  1. Partner should have a 6-card ♠ to bid, otherwise he might pass with only 5 ♠ and 2 or 3 low ♥. He should have a void in declarer's minor or he would have led a singleton in that minor. His most probable distribution is therefore 6-3-4-0 or 6-3-0-4. As Codo said, cashing a second ♠ will allow partner to signal his void. Two ♠, ♦A and a ruff should be OK for one down.
  2. 7♦. P should not bid 3♦ in first position , vuln with ♦AQ10xxxx. He should have ♦AQJ9xxxx at least.
  3. 2♣. I will play 4♠ anyway (unless P bids ♥ maybe). So this is a chance to get doubled and also mislead the defence. Partner won't be misled after I support ♠, as 2♣ might be on only 3.
  4. Same bidding for me. Though I guess I would invite game.
  5. One way to make would be via 4 trumps, 2 ♣ruffs, 1 ♥ and 3♦. But to enjoy the long♦ is unlikely, because this requires that trumps are drawn already. Even if ♦ are 3-3 and trumps 2-2, opponents will be able to play yet another ♣ when in with the ♦A and dummy will be left with ♠Q10 with the K still out. Or, if a trump is played to the Ace, trump to the Queen, opps get in with the trump King, and play a ♣. Then they duck the ♦A till the third round and dummy has no entry. You need trumps to be 2-2 in order to make. You can try for ten tricks by way of 3 ♣ ruffs, 2 ♦ tricks, 1 ♥ tricks and 4♠ tricks (♠ must splt 2-2) Because a trump promotion is more possible in ♥ than in ♦, you should try to get to the ♦Q rather than the ♥A at trick 2.
  6. Switching to ♦ should be automatic. If there are 4♥ to be taken along with the ♣K, they will not disappear. However if the defence's tricks are in ♦ (ie. partner has a ♦ honor), a ♦ must be led at once.
  7. I feel your auction is OK, although after 2NT, bidding 3♦ instead of 3NT might be better (or might not). Obviously you want to be in 3NT when it makes, but what about being there when it doesn't make (I mean doesn't make double-dummy). There is a chance that the opponents will not find the best defence and with your HCP and long suit it is a good bet at this vulnerability to bid game in IMPs.
  8. I was South. There other 3 players are computers (Funbridge software). They wouldn't psyche, so the 2♣ bidder must have his values. It's the plan of the play I'm most concerned about.
  9. As long as ♠ are not 4-1 there are 10 tricks, either by ruffing a ♦ or by playing trumps and then ♣A and ♣Q. For an 11th trick one might try pulling all trumps. West must keep the guarded ♥Q, someone must keep the guarded ♦K and someone must keep the guarded ♣K. Dummy will discard one ♥ and three ♣. Most possibly the ♣9 will score.
  10. [hv=pc=n&s=skt976h3daj953ca9&n=sq42hakqjt74dct65&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=p1hp1s2c2h3cdp4cp4dp4sppp]266|200[/hv] Opening lead is ♣K MPs, opponents' bidding most likely is sensible. I butchered the play by failing to plan it in the first place. What is your plan.
  11. (1) Sometimes Dbl, sometimes 2♦ (2) Pass. Too many points in opponents' suits and hearts look like ♥ xx .
  12. Partner had a chance to bid 4♠ himself. He will have another one too.
  13. With the second hand, I'd Double and then bid NT. If opps were vulnerable, I would pass.
  14. You can gamble that partner doesn't have the ♠A and bid 4NT, then either 5 or 6♥.
  15. If you play 2♦ as forcing, then either the intervenor needs a whole lot to intervene or otherwise your partner's 2♦ is an overbid (You could have bid 1♠ with much less). Also IMO a bid of 3NT might be better than 4♠ . Your partner has no fit for you; you can always remove to 4♠ if you must.
  16. Perhaps you can put in the J for now and postpone the decision after you have some more info, ie. who has the ♠A and ♦A etc.
  17. I think it's the type of hand that you are bound to lose because the opponents are weak. Balancing as South is certainly an option, but I am not convinved that it is a winning action (considering all possible deals where this auction could have occured and also all types of opponents), If you know beforehand that the opponents are weak, then it is a little different.
  18. Bid 4NT and then 6♣ over any response. This might receive an unjustified Dbl compared to bidding a direct 6♣.
  19. Very close - I think I'd go in IMPs, although I can see 8 tricks already (well, possibly ). I would take partner's offer to play in NT as optional - he knows my ♥ shortage, but still shows his hand's faces.
  20. Not sure if this line would work, and besides, I don't cover all possible cases, but here's the first idea that struck me : - Play ♠K and ♠A, check if trumps are 3-2 (if not, play on ♥ - many good things need to happen for a make) - Assuming trumps are 3-2, play ♥A and ♥ to the K. If all follow to this round, draw the outstanding trump with the Q and ruff a ♥ - contract makes. - If East ruffs the ♥K , it won't make. - If West ruffs in front of dummy, discard two ♣ on ♥ and make. - If West refuses or is unable to ruff - I don't know lol
  21. I would bid 5♥ at MPs and toss a coin in IMPs.
  22. 2♠, seems to describe my passed hand.
  23. My guess is that declarer has 6♥, 3♦ and 4 blacks. He tries to ruff a ♦ in dummy. Other than the ♦Ace, P should provide 2 trump tricks and either a ♠ ruff or one more ♦. Playing the ♦9 caters for both when P gets an immediate ♠ruff, or when he must overtake and play on trumps.
