  1. No chance. If it promises a side-suit, it's no longer a multi.
  2. I don't play G/B, but surely 3C is to play opposite a minimum opening hand with 5-5 in the minors.
  3. Glad you phrased it that way round. I'd never give up opening 1NT on 22(54) and the like just to make a set of responses work.
  4. Definitely need to be able to ask for jacks. Say you work out pard's major honours early, perhaps because you have almost all the relay points. Are you ever able to bid something other than step one to skip a step or two on the relay? Eg bidding partner's singleton? Or do you need that as a sign-off?
  5. Most likely, no game makes, so I make the call most likely to lead to my defending 4H.
  6. I think my second choice is 1♠
  7. This may be true within the walls of the YC, or even within the M25, but it's certainly not true nationally. I believe that in Oxfordshire, Avon and much of Scotland, it is standard to open the minor, and I suspect they all regard this as the "modern style".
  8. Cool, that was basically what I thought, thanks
  9. You have drawn an incorrect conclusion. Bidding 1N:2N natural invite has only a small upside over a narrow range of hands. When partner rejects, you are playing a risky contract with no upside. Whether partner accepts or rejects, you have given info away [especially if your route for inviting is actually 1N:2C, 2X:2N]. This is why people wouldn't miss their invite if it wasn't available. Playing a four-point range forces you to use your invite more frequently, this is not a good thing.
  10. Thanks Michael. Jeremy69 won the teams, so a clean sweep for BBF!
  11. Wow, I'd missed that post too. An impressive number of upvotes! Thanks all. I guess the only question left is what 1H:2C, 2H:2N, 3S shows if 2H denied four spades - 3622 perhaps?
  12. Low from an odd number 3rd from an even number to an honour Highest affordable from an even number of low cards Don't remember coming across this before, feels like I should have. Good/bad/ugly?
  13. Are you interested in what the regulation-writers think the regulation says, or what they think the regulation should say? Why should either of those answers be classed as "definitive"?
  14. I probably won't be available this week, sorry.
  15. So playing Michaels and LM, how do you split the hands between the two bids? How do you play over 2S? Over here it's standard to play LM as forcing and cue as stopper ask, in which case switching 4C and 4D must be an improvement.
  16. How's this for an idea - cue = minors 4C = M+♦ 4D = M+♣ 4H over 2H = strong 4S bid
  17. Easy pass, easy plus score. Double won't get passed very often.
  18. When will partner double here with a void? 5035? It feels like most hands with a void are bidding, not doubling.

  22. Myself and Simon, Levin+partner lost by 9 last night. Simon+I played poorly, getting some tough decisions right but dropping some easy IMPs along the way. Unfortunately, this means most of the hands worth posting are ones that we got right at the table - apologies! 23. Thanks for focusing on that board B-)
