  1. Ι 've requested from BBO to add a property 'system(s)' . In addition to email, name , other etc. And, ability to sort by that property or show only players playing X systems.
  2. I am trying to collect some players that play or want to learn precision in order to run a private (or public) club and to organize tournaments... what do you think of my idea ?
  3. I 'd suggest this: How many users exist on bbo ? X. Let X/10 of them be experts , X/5 of them advanced, X/2 of them intermediate, and the rest unclassified. Do you score X% in a tournament? Your score is adjusted and your level is increased or decreased depending on other users' level. Also, ppl may choose to run tournaments that do not modify their rating in case they don't want to play for it.
  4. Skill level should be set by BBO server depending on how many free tournaments you win or lose. The rest is pointless. If you leave a user specify his own level, most times he would lie.
  5. Ok, good to have a 'relaxed' so beginners can play. But in my opinion, putting a 'masters' club is bad. Almost all people will play in this club, leaving the 'main' club empty. The same has happened to MSN zone long ago, they created the 'Expert IMP rooms' and none would join the Advanced rooms. M.
  6. Please do put an option to specify user systems in a menu. This will allow a right click 'find a SAYC partner' for example. Make it multiple. So I can select sayc,2/1,precision, and therefore if someone wants to find a player that plays 2/1, im in the list. Also, make it within a combobox so a player can add another user-defined system, or a non already existing one. Regards.
  7. Hi. Some suggestions for the already excellent software piece: 1. All informative messages like 'command completed' , 'score adjusted' , 'registration succeeded' shouldn't be displayed as dialog boxes, because there can be too many dialogs. Better put them all as messages in the chat window so the player isn't forced to click on 'OK' 2. Chat should support UTF-8 3. For Tournament Directors, there should be an external window that will allow the TD to monitor the tournament (state, groups, subs, adjust score) without needing to press a key. For example, I 'd like to constantly see the status, but I have to go to 'Show tournament status' (3 button clicks). Put in the dialog only the things that are done once (like hand upload or rule upload) , and let the common ones outside in a menu. 4. For Tournament Directors, all requests should be displayed in a queue. For example, I might be called in 2 tables at the same time. I will go to the first, and then forget who called me last. Put all the calls in the same window I mentioned in #2, in a priority list and avoid the popup windows. 5.When playing somewhere, the client doesn't need to get updated of the other tables. Limit the traffic by not sending table/other tournament/etc data to a player that is playing in a table/tournament. 6.Allow a 'dumb' version of GIB (e.g. the one that only things 1 second before it plays) for free, and have the expert play for $s. This will allow someone to play with a bad bot for free, just for trying the game. Or at least, do that in teaching tables so pairs may practise their card play. Thats all till now :( Michael (precision0)
  8. With TB, you get to learn any system , no matter how complex, by using it. It has the great advantage that you can test a system without even knowning a single line of it Michael - your ID indicates you know precision. If so then you also knows quite well that above text makes no sense. It can help you to remember, it can help you learn special parts. The system - the theory - the meaning and general construction you cannot grab from files alone. You will soon need to realize, just as I have needed to accept, bridge players are not curious. Simple bridge is sufficient for most players. Routine is what matters not personal challenge. You will soon be disappointed that most players only enjoy their personal interpretations and assume partners interpretations as strange or maybe even wrong. After introduction of FD I think you need to explain the advantages of TB compared to FD. I don't insist on the fact that any system will be 100% usable without immersing into its logic. If you think that bridge players are not curious, I might agree, but some really are, and explore various systems. For these people I am trying to create something that will allow system evaluation in a very short time. Take, for example, one of the most sofisticated system out there. In order to try how effective it might be, you need to learn it and play it. This requires time. It will surely help if you have it in a XML form, in order to evaluate it in a very short time and decide if it is worth learning it. I do not believe that TB will replace the human brain of course, but as far as I have test ed myself, It has already helped me in learning the internal structures of a system. Regards,Michael
  9. I 've implemented a system that can bid any bidding system, complex or not. Details and replies @ http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=13471
  10. Hi. My project is to make a tool that could bid any system based on directions in a XML file, no matter how complex a system might be. Currently I 've implemented a few systems, like sayc,2/1,precision into it. In any XML file there are conditions and decisions that must be true before the program makes a bid. It works well with highly structured systems. Features: 1. Training in opening bids/responses at any level 2. Bid the whole hand at once 3. Bid the hand interactively with your partner over TCP With TB, you get to learn any system , no matter how complex, by using it. It has the great advantage that you can test a system without even knowning a single line of it. Take a look at the project's homepage, http://www.turboirc.com/tb The final point is to implement every system into it as XML, and encourage all system creators to export their system in the required XML format in order to be visible/biddable in TB. Anyone that is interested in beta testing, contact me:) Regards, Michael , or precision0 in bbo.
  11. Hi there, I sometimes run tournaments using predealt hands for educational purposes. For example, last time I ran a tournament with a set of 8 boards to be played in 3NT, with various issues required to make the hand. But the majority of the players bid and either didn't reach the 3NT contract, or they even bid higher. Wouldn't it be nice if I could make the bidding 'sticky' as the hands ? Regards, precision0
