That's part of lebensohl over (2M)-X-(P) but necessarily over 1N*-(2M), * some 3-point range, e.g. 15-17 where 3m = NAT GF is playable because of partner's narrow range.

order of suits in relay systems
nullve replied to steve2005's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
A major suit fit is less (more) likely after Teller has shown high (low) shortage. So it seems that 2N as high (low) shortage will wrong-side otherwise attractive notrump contracts more (less) often. -
Two-way 1♣ opening based on Scamp's (strong) 1♣ opening: 1♣ = Scamp's 1♣ OR 11-13, either 3334 or 5C(332) 1♣-1♦/♠/N/2♠+: as in Scamp 1♣-1♦; 1♠: includes all 11-13 hands 1♣-1♦; 1♠-1N; P = 11-13 1♣-1♥; 1♠-1N/2♠+: as in Scamp 1♣-1♥; 1♠-2♣/♦/♥ = Scamp's 1♣-2♣/♦/♥, resp. 1♣-1♥; 1N = 11-13 1♣-1♠; 2♣ = 11-13 1♣-1N; 2♦ = 11-13 1♣-2♣/♦/♥ = Scamp's 1♣-1♥; 1♠-2♣/♦/♥, resp. 1♣-2♣; 2♥/3♣ = 11-13, not 3325 (wants to play 3♦ rather than 2♠ opposite 4S5D) 1♣-2♣; 2♠ = 11-13, 3325 (wants to play 2♠ rather than 3♦ opposite 4S5D) 1♣-2♦; 2♠ = 11-13 1♣-2♥; 3♣ = 11-13 1♣-2N/3♣/♦; step 2 = 11-13 (Law-protected but not GF) This should leave the symmetric relay structure intact.

I made a big mess of this hand

So when do you open 1♠ with only 4? -
What's the Name of this Convention?
nullve replied to profhsg's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I've played this in one partnership. The name we (or my partner, who wrote the notes) used was 'Romex spørremeldinger' (lit. 'Romex asking bids'). -
One often has to apply the Law in situations where one doesn't know, but can only estimate, the number of total trumps. As North I would estimate total trumps to be ~ 16 on this deal.

Aargh, yes. Will edit my post.

Response to partner's opening
nullve replied to AL78's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Yes, I want to force to game opposite 15 BAL. Do I want to be in game opposite this particular 15 count: KQJ2 AJ2 832 A43? Not really. -

(5332) is balanced but not flat? (In pilun's Symmetric Relay book, flat hands have either (4333) or (4432) shape.)

Form of scoring? Did 2♣ deny three spades? 1♣-(p)-1♠-(X) 2♣-(3♥)-? Calls with their IMO default meanings: P = unable to compete (duh) X = takeout (a misnomer, since partner shouldn't take out without extra shape) 3♠/4♣ = competitive, NF (you can't afford to play these as GF, especially not at MP) 3N = strong suggestion, rarely taken out 4♦ = NAT GF (although I can imagine a pair like Brink - Drijver using the bid as SI+ with 6+ S, or maybe 4♦/♥ as SI+ w/ C SUPP/6+ S, resp.) 4♥ = GF C raise, does not promise a heart control ...4♠ = S control (although I've recenty seen a pair (Brink - Drijver again?) playing what seemed like proxy cuebids in a similar situation, so that e.g. 4♠ = control in opps' suit, hearts) ...(...) 4♠/5♣ = to play 4N = RKC(♣) (there are probably better uses, but...) 5♦/5♥ = ERKC(♣) 5♠ = NAT SI, likely no H control (the #1 reason to torture partner with this bid) 5N = pick a slam 6♣ = to play, could be a sacrfice I'd bid 4N.

WJS, SJS, Solway, "other" ?
nullve replied to jillybean's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
? DavidKok claimed that T-Walsh eliminates the need for weak jump shifts. I then gave what to me looks like a counterexample. That's all. -

Opener: 18 hcp, 1435 Responder: 3 hcp, 6232 Your T-Walsh auction? -
I agree with this. This begs the question: Are you always able to find a 6-2 spade fit after 1♦-1♠ 2♣-2♥ 3♣ ?
-
No, natural, denying doubleton support.
-
Of course she can. But 3♠ over 1♦-1♠ 2♣-2♥ 3♣ is not even close to showing a solid spade suit, because Responder might just be looking for a 6-2 spade fit. Which is unlikely to be a problem, because over 1♦-1♠ 2♣-2♥ 3♣-3♠ 3N Responder can cuebid 4♥ to set spades as trumps.

Here's a structure over 1♣-(2♠) based on lebensohl (aka Good/bad) and a very (too?) aggressive (MP-oriented?) takeout style: P = weak or trap ...X = takeout ......P = LoTT-based, mandatory with 12-17, 4333 ......2N = Good/bad .........3♣ = 12-17 ............P/3♦/♥ = NAT .........3♦+ = 21+, NAT ......3♣/♦/♥ = expecting to play there opposite 12-14, FG opposite 15 ...2N = 18-20 X = FG or defending 2♠X opposite 18, takeout. NB! Also made on most GF hands without a S void or positional S stopper, for lack of a better call. ...P = LoTT-based, as always, and mandatory with 12-17, 4333 ...2N = Good/bad: 12-14, not 4333 OR 18+ w/ S stopper) ......3♣ = P/C .........P/3♦/3♥ = 12-14, NAT .........3♠ = 18+, 4 H, S stopper .........3N = 18-20, 2-3 H, S stopper .........(...) .........4♥ = 18-20, 5 H .........(...) ......3♦ = ELC .........P = 12-14, 2-3 H .........3♥ = 12-14, 4-5 H .........3♠+ = 18+ ......3♥ = FG, 5+ H ......3♠ = FG, 4- H, stopper ask ......3N = FG, 4- H, S stopper, NF ......(...) ...3♣ = 15-17, NAT ......(...) ......3♦ = ELC ......3♥ = FG, 5+ H ......(...) ...3♦ = 15-17 NAT ......(...) ......3♥ = FG, 5+ H ......(...) ...3♥ = 15-17, 4(5) H ...3♠ = 18+, 4 H, no S stopper ...3N = 18-20, 2-3 H, no S stopper ...4♥ = 15-17, 5 H 2N = Good/Bad (aka lebensohl), FG opposite 18 ...3♣ = 12-17 ......P = to play 3♣ ......3♦/♥ = to play ......3♠ = FG, 4 H, positional S stopper ......3N = 3- H, positional S stopper, NF ......(...) ...3♦+ = 18+, NAT 3♣/3♦/3♥ = to play opposite 12-14, FG opposite 15 3♠+ = FG, S void -

Or maybe 1♣: always BAL 1N = 3-suited (range?) 2♣ = 10-16, 6+m* 2N = 5-5 minors ? * i.e. what Marciński - L'Écuyer played in 1st/2nd NV vs. V in the 2022 Bermuda Bowl. Their cc + notes. -

How many of the openings 1♣,...,2N in your system (Dutch Doubleton with Multi 2♦?) have no anchor suit? I think five: 1♣, 1N, 2♣, 2♦ and 2N. How many of the openings 1♣,...,2N in (what I've called) Boring Roman Club with freed up 2M/2N openings have no anchor suit? Not necessarily more than four (1♣, 1♦, 2♣ and 2♦). And if 2♣ and 2♦ are freed up as well, then not necessarily more than two (1♣ and 1♦). -
