A friend of mine gets "Registration failed. You are too new to BBO to enter this tournament". His account is more than 1 year old and more than 40 logins. I looked for the tournament info (About section), there was nothing about eligibility for the tournament. Where could I find the constraints?

Thanks for the reply, I will give my feedback here. 1. (Glorious) Reward tournament is a great idea. Make this BB$ circulating! 2. Make the rules transparent (there is the "About" button for every tournament). 3. The most important detail is the "price pool percentage". Either 60% (BB$10..BB$5), 80% (BB$15..BB$5) or 68% (BB$15..BB$1). 4. The number of prices (40% of participants) is not important (10%..60% is all reasonable). 5. The smallest positive prize might well be BB$0.01. A $5 drop from place 123 to place 124 feels like we are competing for the 123th place, not the 1st place. It would be nice to add some concavity to the reward function (just like the BBO points -- the drop from 1st place to 2nd place should be greater than the drop from 101st to 102nd).

User BBO is organizing lots of tournaments. However, it seems that the trending practice is not to provide full information on the details on the conditions of the contest. BBO, we are aiming at full disclosure when organizing tournaments just like when we are explaining our bidding and carding methods. This applies to Glorious Daylong. Two contests have been held. And the prize pools is 60% and 80% respecively. Is it safe to assume that the next contest has a prize pool of 100%? 1. If I click "About", I want to see the details of the Reward. Please clarify. 2. Also, please turn on commenting again. Or clarify, what is the proper place to ask questions. 3. The host of the tournament ("BBO") might also have a profile, so that we can message him to ask for details.

Currently BBO is trying to refresh itself in method onNavDivHidden. This happens after logout → page is refreshed. This happens if I change my page from Landscape to Portrait (moving to 1 column layout) → popup appears (do you want to reload) → After clicking reload, I am logged out and page is reloaded. I am not sure if this is a bug. Or this is really the intention of programmers.

There was a workaround: 1. Use Developer Tools (F12) 2. Select the "Eye" element from html 3. Delete it. But with a new release page is refreshed after logout, and the element is reloaded again. Hack-hack-hack. Why do we need a reload after logout? It seems we need some adblock rule to disable unwanted buttons on the login screen.

Magic happened. This bug is not reproducing anymore. No idea, what was wrong before.

I don't click anywhere. I press enter. This makes my password visible AND does the login. For full reproduction see my original post.

Creating a bookmark: 1. Replace "bbstar" with your username "morecharac". 2. Copy the stuff (starting with "javascript", ending with the braces). 3. Create a bookmark in browser. 3a. Title: bbo cookies 3b. Url: Paste whatever you copied.

Solution for the problem Create a bookmark with a following content: javascript:(["bbstar","you_other_username"].forEach(userID=>{localStorage[userID+"_general_animate"]="n";localStorage[userID+"_general_sound"]="n";localStorage[userID+"_keyboard_entry"]="y";})) This will disable animations and sound, and enable keyboard entry. Make sure to use your own username. Add/remove the settings if necessary. Testing: 1. Make sure to reset the settings in bbo. 2. Close browser (or bbo tab). 3. Open BBO tab. 4. Click the bookmark 5. Login to BBO 6. Voila, the settings are updated.

1. I register as substitute for a tourney or team match. 2. I am offered to play with person X with skill level Y. 3. I accept and start playing. And then I realise that person X is on my ignore list. I find this annoying. There are several ways to resolve the situation. Either: do not allow proposals from ignores. Another: show partner's profile at step 2. Alternative: add the relation of friend/normal/ignore at step 2.

I wanted to click +1, but forum responds me "I have reached your quota of positive votes for the day". So I just reply with +1. Using keyboard could be much more fluent. Thanks!

This is what happened. 1. I am South, the host, the dummy. 2. East loses connection and is replaced with a robot. 3. I "Remove and reserve" East player. 4. After some time East is back. 5. Meanwhile it is dummy's turn to play a forth card into a trick. (S, W, E agree). 6. North says he does not see East's card, and it is East turn to play. Looks like some kind of a BBO Bug I don't know exactly the time the last cards were played or if the East card was played by a robot or not.

