  1. Consider the following auction : (1C) 1NT (X) 2D (pass) pass (X) 2H 2D (non-alerted) was a H-transfer, understood as natural by the partner. Under FFB jurisdiction, there is misinformation by the 1NT bidder (as he didn't alert the transfer) and use of UI by the 2H bidder (as he used the default of alert to known that partner understood 2D as natural). It is not my opinion but it is my jurisdiction. What do you think about that case (if FFB is not your jurisdiction) ?
  2. I need a call (other than pass) holding AQxx AJxx xxx xx The system I have described doesn't work if 1D promises 4+ diamonds.
  3. 1D overcall as 11-14HCP, same shape as a classical TOX (i.e. 4-4 or 4-3 in majors, 3-6 D, 0-2 C) So, there is a permutation between the meanings of : (1C) 1D (1C) X (1C) 1NT in this system X = 15HCP+ any shape 1NT = 12-14 HCP ; 5+D (no void, other suit 4-,)
It's to say : disciplinary procedure Penalty may be : interdiction from competiting next year in the the same event or interdiction from competiting in FFB's events during 6 months
  5. Thank you for your very interesting contributions. I am not involved in the case (a Swiss team in Nouvelle-Calédonie) whereas I live in Europa. As I said, it was an expert event : BSC was allowed in the same (roughly) conditions as by WBF. I don't know the strong option of the multi (if any). The score was adjusted from 100 (4H -2) to 480 (4S+2). The case was discussed in the FFB's forum. The highest authorities gave their opinion, justifying the decision of the TD and the appeal committee.

Inn their view, the exlanation should be : "L'enchère montre exactement 3 cartes à pique et au moins quatre cartes à cœur. Mon partenaire passera avec 6 cartes à pique faible et dira 4C s'il a les cœurs." The bid shows 3 spades exacty and 4 hearts at least. Opener will pass with 6 spades weak and bid 4H with 6 hearts weak. how do you rule ?
  7. sorry again, ... and transform your small cards in honors. If by this operation, your hand becomes a hand to be passed, it's a HUM. I do not know if this is true for a one of a minor in a strong club or strong diamond system (i.e. as an example : if 1C shows 15HCP+, are you allowed to confer to 1K the meaning of less than 8HCP ?). It is not clear if, the WBF Systems Policy para 2.2, the exception concerns all the para or only point e), but I suspect last interpretation to be correct (previous system HUM).
  8. sorry, I 'll write this post in the official language of WBF, it's to say "poor english". HUM policy concernes only pass and one level opening : 2C may be a BSC but not a HUM. If 2C promises 13HCP or more, it is not a BSC. A one level opening (1X) with a 3 cards anchor suit is not a HUM if it promises 8 HCP or more and if pass is never stronger than pass. Take a hand that you opens 1X and keep the shape (x spades, y hearts, z diamonds...) a
  9. French Standard 5M : 1H 1S 2C 3H 4C 4NT 5S 6H 1S : no direct raise with 4 cards and GF 2C : 2H would show one-suited hand 3H : slamish (Qxx minimum in H) 4C : C stopper (A or K), promise decent H (minimum KJxxx) and a no-minimal hand, singleton S is not to bid as it is in partner's suit. 5S : 2 aces (from 5) and HQ 6H an ace is missing
  10. In french, the sentence is : "Si l’arbitre juge qu’une connaissance non divulguée a porté préjudice aux adversaires il attribuera une marque ajustée et il peut imposer une pénalité de procédure." "juger que" means "to consider that" (source : reverso) It seems that we don't have the same laws ;)
  11. I am not a TD, but I suppose that French TDs applies the last sentence of law 40 C 1 "If the Director judges there is undisclosed knowledge that has damaged the opponents he shall adjust the score and may award a procedural penalty". No prove of a violation of the laws or regulations is requested. An assumption is enough.
  12. answer to Cascade If you hold Txxxx = xx = x = AKQxx (sorry, in my original post, there were 12 cards in the hand : a Sx was missing) you are allowed to reply whatever you want but you are not allowed to understand that your partner has psyched or overbidden example : you choose 2S (auction pass pass 1S pass 2S all pass) It's OK if partner holds AKxxx = xxx = xx = xxx But if he holds x = Axxx = Qxxxx = Jxx, you will be asked by TD how you knew that your partner was psyche and your contract could be convert into 4SX. (Assuming that the missing x is a Dx, the psyche works as the auction goes : pass pass 1S pass 3C pass pass ? 3C : maximum passed hand, 4 spades and 5 good clubs forcing to 3S And the 4th seat is in trouble with AKQx = Kxxx = Axxx = x)
  13. There are some differences between french (and I suppose belgian) regulation and ebu - acbl regulations. In ebu-land you must have 8 HCP to open even in third seat. In France you can open 1S en 3rd with AKJxx = xxx = xxx = xx in any event (including the lowest level). There is no limitation in intermediate+ events. But drury is not a psyche control as it is not a universal raise for interesting passed hand. If partner opens 1S in 3rd and you hold Txxx = x = xx = AKQxx you will (and have to...) reply 4S in SEF (système d'enchères français : french 5M standard). Drury indicates a 3 cards raise usually (4 cards in a balanced hand). So, if the partner as a 8 - 10 HCP hand, there is no chance to win a game. If 2M shows the weakest hand, pass is a logical conclusion.
