This feature is implemented if the kibitzer, who has seen at least one, and likely all, the players' hands, takes an empty seat at the table. This is probably what happened in the case you described above, and may have happened so quickly that you were not aware of it. (I see this occasionally when I have to boot a non-responsive player; sometimes the seat is filled so quickly it looks as if someone else was waiting for the seat.) Kibitzers will never be playing at a vugraph table, so your concern there is unfounded.

While we are on the subject, is BBO Flash capable of altering the cursor to look like that resize button, an equals sign with two arrows pointing up and down? That happened to me this evening, and I have no idea how it occurred, since I never resized any parts of the screen while online. When I moved the cursor out of the BBO window (Firefox 3.6.8, Flash 10.1.82.76), onto my desktop (Intel iMac 10.6.4) it looked normal again, but when I moved it back, wherever it was in the BBO browser window, it looked as described above. I had to log off and log back on again to fix it.

In V36, Fred introduced one minor new feature: 6. If the user is typing a chat message that extends beyond the end of the input area, the input area will grow in the vertical direction. While I appreciate the increased window size for my long chat messages, I cannot see the last line of chat when I invoke the feature, and occasionally I have found it might be nice to see that last line as the conversation continues. I have no idea if this is possible at all, not knowing the nuances of the programming involved, but could the chat log window be made slightly smaller when the increased window size is invoked during the typing of a chat message? That way the chatter can still see the last line of chat, likely the one being responded to, and also see any other responses that come in as the chatter as typing.

At what point does one get sucked in, shall we say, with B5? I had the first season on DVD, but despite my efforts and everything I heard, about halfway through the season I was not interested enough to continue. Firefly is a wonderful show, and it's our loss that only 14 episodes were made. Having said that, I'm a Trekker to the core, so my list of ships has the original Enterprise and the Defiant on it. The most interesting ship in the unofficial Star Trek universe might be the Titan, but since it only exists in a few books, it probably does not qualify.

1. No as well. 2. From what I recall, I could not even get the card I wished to play to turn gray, showing it could be played (and it was at the end of my hand, so my cursor was definitely over that card), let alone yellow, which I see on the Mac when I click on the card but keep the mouse button held down. I haven't seen the behavior since my last posting, but am paying very close attention to the cards I play. Wonder if doing so will help my game any. :)

The same thing just happened to me in a regular (BBOTurkiye) tourney. I was trying to play the 7♣ from JT7, and through two rounds of the suit, I could not play it. No big deal, in this particular hand, but along those lines, I may have gotten lucky.

Are messages sent within clubs getting a wider reach in V37? I have observed a few such messages, sent to clubs I may belong to, but am not in at those points in time, and another club user noted this behavior.

You may simply have the Small lobby font (click on the Options button) not clicked. Click on it and I think you will see things in the font you are used to seeing. (I installed Windows 7 on my laptop this week.)

As long as the mouse for a Mac is configured for right clicking (System Preferences -> Mouse -> Secondary Click checked for Right), the right click will work the same way as Rain describes on a Mac.

The improved card animation is a really nice enhancement; I tried a Money Bridge tourney with the Web client, and the play of the hands went much faster than it has done so before.

Fred, I went to the registration page for one of jillybean's short tourneys (which she handles very nicely, by the way). She had set a limit of 40 people, and the limit had been reached. However, she raised the limit three times (to 60, then 80, then 100), but the BBOFLASH client did not register the raise. So BBOFLASH did not allow me (or, presumably, anyone else using BBOFLASH; I subbed in later, so I believe it wasn't just me...) to register for the tourney at any of those iterations. While I'm posting, may I ask if there's any way to display the entire hand in the main window once the hand is completed? I know it's displayed in the small window on the right side of the browser, but it seems more aesthetically pleasing to display the entire hand at the end, as is the case in BBOWin. I didn't have the time to get a screen shot, but it's really a minor bug. I was defending 3NT, and we had taken the first two tricks, but weren't getting any more. At the end of trick 9, declarer claimed the rest of the tricks, but the little box in the lower left corner said "12 tricks for declarer". I don't know if registering the claim at the end of the trick was the problem, and I imagine 11 tricks would have been recorded, but I rejected the claim to be safe (guess bridge won out over bug testing). I know it's obscure, and minor, but figured it was worth noting if nothing else. (Safari v 3.2.1 running on Mac OS v 10.4.11, for completeness sake.) Rich heyrocky on BBO

All, I don't know if this is a BBOFlash issue, but this happened to me a second time this morning. I'm on an Intel Mac running Tiger, playing BridgeBase via Firefox. I think I won the tourney (money was deposited into my account), but BBO displayed something a little different. I can't figure out how to put a file screen shot in this post (help with that welcomed, too), so it has been mailed to fred@bridgebase.com, but the Flash results of the tourney claim the "winner" has 3.25 IMPs, as does second place, and then players are grouped by twos, with scores in mostly negative multiples of 0.25. This has happened to me once before, playing Sky Club #926 one week ago, 8/9/08, at the same time as this tourney, and odd scores were posted. I can send you a screen shot for that tourney if you like. - Rich (heyrocky on BBO)

I've been playing consistently with BBOFLASH for the last three weeks. Some random thoughts from someone that just plays tourneys: 1. BBOFLASH would benefit from the BBOWin ability to display the player/partnership limits for tourneys. I haven't found that information anywhere on BBOFLASH. 2. In ACBL tourneys specifically, the Director button has been unavailable, in my experiences. The Director button has been available in other tourneys. 3. An amusing "feature" when playing Money Bridge tourneys occurs when your computer partner is declarer. Six tricks into the hand, the net result is posted in the My Results window, even though the hand has not yet been completed. I find it entertaining, even if it might be a tiny bug. 4. The timing from the end of a tournament to the posting of results in a separate window is sometimes slightly off ("tournament not available" error), requiring a reload. Since, conveniently, such a button is made available in the window, maybe this is a workaround. These are minor quibbles, which, under normal circumstances, I wouldn't even mention, but I like the interface so much that it deserves to be as good as possible. Again, thanks, Fred, Uday, and everyone else involved with the details of this interface! - Rich

Fred, I encountered an odd little bug this morning. I'm running BBO FLASH on a Mac running OS X 10.4.11 through Firefox 2.0.0.13, using Flash 9,0,115,0 (forgot to install the new version of Flash yesterday on the Mac). I logged in about 1000 GMT and signed up for an individual tourney (BBO LAND #1643) that started a few minutes hence. The tourney started, and I was brought to a table (the brown window), but my hand was not there. Other BBO FLASH buttons were still working, but my tourney was not visible. So I logged off, logged back on, was brought to my tourney, and could see my hand. Having said that, I've been a BBO WIN user since the beginning, and find there's a lot to like about this new version. The amount of information available through BBO FLASH regarding one's prior play is staggering, and being able to play without invoking virtual windows on the Mac (or other non-Windows operating systems) is much more convenient. The one feature in BBO WIN that I miss is being able to see the players at other tables of a tournament or team match when I am at a specific table, but I'll happily trade that for the other information enabled by BBO FLASH. Thanks! - Rich

Fred, I wish I could be this entertaining when I'm bored. It is a family game, too; I played the game with my young daughters this morning, and it's a start toward getting them to count to 13. Thanks. - Rich
