  1. That's a very different hand; I think 1♣ would be pretty unanimous there.
  2. Yeah, both those sites link as a reference to the same page I quoted from. So they seem to be solely reading into the new heading that's on the page, which seems very tenuous to me.
  3. Do you have a reference? Can see no news about this. The closest I can find on the CDC website is: Going from this to 'not readily contracted from surfaces' is a giant leap. And checking the wayback machine, this paragraph has been on their website since March. I guess they've grouped that paragraph with other paragraphs under a "The virus does not spread easily in other ways" heading, but that feels more like it's done for typography purposes, given the number of qualifiers.
  4. Add a contract to the handviewer, then use the GIB and Play buttons: [hv=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?pc=n&s=sqht943da74ck7532&w=skj842hq852dj92cq&n=sat93ha6dkqt65c86&e=s765hkj7d83cajt94&d=n&a=3NPPP]400|300[/hv] East has to lead a heart honor; if North ducks then continue with a low heart. Then they sit back and wait for enough tricks. But this is obviously just a double dummy solution; they got a bad score because their opponents bid to a terrible game and got lucky. Conversely you can get a good score by playing badly; analysing mistakes independently of scores and double dummy is a fine art.
  5. You have things backwards. You should be uninstalling Flash Player, because it is insecure and won't be supported by any web browsers by the end of the year. Anyone using it should visit bridgebase.com and log in via the main button there, rather than any other method of logging in.
  6. Have you tried clicking the box? After an explanation popups on the screen, it always stays there for me until I click it to make it disappear.
  7. This is awful. I've changed my vote about 4 times and I still have no idea what to do.. If partner has 2 hearts, opening 1♥ will likely turn into a disaster, because even though I can keep bidding clubs over all of the spade / diamond bids that will surely follow, partner is almost surely going to preference me back to a 5-2 heart fit which I don't want to be in. If partner has 3 hearts, opening 1♣ will likely never result in a heart contract; my hearts and general hand don't seem good enough to keep reversing into hearts over whatever level of spades the bidding is at next time round. On the other hand, even if partner does have hearts we're likely to be outbid. So currently I think I'm going to ignore the hearts and treat this as a one suited club hand. Given that, and the fact my clubs are so much better, maybe 3♣ is worth considering after all..
  8. If you click your username at the top right and click My Settings, there's an option there to make View New Content either show posts since your last visit vs content that you haven't read. Default has always been the former, so topics in the list stick around for a while until you aren't 'active', but perhaps you used to have it on the latter and it changed at some point.
  9. For now, from https://www.bridgebase.com/ you can click on 'Click here for the old, Flash verison' at the top right. But like I said, Flash is insecure and you won't be able to use this for long. But you must be doing this in Chrome already to get to the Flash version.. unless you've bookmarked the old URL, or something like that.
  10. Sounds like you're using the old Flash version in Chrome and v3 in Firefox. In the Flash version it doesn't add Robots to the seats, it just has a robot button that *lets* you add robots; reservations are done via the Table button instead of clicking on seats. But Flash is insecure and will be unsupported in all browsers by the end of the year. Chrome v3 works identically to Firefox v3.
  11. Nope. Not sure how that's really relevant to the question of whether this is a positive response or not though. Yes, you give up the ability to show super weak hands with clubs, but every convention has drawbacks; not a huge one since if you're weak with clubs you're almost certainly going to play in one of opener's suits anyway. (Or you just show it on your next bid if the clubs are that long.)
  12. How so? The way you bid it naturally is to respond 3♣, as I wrote. Having a slightly wider range of 3♣ positives is the agreed way to play it. BWS uses cheaper minor without all of the addons you suggested.
  13. If you are playing against robots, you always seem to be compared with other people playing against robots. But prime definitely isn't separated; I know for certain when playing in the MBC I'm compared against others playing in prime (since occasionally I see tables where the robot made a different bid, figured it was due to them having an advanced bot vs my basic, and clicked on the username of the person playing to see they're online and in the prime club).
  14. I have to agree with bluenikki here, at least because I play 2♦ as waiting and cheaper minor as a second negative. If partner does have an unbalanced hand, I'm completely stuck for a second (or any further) bid. If you play an immediate 2♥ as a bust, then starting with 2♦ seems fine.
  15. Only seems fair the two separated by 0.01 VP get to fight it out :) Good luck both. (Yeah, no 3rd v 4th).
  16. I didn't realise it was new. You've posted multiple other threads on opening bizarre 1NTs and the success you have had every time - from semibalanced 11 counts to 5521 and 6511 shapes, all of which lead to identical discussions (about whether it's allowed in real life, about how bad the robots are, etc). Just seems pointless to go through the same discussion for a 4th time, but of course you're free to do whatever you want. I like the use of 'ad hominem attack' though, it's not a phrase you often hear in these forums.
  17. The purpose is to make terrible bids, get bad results 90% of the time, then post the successes as if you did something worth sharing.
  18. Given 4NT is Blackwood for the bots, and you wouldn't have posted it otherwise, I expect they picked 5♦ and got lucky, they often seem to pick the higher suit rather than stronger.
  19. Might pay to add that to the announcement. I figured the massive number of support threads was because of not knowing you had to click casual, but had no idea until I saw this that it was breaking everything for people using the app.
  20. Thanks, that's what I expected. Have no issues with this, just wanted to confirm that's how it worked to prevent confusion with some people I play with.
  21. I know Flash is going away and you won't have much interest in supporting it, but can you confirm that it is no longer possible for people using Flash to play with people using the HTML5 version? (Clicking Casual in Flash doesn't load a new server, so it seems they're never able to see the person using the HTML5 server).
  22. Right. I guess the idea is that if it were just about beating the virus, everyone would stay at home as long as it takes, and that's my preferred option - luckily NZ has taken this option. But I can understand how vital being able to work is for a lot of people. I don't envy people in government having to way up these sorts of things in the slightest :(
  23. Every deal is used at 16 tables - of course someone has to be the first to play a particular deal, and if you're the lucky one then you won't see comparisons. It will update as other tables play it, but if you're really interested in the final scores, you'll need to check back at My Hands later on after it has worked its way through all of the tables.
