to find it :)
  2. Provided I am lucky enough to find someone to learn and play it - is it a nice toy? http://www.bridgeguys.com/LittleKnown/KamikazeNoTrump.html How many out there play it? Are there similar restrictions on BBO, or is it OK as long as you alert properly? Thanks :) Elena
  3. Sounds like you are frustrated, Flame, and don't get me wrong - I empathise with that. I started a thread in a similar mood. However, reading such suggestions (I would call them need for "emotional patches" for the software) and having cooled off a bit, since this is my 4th day of "invisible strike", I think that no software can possibly prevent or make up for some failing/deficiency, you name it that is exclusively human. Maybe if it were possible to implement some automatic reminder system, like you get a message 10 or so minutes before tourney, the people you play with will have no excuse for disappearing without warning. But even now - there are players who warn you without reminders, and others who will fail to do so anyway. Let's go get a beer and cool down :D
  4. Thanks for the suggestion, Csdenmark - I certainly will do so when I get to comment the next Bermuda! :)) And I am sure Uday will be happy to have split-personality ID's double the size of his database... Until then, however, I was wondering if it would be too great a hassle adding a second tick box under the BRB box on the user's profile - very much similar to BRB, too, in that it would display the DND instead of BRB and a message to the sender "User is not able to receive private messages at the moment" or smth along those lines. I give up on the Britney Spears and the neon nick tag... For the time being, anyway... Wouldn't be bringing it up at all if I didn't think it's not just my problem tho.
  5. Doesn't help when you are playing while BRB. Great function but don't think it solves the problem at hand. Well... Actually what gave me the courage to write about it was when a couple of days ago a fellow invisible kib at a teaching session missent this to table chat: xxxxxx: but please listen to this carefully - i dont learn because i am always talking to people , that is why im invisible Tested it today. There are some problems with it, however: 1) Disabling all chat doesn't display in any way - eg. in the profile, on the Lobby tag etc. 2) People sending the messages get no notification that the message isn't delivered. Unleash your imagination... 3) Minor problem but still - outbound messages get through but are not registered in the chat window. 4) Disabling all chat beats the purpose in case you just want to stop private messages; that would disable table talk (if playing), vugraph commentary or lecture text. I do think it would be friendlier if people can see right away that someone is in DND and not waste bandwidth trying to contact him/her.
  6. Would be nice to have a 'DND' button (DO NOT DISTURB), preferably in some bright repelling colour, which shows in Lobby on your own nick-tag, and which 1) stops inbound messages; 2) politely informs the sender that the message will not be delivered until the person is back to non-DND mode; 3) nice sound track, from, say, Apocalypse Now B) Pet-peeve Britney Spears would do nicely for repeated offenders; 4) prevents you from being vacuumed into a Teams' Match you didn't know exists. Would be handy when playing, or attending a lesson, or flirting with your favourite partner.
  7. Thanks, Misho - would you like to be my teacher? :) On a more serious note - apart from the playing, aren't there really no areas where GIB might come in useful?
  8. Does anyone have ideas how best to use GIB as a teaching aid on your own? I love it - learning bidding, playing random hands, playing restricted hands, playing all sorts of championships' hands, proofing hands (enter deals and see ow GIB does)... It's fascinating! But, a more structured approach could be better, I am abs sure. So what is your experience, folks? P.S. Title refers to a Russian gem of a book - the slogan "The salvation of the drowning is the drowning's own problem" was displayed on the wall of a Baywatch-type institution
  9. Thumbs up to your suggestion! But it refers to a normal situation. Unless I misunderstood, doofik is referring to people she describes in the "Unwanted kibz" thread. I am not sure I agree with her methods (see the other thread) but without knowing any further details, I think polite blackmail is the way to go. Just 2 cents.
  10. 1. POLITELY ask them to leave; I don't think you owe the kibs any reason to do so but it might be a good idea to inform p and opps since the kibs might be wanting to kib the opps and not you. 2. If the kib refuses to do so, stop playing and POLITELY repeat your request making it clear that you refuse to play until they do so. 3. If it doesn't help - leave immediately. I would leave after the hand. Start a kib disallowed table. Report to yellows. But it's not an end-of-the-world top-of-the-message-board kind of problem I think... P.S. Edited the typos
  11. Do you know if any of the problems you reported happen when both partners have new clients? Fred Gitelman Bridge Base Inc. www.bridgebase.com Tested with a new-client partner; none of the bugs [pass-out or weird bids] occurred; still, when alerting opps' bidding we ddin't manage to get the alert explained [fuction button for entering explanation was locked]. Would be great if a non-playing host could do the opps' bidding - s/he'd be in a better position to imagine some sane alternatives! :)
  12. partnership area: Opp's bids are alertable in as much that the bid comes grayed out but i couldn't manage to type in the explanatory note. No bugs in the library, vugraph archive etc - except: is it possible to save the lectures, articles and DOWs locally on my hard drive?
  13. Sorry, inaccuracy - hands in the bidding get passed out OCCASIONALLY when the opps' bidding is set to either "programmed", or "host-controlled", without me getting a bidding box - the rate seemed about 1 in 5, not all the time as the statement seemed to imply....
  14. Hi :( Have only tried the annotation features, the partnership bidding features and the private club application features so far. Before the problems - THE ANNOTATION FEATURES ARE TERRIFIC THNX ;) :o :( Even if u don't fix the bugs, will keep it cos of the annotation features! The annotated movies can be opened by the older version - which is also great! Fantastic improvement over having to open the lin files in notepad and adding all the pipes and tags manually! Problems so far in the bidding room [btw, i was host, my partner was usiing the older version, tho - could it be important?]: 1. hands in bidding get passed out when the settings for opps bidding is either "programmed", or "host-controlled" 2. I was host as South, could enter West's bids, but couldn't enter East's - maybe i messed the settings? 3. The system took over me and doubled my partner's bid [not a bad idea, too!] but unfortunately couldn't save the bidding movie! Settings were host-controlled bidding. Private club application was a song. Is there a way for us to keep logs of what is happening so that it's easier for u to fix the bugs? THNX again, guys!