Current BBO uses same layout for mobile and web browsers. If I use a 20'+ monitor, and a mouse, there is plenty of room. 1. The cards can be smaller to free up some room. 2. The bidding preview should not hide any cards. This applies to vugraph, daylongs, normal play. 3. The bidding preview should be easier to close. 4. The alerts of vugraph should not hide any cards. Again: In some cases the explanation is simply ".". 5. The previously played cards should be visible trick-by-trick (eg show cards on 1-st trick immediately). If I join vugraph in the middle of the game, there is no easy way to see how the play has gone. (Currently the only option is to navigate backwards, and see the pointless animation in which order the cards were played. Not so useful, as would like to see the replay in the forward direction.) 6. If someone else is claiming, please make the claim message more useful. 7. Do not hide the tricks currently won and lost, if the claim message appears. 8. Make it easier to navigate to user profile (at the table). Currently two options: left-click + profile. Right-click + profile. Unneccessary duplication. 9. To close the profile, I need to press "X". To close the bidding, I have to click on the contract (!). To close the previous trick, I have to click on the number of tricks (!). Some menus will close, if I click somewhere else on the table. Make it more intuitive by using same method everywhere. 10. "Undo", "View double dummy", "Show bidding on other table (vugraph)" could be 1-click actions. There is enough room on the screen for simple buttons. Sorry for posting all the ideas in a single thread. Designing a usable UI is never an easy task. Good luck!

If I play a game and accidentally view other Open apps bbo logs out immediately. Even in a robot table. It should not logouts. Just like when i am idle or watching vugraph.

Yes, the use of FD Convention Cards is deprecated. Once in a while I happen to play with a partner with whom I have a FD CC. I make a bid, I see a wrong explanation from CC. This is confusing to say the least. I would like to update the CC, but this is not supported. If I go My BBO > Convention Cards, I am still unable to edit the CC. The templated CC make things worse. Why provide uncustomizable CC, which have non-functional Edit button. Either A) Fix the Edit button; B) Remove deprecated stuff.

The support of convention cards is deprecated. As far as I remember some 5-10 years ago it was possible to modify conventsion cards. Not any more. Currently it is possible to use some standard system templates, but it is not possible to modify them. Most pairs have *some* tweaks in opening style / competitive bidding / defensive carding. Hence using standard CC is misleading.

For some unknown reason my BBO screen froze in the middle of play. Symptoms: I am unable to click buttons/cards/anything. I did hear that it is my turn, but I am unable to move with my mouse. I guess keyboard was inactive too. I can hear that someone sends a private message, but I don't see the message itself. After about 120 minutes i tried to resize browser window. This fixed the display. I was not at the table any more. I saw the private messages. I was able to continue.

I guess if you only enter first two rounds of RM, you already save quite a lot of explanations. Full Disclosure is not necessary precondidtion, but would be a useful side-effect, if the pair plays on vugraph and more situations come up, and they could be updated to the convention card.

Context: Meckstroth-Rodwell (or pick any other World class pair) are playing on a vugraph. Countless times I see them opening 1♦. Countless times i see vugraph operator/commentator writing alert "1♦=(10)11-15, 2+♦" or similar in chat area or in bid explanation area. Problem: Is it possible to automate these standard explanations? Possible solution: BBO has implemented a convention card feature, which automatically writes alerts. AFAIK it only works on playing tables. Maybe enable similar feature on vugraph tables too? Of course systems evolve, and these convention cards should be editable somehow. But it seems the total work would be less, and more effective than now.

I think newsfeed was a great idea to allow TDs to advertise the upcoming tournaments, announce the results to all members (even if not playing in the tourney) etc. Recently all the posts to the newsfeed were deleted. Currently users can post new news, but they only show up in users own feed; And the posts are deleted after logout. What is the purpose of allowing to post news? What are BBO plans with newsfeed?
