Partnership Bidding Table Feature .. prev version was 1.4.8x (displayed on screen). The new version will not allow me to paste contents of a 'dealer' script after selecting the 'Advanced' option. This GREATLY restricts the Bidding Table feature. Is this an error or oversight or is there some browser or other setting involved? It would be really neat if a filename containing the script could be selected .. but I'd settle for cut and paste.. Regards

1: Missing Flag .. what happened to N.Ireland flag? -- missing from web version, or are you planning to drop Wales and Scotland also? 2: When i select Team matches - in progress - i get a short and apparently arbitrary list of matches in progress. How do i get a full(er) list of current matches and/or what can i do to influence the short list that i currently see. 3: If I 'buy' a Robot will I get one that DOESNT PASS CUE-BIDS? Thanks.. 'web' version generally good tho ..Rgds doggie

Hi.. There appears to be at least two problems with 5.2.21 1: users normally logged on ( ie : NOT 'invisible') do not appear in Lobby list. This problem seems to affect some users only .. eg my regulat p only sees my 'just logged on' msg but I dont appear in her Lobby list , whereas I do not experience this problem with her logons. 2: chat box frequently closes abruptly, with no chat sent, before intended chat is completed Rgds

not a minor suit. spade lead probably needs pard to have 2+ spades, so not ace spades. that leaves any other spade or a heart i try a low spade

To Stayman or Not...
dogsbreath replied to rogerclee's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
hi pass for me .. but why guess? ..your partnership should have a policy of always passing or always stayman on this hand-type, and just live with the result rgds Dog -
hi Could this be the rare Full Arkwright ? Experts and professionals generally confine themselves to the much more common Half-Arkwright which may be undertaken in favourable weather conditions provided no more than 1 foot remains in contact with the ground. The Full Arkwright requires that NO body-part may be in contact with the ground or any other surface as the accompanying manoever (eg backwash squeeze) is attempted. Nowdays, only the gifted amateur is likely to have the combination of skill and agility to make the attempt. Glad to have been of assistance Dogsbreath

BBO Rules after a Claim
dogsbreath replied to xviolist's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Hi I've just played in ACBL speedball event and had a claim rejected 3 times by my opps in my 7NT contract. I realise it not always obvious but i did have 2 top spades, 4 top hearts, 3 top clubs and a 8-3 diamond fit missing only Q and x surely 17 on top is a clear claim :) Rgds Dog -
The kibbitzer menace?!
dogsbreath replied to zasanya's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
hi all Maybe if we catch people enjoying themselves on BBO we should put a stop to it as quickly as possible. :( RGDS dog -
hi pass is certainly a 'LA' .. declarer can easily have a double heart guard (K10xx or A10xx) and your spade holding is vulnerable. Additionally your diamond guard and good club holding will be embarrassed by having to ditch on the 2nd round of Hearts. I agree that this may well be difficult for opps to play .. but maybe also 10 tricks makeable .,. why crucify p for indicating a good lead Rgds Dog

hi My broadband connection is generally satisfactory. However when connectivity issues occur i find that i have absolutely zero network traffic .. either BBO or any other internet-dependent program. I have contact my ISP during several of these 'dead' periods and on checking the line they claim that my broadband box/connection appears to be working perfectly. I doubt that the problem is BBO fault. (I have tried the changing port suggestion -- makes no difference in my case). Even switching all hardware off and re-booting usually does not clear the problem, so I'd guess that it's not some obscure memory corruption bug. ..Difficult to know where to go next as ISP disclaims any responsibility for the problem. For the time being i just have to endure occasional periods of up to 90mins of zero network traffic. Rgds Dog

Hi I have a similar dissatisfaction with the flood of messages from some clubs/tds regarding the start-times of their tourneys. I do not wish to prevent them advertising their events (many of which i play in) but i would like the option of blocking such messages when i am at a table and in particular when playing a team game. Setting 'ignore all chat' does not block these messages. Considering Fred's comments on future BBO releases, i guess this is not going to happen in current version. Rgds Dog bb :)

A numbers game
dogsbreath replied to blackshoe's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
hi Would someone care to mention to my random Indy partners that among this vast choice of possible calls the one they seem to forget or ignore is ....PASS. Rgds Dog :) -
hi all ..before i bid 5♥ i'll just check that the opps dont play SA Texas ... if they do, our heart fit may be a little disappointing :( Rgds Dog

Barometer in Team Matches
dogsbreath replied to awm's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
hi I voted 'dont care' .. because my experience is that most players prefer in ON .. but i suspect it leads to more leavers . Rgds Dog -
Missed really good slam, you be the judge
dogsbreath replied to sathyab's topic in Expert-Class Bridge
hi ti think 2H is a dreadful bid after the 2d overcall.. Yes, the Hearts might get 'lost' in the remainder of the auction but so will the club fit .. budding 2h on this awful suit leaves you with a problem when lho bounces in diamonds Rgds Dog -
hi I strongly disagree that a club is a 'logical alternate' ,, this is NOT the same as a (possible) tempo break followed by subsequent bids. A club (or any other lead) is only a logical alternate if you shuffle your hand and pick a lead card at random. I wouldnt lead a club on that auction unless you removed the other 8 cards from my hand Rgds Dog

hi Just a point here .. if i read the original post correctly, 2D is multi .. no-one mentioned this in the discussion .. but the opener could have a weak 2 Major ,, even possibly weak2 in spades .. so the 4S bid is daft. (I know we can see from the layout that the ops have diamonds) North must not act so precipitately unless the 2d can be passed. Rgds Dog

Hi David.. I've seen what ypu guys open on .. hard to believe 2nd hand passed  Rgds Dog

hi I cant tell if it's relevant to this problem but i recently reported another 'claim' bug but havent seen any reply yet.. while kibbing a team match a contract of 7nt was bid. Declarer made a claim on the opening lead (perfectly vald .. 15 top tricks) which was acceted by the defenders. However, the pop-up that displays '<declarer_name>'s claim of xx tricks was....' contained my login-name rather than that of the declarer. I was the only kibber at the time. I was unable to ask the players what they saw due to normal restrictions on kibber-chat in team games. rgds Dog

Hi all I guess i'm in trouble here .. i have to disagree with Ron! So you open 1S and the bidding goes 4H P P to you ... how are you better placed ? On the other hand, opening 1C when the hand happens to belong to your side is much easier to manage if the auction starts 1c p 1H p 1S ... than if it starts 1S P 2H P ? If you're gonna get bounced on this hand you are always going to have problems, depending on what hand partner has .. .. for my part I'd rather risk 4S after 1C 4H P P than x or 5c after 1s 4H p p My opinion is that opening 1C will be more effective in constructive auctions, and it makes little difference which black suit you open when LHO bounces you and p has no clear action. hi i noticed a small irregularity while kibbing tourney 246 (Juniors BBO) .. board 8 .. board was bid to 7nt with declarer making a (valid) claim for all tricks on the opening lead .. claim accepted by both defenders .. but the text in the result window said 'dogsbreath claim ...etc' .. but i was only a kibber (declarer was 'ensi') ..no big deal ..but odd ... i couldnt ask the players what they saw 'cos kibb chat turned off Rgds Dog
