  1. It is fine now I'm in a teams match - I can click on the names that I couldn't click on before (not just messages from the same person, but the exact same message). It was fine when I was hosting a table...I got up from my seat, then left the table, then reentered the table as a kib, I guess it was triggered by something in this process
  2. I can't click on names in the chat window, even after logging off and back on.
  3. I'm not at all surprised that you have done better opening 1NT with five hearts than with five spades. A 1NT opener can bury both sides' fits, which will often lose when your suit outranks theirs and gain when the opposite is true. Also, opening 1♥ on 2533 is asking for trouble!
  4. The only problem with autoplaying the last trick(s) is when the last manually played card was a misclick, but I think it is worth this loss. Rather than autoplaying the last couple of tricks when the number of tricks taken has already been determined, I think the remaining cards should be revealed to all players for a couple of seconds, along with "declarer makes x of the last y tricks, contract making with z overtricks" or whatever.
  5. Ok, who voted for 6♣?! Come defend your viewpoint! :)
  6. 2N sounds right to me. In most auctions I'd expect doubler to choose ♣ over ♦ with equal length now, but on this one he knows I'm slightly more wary of ♦ so should bid them with equal length IMO...isn't passing the XX to play?
  7. Your hand is way too defensive to think that opps should have game if pard doesn't have much for you, so 5♣ is betting we have game pretty much. 2♣ seems obvious
  8. Interesting that DALB suggests that L-B decided to cheat on the spur of the moment.
  9. Pass both. Hate double more than I hate 2♥!
  10. Nope, a top club from AKT bare! My prayer for a blockage or a switch wasn't answered ;)
  11. I was acol weak NT for both of them as well. The first we bid 1♠:3♠, 4♠ with 3♠ a mixed raise, and I'd suggest the same auction ignoring the 2♥ bid Dave. On the 2nd, we bid 1♥:2♥, 2N:3N  ;) :( Any comments on our auction? I hated my 2NT rebid!
  12. Interesting - I don't consider these an endorsement of 12-14 NT, and I prefer 15-17 because it improves our constructive bidding!
  13. You seem to have beaten it 2 tricks for 32% of the matchpoints. Double dummy defence would take it down 4. I think this hand just shows you that declarer felt the need to play the hand...If they were indeed married, I suspect that declarer was the husband!
  14. I guess you double part-scores more often as well - doubling for one off becomes worthwhile, and opps may well have overcompeted.
  15. At MPs, I don't think there is much between them not being vul and us both being vul. Either way, 2NT is pretty much betting that we have 3NT on, and a pass is betting that we don't. I reckon its a pretty close gamble between pass and bid, I'd just about bid.
  16. Slightly different, but I quite like playing without overtricks counting. Finding safety plays feels quite good, and low level contracts can be quite interesting if they are close, but it still gives you plenty of time to practice your shuffling and dealing instead of playing!
  17. I agree Helene, I used to love weak NT for making 1m:1M, 2M promise extra values until I realised that the 3145 12 counts needed to raise and didn't have extras! When playing Acol I try not to make a single raise with only 3 trumps unless I have about 14 points, but some hands just *have* to
  18. How much extra does it cost to get him to play Acol? ;)
  19. I think it is quite common to get given a write-up of the hands. Some offer to be paid by masterpoints earned.
  20. If only your declarer play justified your agressive bidding technique...... I think your play must justify my GF and mine your limit raise Mark ;)
  21. I found the website a couple of years ago I think, no idea how long it was around for before that. I saw it being used (in the form of a 2♣ bid showing clubs and two others) for the first time yesterday.
  22. I'm forcing to game with the West hand if East opens 1♠ unless pard opens very light. Milton undervalues aces for suit play and the fourth trump could be useful.
  23. Which top partnerships are using them? I'd seen more evidence of Rainbow, Tutti-Frutti, Red Flash etc. I was told that Helgemo stopped playing Ekren 2♦ due to poor results, but IMO this is greatly inferior to the Frelling 2♦ - it gives the opps more room because it is rarely passed, it gives them more information about the hand and it is half as frequent.
  24. 26 boards sounds too long to me. Might be ok with my regular pard if it happened to start at the right time, but could be intolerable with a pick-up. I disagree on the need for a "meshed" movement - it is entirely possible to have a fair movement which doesn't involve you playing everyone, or an unfair movement that does make you face each other pair.
