  1. Is there a great deal of difference between the 1st explanation and your version? OK say yours is the second one used. The alert box is once again thrown in your face. How do you word it then? And the 3rd time? 4th? Get the point?
  2. Here is another situation for example, in which TD does nothing and blames the person that calls. [this] director [...] has already banned a very good player for questioning them over a dispute concerning alerts. And that player, probably the best player in the club was correct. The alerts had not been made. Here is my example hand: http://tinyurl.com/h2n8dyl South knows full well that the name of an alert in not a proper alert. But the important thing here is that the alert was not made until after opps pass and her partners response had been made, and when the alert was made it was the name of the convention which was used. I called the director, which was unneeded since s/he had been sitting there witnessing the entire thing. What happened? Nothing. Director asked me if I asked. Asked what? 3!D should be enquired upon before I pass, when 3!D had not been alerted yet? Of course I asked when it was subsequently alerted and before my next turn. I asked by saying the name is not an alert. Director did nothing. South was not even admonished for slow alert AND using the name of the convention.
  3. Clicking the bid more than twice if an explanation has been made, and tried again with different words, is abusive and wastes time. If more information is needed the software should direct the questions to the partner of the bidder just like in real life. For example take 1nt 2c alerted as asking partner for 4 card major, the box is clicked and so, "I have one or two four card majors and am asking partner if he has one to bid it. wow in fact that wont fit, which is one of the problems. You see Barry? But that info will fit in a private message. The original alert is all that was needed. But some have learned to game the system by repeatedly clicking the alert box and harassing the bidder. Most so called TD's do nothing and trying to explain the situation to them takes a long time and accomplishes little, in fact you often get penalized for slow play after that.
  4. yuck I typed a long response and is gone.. People repeatedly abuse clicking and re-clicking the alert box. Once two attempts have been made to alert the bid, and not by using the name, ,they should have to ask privately, and ask the partner of he alerter what specifically it is they want to know. Calling a TD and explaining to him what has happened just takes too long, and TD's seldom do anything about the abuse of the alert box. Opps can runout the clock. I hope TD's read this.
  5. You take inferences from delay at your peril. What I think would help is that the last card played does not disappear so quickly. That gives on time to see it and not have to replay the trick constantly.
  6. My 2 cents...I like to use 2nt not natural to show this hand which is offensive limit raise. 4!H is weaker, and the cue would be hcp invite. Which it is close to being. Except that hand would have more scattered k q j's etc. There are only 8 losers despite the lack of hcps...Let opener decide.
  7. I have played it differently with different partners. Certainly the transfer is not as important to "hide" the strong hand with a 12-14 nt. What is important is to use leb, when overcalled and dont runouts when doubled. When not using transfers you can use 2!C as non forcing staymen and 2D as forcing staymen.
  8. I use the option for the cards to not appear as pictures. I wish there were a way to separate suits by colors instead of rank.
  9. I wish the notification that players are needed for team game would stay on the screen until you close it. Now it just pops up for less than 1 minute. If it lasted than it would be much easier to start a match. Thsnk you.
  10. I think that is perhaps what it is. I wonder if "time to live" can be adjusted server side.
  11. I have noticed that some players are being disconnected and then coming back fairly quickly. I know this is happening to my partner. He says it reconnects automatically. It happens both when he uses chrome and the older windows client. What could be causing this. It seems to be within the last 14 days.
  12. Maybe players could sign up on a list for team games?
  13. I think the new team options are great. I enjoy the team games. I only wish there were a better way to invite players. For example, if one sits and then sit outs, one gets a drop down list of players. That would be nice to have for each seat, when trying to set up a game.
  14. Thank you for the replies. I cannot find a flash player on my Mac. It must be rolled into the browsers. I have my brother on the "old BBO" windows program. I hope that will solve the problem. But I have him also changing to use chrome. Firefox used to be a great browser. So much is changing with video now as it morphs to HD that legacy OS and browsers are being rendered unusable. Pity. Soon the internet will be just as TV, with all the ads.
  15. I have noticed this problem also, and even when using chrome. My brother is having a haard time with it using FF on MS OS. It seems to happen once an hour now. He is losing his connection during tourneys. I am trying to get him to use Chrome only. I have tried having him turn off card animation. No luck. I too suspect a cache problem. Is there a way to increase cache space for flash/ or ro limit cache storage for flash? Where to find it? In the browser or elsewhere?
